While it wasn't without its issues, Netflix's live-action remake of Avatar: The Last Airbender has been renewed through to conclusion, a rare feat for shows on the streamer nowadays. The remake was a darker, grittier take on the beloved animated series. It condensed the original story quite substantially, dropping some storylines altogether and blending arcs. The way it was adapted for live-action has its benefits and drawbacks, but overall it worked out pretty well.

The remake was announced way back in 2018. It underwent various changes (not least of all original series creators Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko dropping out) before it ultimately premiered in 2024. The show had an enormous production that utilized some of the most groundbreaking technologies in filmmaking. It's now been over a year since the debut season dropped, and fans are expecting updates on the status of season 2. In short: don't expect any new episodes this year.
