Bullet Train
(2022)

Murder on the N700
Originally didn't want to watch this movie, because I thought that they were messing with my Saturday Night Fever.

Watched on Netflix and I was surprised, how funny and well written this movie is.

Love the subplots that show a back story to some of the important plots of the story.

My favorite was the journey of the Fiji water bottle that I found quite hilarious.

Brad Pitt and all the other actors did stellar performances.

And the flashback sequences added meat to the movie.

This movie was well directed, not like the failure movies of Junkyard Abrams.

I do want to go to Japan and ride the N700 because of this movie.

I highly recommend this movie, if you want action, comedy in one basket.

Rambo: Last Blood
(2019)

Going out with a Bang
I have never been a big fan of Rambo. Watched the first two movies when they came out years ago.

Decided to try out last blood, just to see the fate of Rambo.

Blood, gore, Violence.

But the satisfaction, knowing that Rambo went out with a bang and not a whimper.

Sly is still on the mark with Rambo as he always is with Rocky.

Please, this movie needs to be the conclusion of the Rambo saga. And Rambo should not be rebooted into stupidity.

Overall, I liked this movie and it rekindled my interest in watching the earlier versions of Rambo.

The movie stars like Stallone, that I watched in my Teenage years are starting to fade away.

Let them conclude their characters in their own way and not dictated by the norms of the 21 century.

Im Westen nichts Neues
(2022)

Darker than earlier versions
The 2022version of All's Quiet on the Western front.

Its a mixed bag, more realistic than the earlier versions in its depiction of trench warfare in World War one.

Missing are the added scenes and the build up to the climax. That the earlier version had.

I am glad that this version is done by the Germans and like the Empress we have a Germanic view instead of our more American/English prospective on the earlier versions.

This was the war of my Grandmothers and fathers who saw it from the Dardanelles and Allenbys Palestinian campaign.

World War one usually takes a back seat to World War Two.

Their is evil in the Kasier, but none of the pure evil of the Fuhrer But in the end the results are the same. Same slaughter, different time..

House of the Dragon
(2022)

Dragons Domain
House of the Dragon predates the Game by 200 years.

The Seven Kingdoms are under the rule of house Targeryan.

This prequel is a little more soap opera than Game of thrones.

But I found this series to be rock solid and having George RR Martin in the background keeping a steady hand on his his creation to be a plus.

Matt Smith who I hated as the doctor, hit a home run with me as Damon Targeryan.

I am looking forward to season Two, when I will finally see the Stark's again.

Criticism aside from other reviewers, this series in my opinion is a home run compared to some of the Junk( Kurtzman Trek), as one example of garbage being forced on us ,whether we like it or not.

Unlike other networks, HBO is still turning out quality programs.

Flipping Bangers
(2017)

Gearhead Banger heaven.
After watching Wheeler Dealers, Flipping Bangers is, well, lets go for the lowest denomination in the auto market, bangers and take a bloody risk on it.

After dealers this is my favorite gear head show on Motor Trend.

Because for me , unlike my younger brothers.

I was the one born with no mechanical ability to fix anything.

This show is a educational as they fix and repair the cars which they acquired and then sell them of and give them a new home.

Gus and Will are a great a team as Mike and Elvis are.

I wish Motor Trend would show more seasons after Season Two.

All in all I recommend this show, if you are looking for a education in auto repair.

Wheeler Dealers Dream Car
(2020)

Finding Peoples Dreams
Dream car is an extension of the original Wheeler Dealers.

Mike and Elvis are on a mission to find peoples dream cars which are beyond their financial means through trades and a bit of cash.

Along the way they help other people get the cars, caravans, Tractors that they need.

This is a very heartwarming Motor Trend show and one of the best along with Top Gear, Fifth Gear and flipping Bangers.

And if you are a gear head, you get to see plenty of European classics as well as Ford of Europe and Opels popping up from time to time.

