Chapter #15 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex showed a conversation between Kawaki and Boruto, and it was surprisingly a calm one without violence. Boruto told him the true danger that the self-aware God Trees, especially Jura, pose, and asked him for help in taking them down.

He also told him that as he is, he wouldn't be of any use in a fight. This is when he revealed that Amado put limiters on Kawaki's power and he should go and talk to him about it.
