Leave It to Beaver: The Boat Builders
(1959)
Episode 16, Season 2

This a good episode, but as in most LITB episodes.....
Taking everything on this episode into account, it is one of the better episodes on the Leave it to Beaver series. It is one of the funniest, and is very creative in general. Now, the character of June Cleaver (Barbara Billingsley) is a typical Mom of the 1950s and early 1960s variety. In general she is very loving, watchful, and involved in the lives of not only her husband, but, also her children - in this case two boys. That said, there are a few rather negative things about the character of June Cleaver, and that is she has an overblown tendency to nag at the boys for every little thing. She is also a worry-wart to the extreme. Those two attributes in this episode called the boat builders is at a very high level, even compared with other episodes in the Leave it to Beaver entire series. It seems like she just will not allow her children be children, but rather, she wants to control and also, in a sense dominate everything about them. I was born in the 1950s, and while there might have been some mothers back then that were controlling, dominating worry-warts, there weren't many of them. My late Mother certainly was not as controlling or dominating, or a worry-wart even close to the likes of June Cleaver. In a broad sense, the creators of the show, IMHO, went a bit overboard by creating an all-knowing, all-seeing mother in June Cleaver. That could and should have been toned down a lot. But, even with the negativity of June Cleaver, and also sometimes with Ward Cleaver, this was a good episode, and the series is also good - one of my all time favorites - bossy mother or not.

Please understand that this is NO REFLECTION on mothers in general - just on June Cleaver, and especially in this episode.

The Lone Ranger
(1949)

A GREAT PROGRAM - BUT........
There is 100 percent lack of any doubt in my mind that the lone ranger is a great show. The plots, the acting, the cinematography, and even though it is basically a dramatic type of program, elements of humor are very frequently introduced into almost every episode in one way or another.

I do have a tiny little problem with the show, and this is the way some of the supporting characters are presented. This comment of mine is generally true for the entire series. Actually this is more like a couple of questions for the creators of the program, more than a statement of any kind. And that is - why in the world are the vast majority of the sheriff's deputies always crooked in some manner or other?

The other question is - why are the vast majority of children in this program careless and/or foolhardy to the max - or - they are just downright stupid?

Leave It to Beaver: Wally's Haircomb
(1959)
Episode 34, Season 2

A VERY GOOD EPISODDE
This Is A Rather Good Episode, And I Thought That Wally's "Hairstyle" Was Very Cool. So Is The Music When The Focus Is On Wally's Hair.!!!

Now, June Cleaver Is Nothing But A Little Tyrant Who Seems To Be Unable To Think Out Of The Box, And Live And Let Live. She Wants, And Probably Craves Control. And, In My Humble Opinion, She Is Not Concerned As Much About Wally's Hairstyle As She Is Concerned With How Other People Seeing Wally's Hairstyle Will Reflect On Her, And Possibly On Ward As Well. How Petty. How Damn Petty.

And, This Wretched Business About Running To Wally's Principal Is A Rather Immature Act of Desperation That Is Totally Unnecessary. Of Course, Proper Appearance To Her Is Insanely Vital - Most Like Due To The Influence Of Her Overbearing Aunt Martha.

Good Grief. June Needs To Grow Up, And Let Wally Grow Up, Instead Of Trying To Shape Him Into Some Preconceived Mold Of How A Teenager "SHOULD" Look Like. Boy Oh Bpy!!!

The Simpsons: Lisa the Boy Scout
(2022)
Episode 3, Season 34

The Very Worst Episode Of The Simpsons Ever Made!!
It Would Be Wonderful To Actually Have The Ability, When Rating Television Shows On "The Internet Movie Database Website", To Give A Rating Of Zero, Or Below Zero. This Particular Episode Of The Simpsons Deserves - Oh - Let's See - Ummmmmm - A Negative 100 Points At Best. It Is Beyond Boring, Beyond Stupid, And Beyond Terrible. One Might Even Call This Particular Episode Of The Simpsons "Pornographic", Because It Has ZERO Socially Redeeming Quality At All.

It is nothing But A Bunch Of Ridiculous Images - Strung Together - In A Crude Manner - And The Creators Of This Trash Had The Nerve To Call The Simpsons. Nope. No Socially Redeeming Value In This Episode At All.

