this is the worst show i've ever seen. the special effects are laughable, but not laughable enough to be watchable. the stories are either impossible to follow, or so poorly written and acted that one doesn't follow them. if, for some reason, you found yourself interested in this show in advance of seeing it (as opposed to, say, unhappily finding it crap up one's TV after x-files on TNT, as happened to me), avoid it. maybe you love Arthur Conan Doyle. i hear this series has little to do with his story. notably, i would say "i hear" even if i had sat in front of the TV while the entire series played, as well as read the book; paying attention to this show is a fool's game that i cannot bear to play. i hate this show, and for the sake of my belief in humanity, i want you to hate this show. don't ever watch it.

it's a silly movie. ridiculous jokes abound. but for some reason, i can't help but like jack elliot, nor can i help but enjoying his misadventures in japanese baseball. yes, it's a cheesy love story, and a cheesy inspirational sports story, but it's more than that: it's a story full of ridiculous and funny jokes. from tall men walking through too-small doors to inaccurate translators, this movie has it all for the average comedy fan. don't bother bringing your brain (to be cliche), but be prepared to be taken to the pit of ultimate darkness. i've seen this movie over 50 times.
