The Haunting of Bly Manor
(2020)

I have no words...
If I ever hear "perfectly splendid" again in my life I may snap. Who wrote the dialogue for the most obnoxious child actors to ever be cast in a series? A 5 for ambition. Seems like they're going the AHS route with same actors, different storyline, which I totally support. But im 4 episodes in and I cannot get passed how absolutely "perfectly obnoxious" the child actors are. Im not even from England and I know no one there talked like these kids do after maybe 1843. Are they in a horror series or Mary Poppins? I'm only watching to the end to support the creator because Hill House was an excellent horror experience and I'd really love for him to make up for this series where honestly? Nothing happens. Id add a spoiler alert but, nothing happens. Using the Turn of the Screw was a HORRIBLE choice for the film "The Turning" and it seems to be so here as well. Fingers crossed for a 3rd series with another original approach like Hill House to make up for this perfectly boring show.

Entertaining film
Nic Cage is Nic Cage. Ive always been a huge fan and will watch all his films. This is one of the better ones he has done lately (minus his moves into horror which are superb). Durand is having a blast as the villain. As a viewer I had fun watching this one, because I could visibly tell the actors were having fun in their roles. Id recommend this for any fan of Nic, Durand, or anyone that just wants a low budget entertaining film. This isnt Oscar material, but it is by no means awful. The reason I rated it a 6, is because every time Famke showed up I wondered if it were horror makeup she was wearing. Learning she had surgery, I think she needs to sue the doctor. All I kept seeing was the cover art for "The House October Built" (an amazing found footage horror for anyone reading this, check it out) and quite frankly she looks like a porcelain doll and its borderline disturbing.

The Courier

No words.
Watched this cause I'm a fan of Oldman. Turned it off because I am no longer a fan of Oldman. What a terrible movie. 2 stars cause the cinematography was good. What trash.

Charlie's Angels
(2019)

Mrs Scott had me intrigued....
Kristen Stewart was a red flag. It doesn't matter who is in your film, male or female. If it doesn't have a story or and reason for existing then men and women alike will not watch it. Good job destroying a franchise Elizabeth Banks. And someone please tell Kristen's agent to stop getting her work. She is terrible. Wet cardboard portrays more emotion. Pass on this.

Totally fake
A pair of parents who shield their children from the reality of humanity suddenly agree to film a TV series? This is completely fake. Despite the children of these parents being extremely interesting, the parents abhorrent and entirely disillusioned, for a fake "reality" series it does become interesting. But fake it is. These parents, were they real, would have never agreed to this. And if they did I would love the producer to explain to me the process of how they got them to sign the contract. I won't hold my breath on that one, but I will continue to watch.

Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star
(2011)

Relax
This wasnt meant to be a national treasure. I rated 8 stars because it has Peter Dante. Dante is gold.

Artemis Fowl
(2020)

Well....
I'm sure Disney is glad they couldnt release this in theaters due to the pandemic. This movie is awful. It has no idea what it wants to be. Terrible addition to Disney +

Crossing Swords
(2020)

Well....
Animation is superb. The show just isnt funny. At all. Maybe I should tag this with a spoiler alert cause, it's just not funny.

Sex Drive

The rating on here is nonsense
Yes it's ridiculous. But all teen comedies are. The acting isnt top notch but which one of them is? Revisit "Animal House" and tell me every actor was up to par. People need to relax. This is a fun film. Its offensive, but even when it is the actors play it off and make us comfortable. Seth Green stole the movie with his phoned in (as it should be) performance as Ezekiel. This movie should be up there with 10 things I hate about you and I dare say American Pie, as a definitive comedy classic of a generation.

Captain Marvel
(2019)

Currently watching this now...
Seeing this for the first time. People giving bad reviews arent speaking down to strong female heroes. That's just not reality. The simple fact of the matter is this is the first MCU film I can almost imagine the main star wants to break the 4th wall and admit "I'm just doing this for the paycheck." Brie has been so good in other roles, not sure exactly what happened here, but she was horribly miscast and should absolutely not be the choice to lead the MCU moving forward. I say this not because shes a woman, but because she just flat out did a horrible job.

Tiger King
(2020)

Another documentary....
Which is what I thought. But with the current climate I figured why not? I'll bite. This is beyond fascinating. What I assumed what an episodic documentary in line with "Fatal Attraction" from Animal planet turned into a murder case and a presidential run and god knows what else. Entirely worth watching. Very well put together. Every time I thought footage was biased i was proven wrong. My own opinion on the actual content put aside, this documentary is up there with Making a Murderer techincally. Again not content. This is worthy of a binge and a discussion on so many topics.

100 Humans
(2020)

Hey Netflix...
I'm the cohost of the K&A Experience podcast. If you're throwing money around to absolute trash like this, I can promise we'd produce a cheaper show with much more quality. Just saying. Oh! My review? This is worse than coronavirus.

The Circle
(2020)

This was all right...
Until Alex came in as Steve Carell from Dinner for Schmucks and became addicting trash tv! This is actually so bad it's good. That is all.

