Serenity
(2019)

Had me glued.. ignore the bad reviews.
I having read the reviews I was sceptical.. but watched it anyway. I was drawn in immediately. The acting was superb ..if the lead had been played by anyone else not sure it would have kept me as gripped.

I thought it was very good..clever but in a subtle way. It didnt try too hard. I'm honestly miffed at the low ratings. Watch it..ignore the low reviews and make your own mind up.

Mary Magdalene
(2018)

Beautiful..
I have seen pretty much every film about Jesus and Mary pout there and for me this felt the most truthful. It didn't need a huge amount of wasted dialogue to resonate the message of finding truth within ourselves. The exploration of what seems like a more real Mary (not the character invented/perverted by a man) was interesting to see. The acting was understated and as such so much more powerful. The story of Mary and her relationship with Jesus felt more real and not overplayed (although I would of liked to have seen that friendship fleshed out a little bit more). It's a truly beautiful film with an even more beautiful message, which when combined with the superb cinematography and musical score make for an immensely emotional film, which if I'm honest had me sobbing several times.

Watership Down
(2018)

Lacks the warmth and emotion..
For nostalgia purposes I watched the new watership down...had really hoped to enjoy it as i love the original. But it just doesn't have the emotion or heart of the original. Hazels character is cold by comparison...lacks the warmth compared to the original portrayal. In the original as a child I felt that emotional buy in, that bond with Hazel throughout. It lacks the character depth of the original for me. But I guess for today's snowflake generation it's less 'bloody...less realistic and more palatable.
