Still worthwhile enjoyable sequel despite... Don't see this sequel of Conan The Barbarian as a much lesser one than its predecessor.
Though again don't expect superb special effects, remember these are the 80's, way before CGI blue/green screen came in. Lacking the depth of the original. Clunky acting and script. Far from perfect but entertaining still very much, silly light no harm amusing stereotype sword'n sorcery story.
The pacing sits well, doesn't get boring. you get lots of extra goodies you didn't get in the first movie. So in a way they kicked it up a notch and made up for cheap, empty dialogue and some questionable acting. The tone, feel of the movie seems lighter more early teenkid friendly, less dramatic than the first one. You get more action and fight scenes.
The score again however is amazing! Done by the same composer Basil Poledouris who did the first movie.
Incredible landscapes also, great cinematography and very good photography so lotsa positives that make up for any bad points. Wasn't a huge box office success, opinions were divided. Not sure The Howard Conan saga deserved this middle of the road approach in the end. They should have been wiser and visualise it in the way the Harry Potter stories were visualised from the novels on the big screen in 8 movies with a serious tone..
Definitely not worse than The Barbarian.
Still good and lotsa fun moments on various levels.
