The genre is dramatized documentary film, which means that the film is influenced by both documentary and fiction narrative style. The interviews heard in the film are authentic and the situations described in the interviews have been dramatized in scenes interpreted by actors. Apart from Marissa, a number of people connected to the events are interviewed. The interviewees include Marissa's former boyfriend Risto, Detective Superintendent Mika Tauru, Embassy official Päivi Akkanen-Kouki and safe house employee Pentti Petroff. The actors performing the dramatized scenes are Stella Kylä-Liuhala, Kiumars Zarei, Henri Tuominen, Nora Löfving-Lihtonen, Kerli Kyllönen and Pihla Maalismaa. Back Towards Light was shot in Finland and Tunisia. In Tunisia the filming was carried out in collaboration with the local production company Sindbad Productions.

Going from one hotel to another is lonely, giving this father of three plenty of time to muse over his life and his stardom. Even with its deep themes and the ruggedness of both the Finnish landscape and the man living in it, the film is still warm, benevolent, humorous and entertaining, just like Jorma. And of course it is full of great, catchy music.

In Jorge's stories one can feel the presence of Mafia and Fidel Castro but also of Frank Sinatra, Ava Gardner, Errol Flynn, Johnny Weismüller and Winston Churchill. The film reflects through one man the whole identity of Cuba and the fabulous legend of a nation that was born with the revolution. Jorge is everything the Cuban imagination can develop and also part of a complicated history.

- Tobacco Girls is a film about three women, Karoliina, Tuula and Raija, who try to cope with losing their long-term jobs. After operating for 54 years in the town of Tuusula, the Amer-Tupakka tobacco company closed down in spring 2004 and 260 employees were fired. Thousands and thousands of jobs in Finnish industry have disappeared. Finland is preparing for a new society where employees will increasingly work as specialists and consultants. The sad thing is that education lags behind for a couple of generations. What are the possibilities for uneducated women to return to the labour market? Courses must be taken just for the sake of it. Other courses that would help factory workers to get re-employed are not arranged. What is the purpose of the State's labour force policy? Tobacco Girls follows the life of three women for almost two years and shows through personal emotions and experiences what really happens to the unemployed factory workers.
