Great potential with a disappointing ending This movie flirts heavily with literature through its structure, characters' development and more importantly through its narration. If life was a narrator, what kind of narrative would it tell? And what kind of a narrator would it be? Should we trust life when it gives us love and hope? Or should we dwell on misery cause we know we are destined to defeat and heartbreak?
Four people, two generations and two continents show us how the lives of disparate people can become so entangled. Although the philosophical and the literary question the movie pursues is very intriguing, the plot is disappointingly naive. The movie is almost schizophrenic. Its beginning and development make you feel you are in front of a great film, something that reminds you of stranger than fiction but way more melancholic. However, it feels like another director was responsible for how the movie ended.
It is not a waste of time but definitely not a gem either!
