Editors' Picks: Our Favorite Things From the Week of June 178 of 10
TV Revival of the Week
When MTV confirmed a series of reboots of some of its best original series this week, "Daria" struck the most resonant chord for us. Sure, we've missed Daria's sardonic wit and her embodiment of everything "outsider" as she trudged through high school in the 1990s, but the news that she'd be joined by one of her allies, Jodie Landon, in the new show filled us with a wild sense of optimism about its potential impact and relevance. Miss Landon is the valedictorian of her class and yet chooses to be more socially alienated than Daria or her BFF Jane. Her dialogue and character arc reflected arguably the show's best writing, and we cannot wait to see exactly where we pick up with this formidable duo.
