As The Gooniesmarks its 40th anniversary, the Richard Donner-directed film by writers Chris Columbus and Steven Spielberg is heading to a new streaming home in May. The film, which stars Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Jeff Cohen, Corey Feldman, Kerri Green, Martha Plimpton, andKey Huy Quan, will drop on Max on May 1.

The Goonies follows a group of misfits from The Goondocks who set out on an adventure to find treasure after discovering an ancient map. In April, Warner Bros. confirmed that the film is getting a sequel. Pam Abdy, Chair/CEO of Warner Bros. Pictures said that a Goonies revival, as well as a new Gremlins film, are in development. "We're super excited about Amblin developing with Chris Columbus, new entries in the Gremlins and Goonies franchises," she said.
