‘Blue Box’ Took Love Triangles to the Next Level With Its Most Heartbreaking Episode
2025 is a good year for anime fans who love realistic romance plotlines, where you can root for every character involved. Blue Box is a unique series that blends a sports anime with typical high school drama, without being too annoying. It refuses to put their characters into boxes, making them feel like genuine people.
The protagonists, Taiki and Chinatsu, are the obvious couple in Blue Box who will end up together in the end, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a few rivals down the road. The male lead’s childhood best friend, Hina, has a one-sided crush on him.
Usually, fans would be frustrated at someone disrupting the lead couple’s dynamic. However, Hina ended up becoming a fan favorite, and we felt terrible for her when she got rejected. It’s rare when a romance anime can make us feel devastated for the rival in a love triangle.