The Lone Ranger: The Black Hat
(1950)
Episode 36, Season 1

A GOOD EPISODE, ALTHOUGH, WHO ISS HE?
This is a really good, and very compelling episode of The Lone Ranger. The flow of it is, in general, better than most other episodes. There are few to none in the way of slow moments, or convoluted content. Now, I for one need to know the answer to this question, OK? WHO PLAYED "FRANK", THE LITTLE GUY TOWARDS THE END OF THE EPISODE???? He was totally uncredited, which does not seem fair. IF anyone know who he is, PLEASE shoot me an e-mail at dwg853 at juno dott comm. THANKS, DAVE.

Moonrise Kingdom
(2012)

AN EXTRAORDINARY MOVIE
TRUTH BE TOLD, I LITERALLY COULD NOT STOP WATCHING THIS MOVIE. PERIOD. THE WRITING, THE PLOT, THE ACTING, THE MUSIC, THE SCENERY AND CINEMATOGRAPHY, AND THE TOTAL AMBIANCE, AND DREAM-LIKE QUALITY OF THE MOVIE ABSOLUTELY ENRAPTURED, ENCHANTED AND MOVED ME TO THE VERY CORE OF MY BEING.

ON A SCALE OF 1 TO HUNDRED, WHERE 1 IS WORST, AND 100 IS BEST, I WOULD GIVE IT A SCORE OF ABOUT 200. A FANTASTICALLY EXCELLENT MOVIE THAT PROVES TO ME THAT THE OLD FILM-MAKING ART IN HOLLYWOOD IS ABSOLUTELY NOT DEAD,

The Simpsons: The Musk Who Fell to Earth
(2015)
Episode 12, Season 26

DESTROYING AN AMERICAN EAGLE. THAT IS A TRAVESTY.
OK. This Episode Started Out To Be Sort Of Interesting. But Then, An American Eagle Was Harmed. Then The Stinksins Took Care Of Him. Extremely Sadly, They Let The Proud Eagle Go, But He Was Destroyed By That Pathetic Elon Musk And His Bloody Space Rocket. For The Producers Of This Garbage To So Calmly And Blithely Use Such A Brave Creature - The American Eagle, As Fodder For This Ridiculous Episode, Made Me Insanely Furious. I Have Been A Simpsons Fan Since Day One, And Many Of Their Episodes Have Been More Watchable Than Most Of The Trash That Is On The Broadcast Television Stations, But For The Stinksins To Downplay The Destruction Of An American Eagle, Was Too Much For Me. I Might Watch The Stinksins Again, But If This Kind Of Event Ever Happens Again, I Am Totally Through With The Stinksins. The Producers Are Damn Cruel M-fuggahz, As Is Everyone Else Who Was Involved In The Creation Of This Travesty.

Call Me Kat
(2021)

I LIKE THIS SHOW. IT HAS A TON OF POTENTIAL
Candidly, I Totally Did NOT Like Mayim Bialik Character Blossom, In "Blossom" At All. Nope, Not At All. And Her Character In "the Big Bang Theory" Was Not Exactly All That Much Better, Either. But, In This Show, "Call Me Kat", Somehow, I Just Absolutely Love Her To Pieces. She Has Totally Relaxed Her Previous "Stiff" Acting Style Into One That Is Refreshing, Believable, And Lovable. And, Leslie Jordan Is A Hoot, As Is Swoosie Kurtz. Yes, Indeed. This Is A Show With Much Promise. Really Top-notch In My Book.

Are You Being Served?: The Erotic Dreams of Mrs Slocombe
(1981)
Episode 7, Season 8

UTTERLY HILARIOUS
I found this episode to be, possibly, the funniest episode of AYBS, and possibly, the funniest episode of any sitcom of any country. It was stunningly hilarious. The writing was insanely superb, and the acting was truly golden, to say the very least. I have never laughed so much at any other episode of AYBS, or any other sitcom, period. I wish that I could give it many more stars than ten. So dang funny. Absolutely hilarious.

Love Island USA
(2019)

A very pathetic and ridiculous show. I wish that I could give it a zero.
This show, like almost all "reality" shows is the biggest pile of skunk feces that I have ever attempted to watch. Nothing but narcissistic, spoiled rotten, bratty little immature boys and girls who were born with a platinum spoon in their mouths. They probably come from wealth, and I assume that they have never done any physical work in their entire life -- and I know for certain, that while their butts should have been beaten hard when they were kids, that never happened. And, their vocabulary skills are insanely child-like. Every other word is "like", or "hot". These "people" are the absolutely, without any doubt, 'the young, and the worthless'.

