The two share many similarities, with the isekai trope being popular in both Japan and Korea. However, one trope that has exploded in popularity with manhwa instead of manga is the returner trope. With hundreds of series focusing on a protagonist that returns to the past, the trope has gotten oversaturated. But this new series changes it all.

The returner trope sees a main character returning to some point in the past through magical means, often after dying. With this, the character is given the opportunity to change their future. The stories that use this trope vary widely, with some taking place in the present day such as Marry My Husband, while other popular series like My In-Laws Are Obsessed with Me take place in a medieval setting, like many reincarnation isekai anime.