In all this a a program I do recommend highly. But Couldn't we also have a American Version eventually.

Mission: Impossible - Fallout
(2018)

Minimum JJ Abrams Fallout
I decided to watch MI Fallout on a lark.

Didn't see JJ Abrams or Giaccionos hackish finger prints, Except in the production of this movie.

Different director and composer. Minimum exposure to Bad Robot.

Found the plot to be typical of what Abrams calls a plot.

Jumps from one location to another with barely a pause and minimal character development or background.

Slam bang, non stop action.

Movies in general are whole lot better if Bad Robot and Secret Hideout kept their grubby hands out of the business.

I didn't see any Abrams lens flare which is a cliche technique that Abrams shoves into all of his disaster movie as in screwing canon up in Trek and Wars as a example.

In short could of been better.

Joker
(2019)

Origins, origins
Joker is a excellent Origin story of the character.

Phoenix nails the part.

Gotham is portrayed as 1970-80's New York city which I remember so well.

Cars and Subway trains are exact and it is nice to have the inclusion of classic singers involved.

All the actors and Actresses give spot on performances.

The Wayne's who I always liked are brought down a notch showing their flaws, compared to earlier versions of the incident.

The theme music is great.

This movie destroys the phony Patterson Batman movie on all levels.

Joker is how to do a supervillain movie without compromising the source material.

I am looking forward to the sequel.

Star Trek: Prodigy
(2021)

As bad as lower decks
Between the idiotic Giaccino theme song and its Star Wars style villains.

Prodigy is a true JJ/Kurzman dumbo show.

Despite its Y7 rating I decided to watch the entire first season.

Plot holes that you could run a Doomsday machine through.

The main villain is a Star Wars reject trying to be a a stereo type.

Kobayashi was the worst of this trash show and a poor con to try to get the real Star Trek fans back in.

Seeing Janeway in her Voyager uniform, made watching this junk bearable.

If you want the real fans to come back, call all the failed Kurtzverse alternate reality non canon junk.

And stop insulting our intelligence.

Bridgerton
(2020)

season one and two
Bridgerton is a classic Regency era costume drama.

Season One had more fireworks on the romance side Season Two less fireworks with a single story line.

I have watched plenty of these drama's going all the way back to Claudius on PBS.

They all vary in quality depending on their creators.

Bridgerton is likeable, middle of the road drama.

Not the top and not the bottom of the pack.

I in particular enjoy lady Whistle down, poking fun at the Aristocratic class.

Space Jam
(1996)

Enjoyable mix of Looneys and real people.
Space Jam is an enjoyable mix of live action and toons.

Nearly as good as Roger Rabbit.

The voices of the toons are post Mel Blanc, but they all do a good job doing their characters.

This might be dated, but I will see about the reboot and review that next.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore
(2022)

Decent
Secrets of Dumbledore is decent and not spectacular.

Seems to have a parallel with World War 2 and the Nazi's.

Somewhat subdued compared to the two earlier movies and not as long or boring as the previous movie.

The Batman
(2022)

Worst Batman movie ever made
Now where do I begin on this long, boring drawn out turd fest.

All the actors played the worst version of the classic characters I have ever seen.

The movie was written by someone who does not know Batman lore. Reeves Should of Started with the Official Batman encyclopedia and then watched the earlier, better versions of the Dark Knight.

Giacchino's terrible music score added to the mess.

All in all, I would rather watch Batman Forever and Batman and Robin, which I used to think as the worst Batman movies, than watching this turd from the JJ Abrams gang of hacks.

And please, no sequels to this turd.

The Frogmen
(1951)

Homage to the Seals predessor.
The Frogman is a classic old School war drama that plays homage to the UDT's. The Seals predecessor.

Well acted and nicely paced with a top notch cast of actors, including the real Captain Pike{Jeffrey Hunter} in a supporting role.

Bláznova kronika
(1964)

Surreal
Odd ball eastern European comedy and social commentary on the Thirty Years war.