Girl on the Third Floor
(2019)

Halfway in and...
It's not a bad film. Not a great horror but not bad. I can't help but shake the idea that this is almost like an audition reel for Brooks (aka CM Punk of whom I'm a huge fan and the reason I checked this out) to be the next Ash in evil dead. If they had allowed him to showcase more of his real life personality in this character then I think he could definitely be a contender for a role like that. All in all there are worse ways to kill time and definitely worse choices on Netflix to check out.

Cats
(2019)

Dear Lord
As a fan of the Broadway show I had high hopes for this. Now I am eternally grateful I have a dog. Who greenlit this atrocity? Total disgrace. SPOILER: this is absolute garbage.

Jacob's Ladder
(2019)

This was released in theaters?
Totally unwanted remake. Totally unnecessary. Special effects look like a really bad tv movie. Who greenlit this crap? This doesnt even deserve to have the title of the original. Please skip this and watch the original. This is just a sad waste of money and time - exactly why most (not all) remakes are completely pointless

6 Underground
(2019)

Michael Bay....
He does it again. Quick edits to make action scenes seem more intense, added with shaky cam to make the scenes difficult to focus on. Explosions wherever he can fit them. A basically non existent story. I gave it 3 stars cause as a Ryan Reynolds fan its nice to see Van Wilder graduated college to become an action hero, and Ron Funches appearing. Why Michael Bay thinks the camera needs to shake during scenes of dialogue or pans and zooms, I just don't get. He has such potential to make actual blockbusters cause his visions are so grand but... another wasted investment from Netflix.

Prank Encounters
(2019)

What?
Watched an episode or two. This is just not good, there isnt any reason to break it down or analyze it, it's just not good. At all. Netflix acquired Scare Tactics, spend the money to bring that back and stick with that at TvMA so none of us have to suffer through this again.

31
(2016)

Why a 7?
I'm a zombie fan. I held off on 31 from the reviews. I saw 3 from hell and wanted to convince myself the Rob Zombie I know and love still had it in him. This wasn't about character work or plot, this was about giving fans the brutal zombie film they wanted him to make. And it worked. Is it perfect? No. It isnt meant to be. This is a love letter to the fans. The only reason I have it a 7 is because the R version very clearly holds back, and I blame the MPAA for not having the guts to let the masses choose for themselves what they want to see. Hopefully the unrated version surfaces for us fans that just wanted to let go, let our brains turn to mush, and enjoy the mindless imagery and sheer violence on screen. I'm glad I finally saw 31, as it washed the awful taste of 3 from hell out of my mouth. I'm still with you Rob, keep em coming. And if you ever read this? Forget the fireflies now, give us more Doom Head.

Martyrs
(2015)

Wow. In the worst way.
In a time where Hollywood is clearly running out of original ideas, I recently saw this. The original Martyrs is one of the best horror films I've ever seen. It is a film that could easily succeed in America dubbed or with subtitles, remaking it would be impossible. To alter the original film and dumb it down and almost PG13 it is just an insult to the original. For anyone curious and with a strong stomach, please seek out the unrated original version and disregard this as a pathetic cash grab attempt. And if anyone in Hollywood is reading, I have plenty of ideas. Remakes need to stop.

Nikki Glaser: Bangin'
(2019)

Oh Nikki....
As a huge fan of her show on Sirius, I was really looking forward to this. This is a female comedian who is sharp and witty and has opinions that really connect across the board and she's absolutely hilarious. Then I watched this special. Gone was the woman I listen to regularly. Gone was the wit. Instead we are treated to an hour of jokes (if you can even call them that) about oral which isnt crass or edgy it just comes off and seriously uncomfortable to listen to. It's a shame as she is so much better than resorting to Amy Schumer style (definitely not a compliment). Skip this one and check out her Sirius show. Seriously, skip this. Its dreadful.

3 from Hell
(2019)

Coming from a huge Zombie fan....
Devil's Rejects was fantastic. This? I wanted so badly to love this. I really did. I watched it twice. And just... no. I want more from Zombie as I am a major fan of his work but this was just... bad. It could be broken down and discussed but plain and simple? Its just bad.

Rhythm + Flow
(2019)

1 star because...
Everything on this show is fantastic but Cardi B is the most obnoxious person I've ever seen on a camera being televised. She is absolute garbage. 1 star for giving this woman another outlet to be terrible and beyond annoying.

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie
(2019)

Welcome back
As a BB superfan I can say this is the movie I never knew I wanted. The series ended so perfectly and as a whole sets a precedent for how a series should be structured. It is amazing to be welcomed back into the world of these characters. I want so badly to rate this a 10 out of ten but realistically I feel as if adding Todd, so much Todd, was lazy filler. We could have been given so many more flashbacks with Jesse, why focus so much on Todd? Why not have Jesse visit Walt Jr for breakfast or show some talk with Hank? And No Gus Fring really took away from the experience especially since of all the characters he is the one I want them to dive into. Regardless, and I wont mention the actor playing Todd aging because we all do so let it go, the film is st fantastically written, acted, and the cinematography is pure art as always. Vince knocked it out of the park again, just wish Todd was the ball leaving the stadium.