Prescription: Murder
(1968)

A FAIRLY GOOD EPISODE, WITH TOO MUCH LOUD NOISE.
While "Columbo", with Peter Falk is generally a fabulous show, i have one big complaint. And that, is all of the numerous sound effects throughout many episodes, especially the earlier ones, like this one. And in general, the music and the sound effects are purely too, too loud for my taste. The music and sounds should be background level, not foreground level.

All said, this episode, "Prescription Murder" is jam-packed full of loud, annoying, and very distracting music and sound effects. Maybe all of the noise bothers me, because i am a classically trained musician. Definitely a possibility. At any rate, i would suggest that before watching the majority of the earlier columbo episodes, especially this first one, and a lot of the newer episodes, adjust you sound equalizer if you have one.

You will be so glad that you did use that equalizer --- unless you are one of those birds that do not hear, or care about background music, and noise. Merely my two cents worth.

The Office
(2005)

MUCH worse than Jackie Gleason's "You're in the Picture".
This TV show is without any doubt in my mind, the very, very, very worst TV show ever made. Why people like it, or worse than that love it numbs my entire brain. This show has very terrible acting, including looking at the camera OFTEN. This show has character names that totally lack imagination, going so far as to use the actors names as the character's names. This show has screwed up characters, as in using one actor to play multiple characters during one episode. This asinine show has absolutely no laugh track whatsoever, and DAMN, does it need a laugh track. This show, way too often, starts at the wrong time, as in the introduction of the show coming after a scene or two. Now, this next part is truly unsettling, but the damn crew members appear on the set out of nowhere. Boy, oh boy. A totally hideous show. Please take a look at the show again, using analytical eyes. If you then still like the damn show, then please get thee to Hades, you ignorant, brainwashed moron.

The Shawshank Redemption
(1994)

AN UTTERLY FANTASTIC MOVIE.
I had heard about the movie since it first came out, but somehow, I never got around to watching it. Now, I super-glad that I watched it. It is an utterly fantastic movie, to the max. The movie contains almost every human emotion that there is, and overall, it is a totally wonderful character study, as well. There is marvelous writing, and a totally well thought-out plot, and the acting talent throughout is on an almost otherworldly level. It is a movie that captured my attention from the very beginning, keeping me totally engaged throughout for the entire duration of the film. All said, this is yet another movie that I truly wish that I could give more than ten stars, because it truly deserves many, many stars.

La planète sauvage
(1973)

An insanely lovable, and oh-so-perfect movie
"Fantastic Planet". What Can I Say? How Much Can I Say? I Sincerely Wish That I Could Give The Movie 1000 Stars, Instead Of Merely 10 Stars. Finally, A Science Fiction Movie With Totally Real Intelligence, And Artistically Far-reaching Genius. A Movie That Changed My Life, Forever. What Amazingly Gorgeous Animation, Special Effects, Plot, Gloriously Unpredictable Yet Likable Characters, And Fantastic Music That Was Beyond Perfect For The Movie. So Dang Good. Now, Are You Getting The Idea That I Might Love The Movie? Well, Dear Reader --- You Are Spot On. It Is My All Time Favorite Movie. BAR NONE !

High Plains Drifter
(1973)

BEYOND MAGNIFICENT
This movie is SO great, that I wish one could give it more than 10 stars. FANTASTIC WRITING, ACTING, CINEMATOGRAPHY, MUSIC, AND EVERYTHING ELSE that makes for an astoundingly GREAT movie is here in this film.

The Simpsons: Warrin' Priests: Part 1
(2020)
Episode 19, Season 31

Terrible episode
Irreverent, ungodly, anti-christian garbage. Promotion of the New World Order's ALL RELIGIONS non-religion. You should be ashamed of yourselves for this trashy, scar on the back of the faith of millions and millions of true believers putrid pile of dung. Hopefully, you are able to write something better than this sub-subpar rubbish, so write something better already..

