Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ stands as one of the most iconic religion-based films of all time. Much like most films of its kind, the film faced some controversy around its release. However, it was also immensely critically acclaimed outside of the religious overtones.

The project ended up becoming one of Gibson’s most iconic works to date, earning several accolades and even three Academy Award nominations. The project details the journey of Jesus Christ after he was betrayed and crucified. However, for years, the director has been looking to make a sequel, wanting to continue the tale he was trying to tell.
