Halloween
(2007)

A remarkable take on the classic story
I've just rewatched it again on the occasion of Spooktober and gotta say it's magnificent from the beginning to the end.

First of all, it provides a more developed backstory as to why Michael became who he is, complementing it with family issues & unknown evil capturing his personality when locked in a mental hospital.

Secondly, it's really rare to find a horror movie packed with a good pinch of drama. The one that doesn't look cringy at least...

And the fact it's directed by Rob Zombie kinda provides a strong guarantee that all the on-screen violence will be delivered in the craziest way possible.

To sum up, tribute paid well in its own original way.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre
(2022)

Good ol' Texas massacre
Turn off your brain and just enjoy it for the sake of the outstanding saga. Yes, there's a lot of flaws and overall it feels like the script was just a mess of random kill scenes. But if you're a slasher fan, that's what you have to expect watching movies like this one. Thrilling, gripping and blood-spilling stuff with no room for common sense. The bus scene is super cool and is probably a quintessence of this so-called 'sequel'. Yeah, could've been way better, but we have what we have. Nothing beats the TCM with Matthew McConaughey anyway lol. Looking forward to more.

Haunt
(2019)

Decent slasher
As a big slasher fan, I've seen enough. However this one made a big surprise for me. With its scary locations and antagonists, the movie definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. The storyline and dialogues are good as well, however the scenes aren't bloody enough, and that's probably the biggest minus for me. Would surely think of becoming a series fan, if there was a sequel coming tho.

Breach
(2007)

Thrilling and entertaining
A perfect example of how a movie based on true events should be made. That's the case, when the cast and the well-written script do the job. From the start to the very ending, it doesn't let you press a pause button. I just put everything aside and let myself dissolve watching an internal FBI investigation the movie tells about. Even though, the story itself sounds a bit boring, the storytelling and the chemistry between main characters bring it to a whole new level. Definitely one of the most qualitative things I have watched in a while and one of the best movies from 'Spies', 'FBI', 'Information leakage' categories to date.

Runaway Jury
(2003)

An example of how a perfect legal thriller should be made
Honestly I'd avoided this movie for a long time, but it turned out to be the most interesting movie I watched in 2021 up till now.

Weak movie description is the main reason to what kept me away from watching it. I assumed it would've been as boring as 'Verdict' with Paul Newman (good movie tho).

All in all, legal movies are cool, but it takes for me to have a special mood to watch one. And this time it felt something different. I had as much pleasure watching it as I did with 'A time to kill', but this one is less serious and more entertaining. Would compare it to a three-man chess game. The good, the evil and the money-thirsty. But there's much more the movie has to offer with its twists and turns.

Boogie Nights
(1997)

An interesting story made incredibly boring
It seems very interesting at the beginning, but gets boring as the story progresses.

Some scenes just make no sense and seem completely out of place.

The movie about porn should be made to entertain people with food for thought. In this case it's all the way the food for thought. Maybe it was the director's point, but the movie didn't entertain me at all.

5/10 for good acting, 70s atmosphere, music etc It wasn't a bad movie, but overrated imo & definitely not worth 2h 30 min of watching it.