The Beverly Hillbillies: The Clampetts Fiddle Around
(1968)
Episode 25, Season 6

MY FAVORITE EPISODE OF THE ENTIRE SERIES
"The Clampetts Fiddle Around" is my all-time favorite episode, and is in my mind, definitively, the crown of the entire series. Jethro (Max Baer) is in absolute tip-top form, and Hans Conreid (as Maestro Stromboli) rocks to the max !!! Also, this episode, IMHO, comes the closest to the name and premise of the entire series - namely, the Hillbillies are not able to understand "normal" Beverly Hills culture - (music, in this case) as they are merely "from another world", musically, and otherwise.

Mike & Molly
(2010)

I wish I could give it a much higher score than 10.
The appearance of the wonderful, fresh show named "Mike and Molly" shows me that Hollywood has re-gained the ability to write truly good comic humor. Finally, a show that is TONS better than (IMHO) the lackluster drivel like the shows Bob Newhart, Cheers, Coach, Designing Women, Friends, Golden Girls, Laverne & Shirley, Mary Tyler Moore, Maude, Seinfeld, Taxi, The Cosby Show, and WKRP In Cincinnati. "Mike and Molly" Is ONE funny, funny show !!!

Leave It to Beaver: Ward's Problem
(1958)
Episode 3, Season 2

If Saturday is a problem....
This is not so much a review, as it is simply an observation not only about this episode, but others that had a very similar dilemma. I really, really want to know, exactly, and precisely, why in the world that Ward Cleaver did not even think about taking Beaver Cleaver where he needed to go on that particular Saturday in question, and then have the oh-so-unique idea of taking Wally Cleaver where he needed to go, on, let's see, Sunday. Yes. Ward could have very easily taken Wally where he needed to go on, gasp, a Sunday !!! An idea whose time has come. Think about it.

Caddyshack II
(1988)

This "movie" Is without any merit, whatsoever !!!
I very much wish that I could give this movie a zero, or a negative number. The talents of these enormously talented actors - Jackie Mason, Robert Stack, Dyan Cannon, Randy Quaid, Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd were enormously wasted in this film that took away 98 minutes of my precious life. Were the writers, producers and the director of this tragedy on some kind of hallucinogenic drugs, or were they just so lacking in talent that they could not produce a much, much, much better sequel than this disaster??? I feel like I totally deserve to receive every penny of the money that I wasted going to see this bad, really bad flop of a film. I expected a much better film than this monstrosity. There is some debate as to which movie made, throughout the history of film is the worst. Well, this "film" puts an end to the debate. It is the worst movie of them all. It was not even slightly funny. In fact, nothing in the movie made me smile, let alone laugh. I will never understand why in the world the big talents I mentioned earlier didn't merely walk away from this movie after reading the script. Even the gopher was UN-funny. It was just another annoyance in this totally rotten tomato of a film.

Humoresque
(1946)

This is one great movie
I love this movie, and I gave it ten stars. Although, this is mainly because of the presence of Oscar Levant in the cast. With out Mr. Levant, the movie would have been pretty good, but with his presence, it becomes sensational. I cannot understand why Oscar not receive at least a nomination for best supporting actor, or did he? At any rate, the casting director made a fabulous choice, for NO one on the planet could have played Sid Jeffers with as much skill, and panache.

OK, on to the movie itself. It is a splendid representation of a struggling violinist who has quite an ego, which is sometimes the case with great violinists. Joan Crawford, as his devotee/lover was a good casting choice, although at times she over-did the assertiveness of the character when she first met Paul. But, maybe this is according to Hoyle, according to the book itself, which I have not read. The other supporting actors were excellent choices as well. So, here we have a great movie with a good plot, good acting (GREAT acting in the case of Mr. Levant- not really acting in the traditional sense, but a stage presence of GIGANTIC proportions). Also, the stupendous musical score throughout really makes one happy to be alive upon listening to it.

