Editors' Picks: Our Favorite Things From the Week of March 118 of 9
Rom-Com of the Week
We've always had a soft spot for Sharon Stone. Hot off her success in Mosaic comes the release of All I Wish (original title: A Little Something for Your Birthday), a romantic comedy also starring Tony Goldwyn, Ellen Burstyn, and Famke Janssen. It was Stone's interview in Vanity Fair that really caught our attention. In it, she shared that she was originally approached to play the mother of the 25-year-old protagonist. While she loved the story, she felt it didn't resonate with a younger character. So, she pitched herself as the daughter dealing with, among other things, her aging mother (played by Burstyn). By upending the expectations of who's the central character in a romantic comedy, she's also chipping away at the rules for "women of a certain age" in Hollywood. All I Wish opens in U.S. theaters on March 30.
