I truly don't get the people talking about how good this is, even those saying "it's so bad it's good." No it's not, it's not good in any way!

My husband and I TRIED to watch it and changed the channel about a 1/3 of the way into it. There is NO plot, no story...no, nothing. The writing is horrible, the camera operation is horrible (it's seriously a hand held camera that is so jittery it might induce motion sickeness.) And the "action", which I get is supposed to be over the top...is stupid with one bad decision after the next...with no one catching this guy....really???

Then there is the continuity as well...which is non-existent. In one shot of him in a hospital gown his butt is hanging out, int another where he's jumping in a hospital gown, he's wearing shorts (that's just one example."

I expected better honestly.

I am someone who doesn't need a conventionally thrilling movie, I like artistic films, sci-fi, foreign films etc. This film however, had me wondering what in the world I had just wasted my time watching. I honestly, could not believe I watched the whole thing...but to be truthful, I kept thinking, something has to actually happen at some point...and it did, but man was it wierd...at the end.

This is definitely one of those movie where it's best if you have actually read the book, which I had not done. If you haven't read this, you're going to be lost, there simply isn't enough explanation for the viewer to really understand for quite some time who she is and what is going on. It's just slow, really quiet, and very dark....perfect for napping.

I rarely give a one star review, and I won't on this one either. I think Scarlett Johannsen played the role as it was meant to be played, but I also think trying to film something almost in real time where there is very little that happens...makes for an extremely dull film.

I'm sorry, this is just not a good movie. It could have potential but the screenplay is simply lacking so much! Rico Verhoeven, is a mammoth of a man who obviously has fighting skill, but his acting is quite flat, emotionless, and he lacks any chemistry with the other actors. If the story had been stronger, that might have helped him out...but, it seems he just happens to go by his best friends home and stumbles into a situation because????????

Amersterdam makes a wonderful background, once I figured out that is where they were...for a time I thought they were supposed to be in France. But, that kind of adds to what I'm talking about...nothing in this movie is clear, nothing really has a point or a clear objective. In short...it's really a mess.

I wouldn't recommend wasting your time on it.