7th Heaven
(1996)

Is this show for real???
This show is without a doubt a burlesque of a television show about a family. As to the quality, "Father knows best", "Leave it to Beaver", and Andy Griffith" have NOTHING to worry about. They are great. 7th Heaven is NOT great. NOT good. Just passable. The ONLY reason that I gave it 1 star is because of the nice looking Beverly Mitchell. I will mention three problems with the show that I had. First off, the Father, the "Reverend" is not very reverential. Sure, clergy are human, of course, but certainly, MOST clergy cope with their families a LITTLE better than this character did. Number two, why in the world are these children SO snotty and SO whiny ALL THE TIME? All they do is whine and complain. They are NEVER happy with ANYTHING. And, number three, the dialog sounds like it was written by a first year film student who is getting a D+ in class. Also, the acting is really SUB-par, just about two steps above the movie "Plan Nine from Outer Space". All of the actors were obviously chosen for their looks number 1, and for their acting ability number 4 or 5 at best. The entire show is almost like watching the stepford wives, except that EVERYONE acts like a Stepford wife in the show. My recommendation: if there is NOTHING ELSE on TV, this MIGHT be a way to kill an hour. Otherwise, steer clear of this, unless you like good looking whiny, spoiled, pretentious people, attempting to act. And, the dialog, well, that is NOT good, period. All said, the BEST part of the entire series might just be the dog, but it has an attitude, also! Sheesh !!!!!

A Christmas Carol
(2009)

An absolutely splendid movie. At the very least, my all time favorite of the "Scrooge" movies
The following five "A Christmas Carol" movies are considered by many to be the finest of the entire bunch of "Scrooge" movies - H.V. Esmond (1922), Seymour Hicks (1913), Alastair Sim (1951), Albert Finney (1970), Seymour Hicks (1935). My personal favorite of these movies has always been the Alastair Sim 1951 version.

That is, until now. Until this newest, and in my most humble opinion, most wonderful version of them all. I just could not have speculated by any means that such a level of movie making could have been reached in my lifetime. There was not any particular element in the entire movie that I loved more than any other elements in the movie. It was just the entire movie as a whole.

Considering the elements of the movie individually, though, I asked myself some questions about the elements in the movie. Was it the fantastic special effects that were made even more beautiful when viewed in 3 dimensional mode? Was it the absolutely gorgeous, lush, extremely stirring and emotionally domineering musical score presented in the style of the very best of the older Walt Disney offerings? Was it the acting, which I found more than splendid, more than stupendous, verging on an almost otherworldly level of artistry and skill? Was it the simple fact that this version was almost 100 percent in keeping with Charles Dickens original writings?

Any of these elements of the film would have made it a prize winner by themselves. Although, the entire combination of all of these film making elements put together, for me personally, and hopefully for anyone that views this delightful offering, will prove that this movie is absolutely the finest animated (or semi-animated) movie EVER made. This movie is, in my humble opinion the finest Disney movie EVER made, and is possibly is the FINEST movie ever made, period.

Hollywood Steps Out
(1941)

Watch this cartoon with an open mind.
What is this rubbish about this cartoon being confusing - confusing - really??? Anyway, although this short is not the very, very best piece of animation from Warner Bros., how can you not like it? It moves very quickly, has tons of celebrities (even though you might know who they are), and the music is wonderful. Please watch it on it's own merit, without any kind of bias. Forget about not knowing who all the celebrities are - just enjoy the sight gags, which are definitely funny. Also forget about any jokes that you cannot understand. The statement from someone on this board stating that the jokes are too difficult to understand, is something that I cannot understand, as just about anyone from around age 6 and up can understand or at least appreciate this cartoon. The jokes and sight gags are very obvious. So, why anyone cannot understand the jokes, etc. is a mystery to me! At any rate, just relax, enjoy the fantastic music (The CONGA, by the way, NOT the CHA-CHA as someone mentioned on this board), and the fast pace, and the great animation. This cartoon is very fun, in 1941, in 1975 and in 2009.

The Time Machine
(1960)

A deeply moving film
While the special effects of the 2002 remake of The Time Machine are truly quite interesting, I really much prefer the more subtle and much more profound nature of the 1960 version. Yes, the special effects are not as good as the 2002 vehicle, but you have to remember that this film was of course made in 1960, when special effects were a bit more primitive than nowadays. This 1960 version of The Time Machine just happens to be, in my humble opinion, a multi-layered movie of enormous warmth, depth, and wealth of philosophical feeling (although some folks might not get that impression after only one viewing). I think that it is definitely right up there philosophically with a profound nature that closely approaches the visionary quality of the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey". Now, it must be said that I for one could absolutely watch this 1960 version of The Time Machine every day for 100 years, and never get tired of it....ever, if only I had the time !!!