Off beat and old School low tech, but brilliant in its conception.

Filmed in Black and white and no color.

Der Hauptmann
(2017)

The Corruption of Nazism
Dark, black and white, realistic movie set at the end of World War Two.

Nazi brutality is evident through out the entire movie.

Even the main character is a opportunist who takes advantage of every opportunity to sink to new lows.

The X Files
(1993)

Classic 1990's TV.
A standout in the 1990's along with Babylon Five , Deep Space 9 , Xena and Hercules.

A Science Fiction show based on Fact finding.

I always found the X Files to be ground in reality.

And with the Smoking man conspiracy arc added to the shows reality.

Always liked Fox Mulder, he was the geek who believed in the impossible.

And Dana Scully was his serious real world opposite, trying to debunk Fox.

This show is Timeless.

Operation Mincemeat
(2021)

Real spying the right way
Operation mincemeat is based on a real operation that was done to deceive the Nazis The movie was a bit long and drawn out, but then anything in the real world is long and drawn out.

The subplots add or detract from this movie, but all in all , the movie works..

The King's Man
(2021)

World War One anyone...
I enjoyed the previous Kingsman movies. This one deals with the origin of the organization.

It Starts with the second Anglo-Boer War and ends with the conclusion of the First World war.

Nice use of Subplots revolving around a mad Scotsman who manipulated the world starting with the Assassination of Arch duke Ferdinand of Austria I recommend watching this movie as a history lesson, since it touches in real time the live action documentary format of the 21 century..

Outback Truckers
(2012)

Aussie Truckers
After watching nearly two seasons of the show. Outback beats Ice Road.

They are always shifting locations and jobs in Australia, not being confined to Dalton or battle of the trucking companies.

Nice to see the difference between Australia s and USA and Canada's rigs.

Cab overs and Conventional s and their enormous road trains that make our Rocky Mountain Triples look like toys.

Good series, highly recommend it.

Dune
(2021)

slow and long
2022 starts out well, but then after that it is all downhill.

Dark and dank compared to the 1984 version.

The new Baron Harrkoneen is a bore. The actor plays him like a bored Mafia Don.

On the plus side they got the House Atredies uniforms close to the 1984 version.

This movie is a glass half full and a little more color would do. Too much shooting in Natural light in this century.

Lost in Space
(2018)

Good Reboot
Up to date version of the classic Lost in Space. I am not a fan of reboots, but like reboot of Battlestar Galactica. This one that I do enjoy . Believable and a nice turn compared to the Destruction that Kurtzman has wrought on Star Trek.

The producers are smart, keep it three season and wrap it up. The ending was a heart aching , but the series was worth it, I recommend it just like I recommend the Orville.

Star Trek: Lower Decks
(2020)

Idiots version of the classic Animated series.
They say you get what you pay for. Lower Decks is completely idiotic. Not funny and dumb..Another Alex Kurtzman failure. Prodigy which is for kids seems to be a major improvement over this cesspool of Kurtzman trash..

A Christmas Carol
(2019)

Dark and grim
For ambiance this version of a Christmas Carol beats out Patrick Stewart's hallmark mediocrity. But this one is so long and instead of sticking to tradition. Three ghost in one night, it does three ghosts in three night.

Guy Pearce is okay as Scrooge. But this should of taken place a decade after Marley's death not the next year.

Too much back story on Marley which reduced the scare factor.

Too much shifting the story around with extra scenes that slowed the movie down.

I will stick with Alastair Sim and George C Scott when it comes to Christmas Carols.

Too long and too drawn out is my final verdict.

A Nashville Christmas Carol
(2020)

A Christmas carol with a southern twang
A new take on the Christmas carol. Half on target and the rest flies off into fluff land. Good music numbers but not as fun as the best alternate version take Scrooge.

It felt kind off sappy and syrupy watching this alternate version.

Okay,but not really inspiring.
