Ashton Kutcher's performance and betrayal of Steve Jobs was good, he had his walk down like he was walking with his knees not his legs. If any of you remember when the first Playstation came out there was game that came with it called Abe's Odysey, Abe was an alien type creature who had a walk very similar to Steve Jobs maybe they took inspiration from Jobs for the game. Ashton did well to be fair with his mannerisms, voice mannerisms even sounded like him at times with the shots that were filmed from a distance you could mistake Ashton for the real Steve Jobs.
That was probably the only decent part of the film. Reading about it, it sounds like the film only really covered the basics of what went on during those early years of Steve Jobs and Apple. Obviously i wasn't present in these times i wasn't even born till the first Macintosh was launched, which seems crazy because personal computers wasn't even a thing or on my radar until i was 8 years old seeing one in school in first year of junior school was just a curiosity we was like Monkeys with sticks prodding it waiting to see what it'll do. So for me Steve Jobs was way ahead of his time and his innovative ways. I guess the film dabbled in that in ways showed Steve's drive and ambition, his passion for high standards in his products but the story was lacking all that, all that what Steve believed in. Seemed half arsed to be honest. They didn't have to make stories up or dramatise events, if they just delved a little deeper i think they would of found a story which would of been powerful and honest. Shame really with all the great actors they had on board this film could of been something special, opportunity lost i think. Just a glazed over look a passing glance of the life of Steve Jobs if they looked a little deeper in Steve's eyes this product too could of been something.
It is a great story told brilliantly by J.C. Chandor. For someone who isn't fluid in the stocks and shares of the trading game I could just about manage to understand what was going on in the film. It didnt go over my head put it that way and I'm in no way financially minded.
Such a collaboration of top quality actors Quinto was good, Tucci, Irons, Bettany, Baker I'd imagine it was a festival of goosebumps watching these powerhouses act. I was in awe just been sat here in my living room watching it, imagine watching them up close and personal.
Great film, great story and a great cast.
Considering he's not in the film that much and the film is named after his character he steals the whole show when he appears front and centre. He is so good you're amazed by him I wouldn't be surprised if Jim Carrey didnt use Michael Keaton's performance as Beetlejuice as a template for his fantastical cartoon character Stanley Ipkiss in the The Mask.
Love the B Movie special fx and the Shake Senora dance scene.
Little peave though was Betelgeuse/Beetlejuice dilemma. Wish they explained it a bit better thought I was having a dyslexic turn kept checking after all these years in was reading the name of the film wrong, kept stopping the film to check the title. The only downfall.
All in all funny and out there film. I'd just watch it for Keaton's performance.
