I used to write reviews for every movie I watched and then I stopped because it took too much effort. But this movie made me want to write again...
It's soo unrealistic and I know some people don't care but when you've got a protagonist who is convinced she can out swim 5 gators because she's been swimming since she was 5, you start to question it.
Overall, it's entertaining, I'll give it that, but it's beyond unrealistic and the girl makes some pretty questionable choices.
This movie follow the story of an outbreak of ebola in Nigeria and a group of doctors' attempt to contain it. What I particularly liked about this movie was the way the characters were introduced before the virus spread and the story really began. When I watched it, the doctors weren't just doctors, they had lives and families and it made it harder to watch. Not going to lie, it's a slow movie but that's because it was the only way to show that tension and fear that the patients felt while in quarantine. Again, this movie is not for everyone but I would recommend it. The acting is also pretty good.
As a fan of Luc Besson, my expectations were pretty high. He's got a particular style, despite majority of his most popular films being sci fi or action, there's a certain quirkiness to them, some darkness too. Valerian had great special effects, average acting and a pretty good plot that didn't have plot holes, actually made sense and was kind of applicable to real life actually. Personally not my favourite sci fi movie, nor my favourite Luc Besson movie but still a good watch.
