- This is the story of Wojtek - a magnificent 500lb military bear who fought in World War Two alongside a band of Polish soldiers, shared their beer and cigarettes - and eventually their fate. Through understanding the life and death of this unique creature we discover new meanings to the terms immigrant, patriot, and human being.
- Sule is a hard-living, chain smoking poet - one of the few remaining bohemians left in London's Portobello. Drinking and gambling with his eastern european friends has left him estranged from his family and, even though he is surrounded with people, he feels utterly alone. His one consolation is his dream of one day returning to his beloved place of birth. But when his best friend dies, Sule is thrown into crisis. Suddenly confronted with his own mortality, Sule gets one last chance to turn things around when the Bosnian embassy invites him to exhibit a series of paintings entitled Guidance Through the Black Hole. The date for the exhibition is set, but the paintings are still not finished and Sule knows that if he is to succeed he must first overcome his vices. The question is: can Sule escape his dark past and find a way out of the black hole that he is creating on his canvases?

The past however still returns in painful memories. Gradually the film unveils the motivations that have led Juan to Pomfret. Is he a saint? A fugitive? Lunatic? Or perhaps Juan, accepting a disgrace of the Apartheid, tries to pay the debt?
- Dari Mankoo and his family who live in London, come from Kenya, were born Indian Sikh and after many years decide to emigrate to Australia. But they would like to be aware of their roots and pass this awareness on to their children. To this end, they go on a family tour to India, with special emphasis on the Sikh places of worship. For Kiran, a teenage girl born in Europe, this will be an experience of a very special kind.
