Though it might not be automatically seen as a "mecha anime" series, the Transformers franchise is as much a Japanese property as it is a Western one. In fact, many of the original series' toys and characters were derived from pre-existing anime toylines. This ended up tying two somewhat obscure Autobots with an even more overlooked Real Robot anime series.

Special Armored Battalion Dorvack is far from a well-known anime – even mecha aficionados are likely to unfamiliar with it.
