- The French society of movie directors (SRF - Société des Réalisateurs de Films) boycotts the awards ceremony to express their disapprobation on the future agreement Canal+ - Murdoch like on the legal decision on the business TPS-Channel+, bringing the system of financing in French cinema into question.
2006
- The ceremony is delayed for about 20 minutes by a demonstration of film workers. About 200 protesters make their case outside while a dozen activists seeking more rights for temporary employees are rushing the stage.
