Mappa, the studio behind popular anime such as Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, Hell's Paradise and Lazarus, established its boys' love-focused companion studio, Grizzly, in December 2017. Less than a decade later, Grizzly has permanently closed its doors.

Despite only having a few complete works under its belt, Grizzly was co-founded by Mappa CEO and public representative Manabu Ootsuka. Per Anime Atelier, the National Tax Registry and Commercial Registry of Japan reported Grizzly's closure on Feb. 20. The studio's debut work was the 2018 Ova adaptation of Ogeretsu Tanaka's titular manga series, Yarichin Bitch Club. The story revolves around Takashi Tono, a boy who transfers to a boarding school in the mountains. During his first week, he joins a "photography club" that actually turns out to be a host club for students and teachers alike.
