‘Bet’ Netflix Review: I Bet This Survival Game Is Going To Take Over Your Life

When I first started watching the Netflix original Bet, I couldn’t wrap my head around what was going on. It all felt so unrealistic, camp, and absurd. But then I realized it reminded me of the live-action Japanese show Alice in Borderland, but in English and set in high school. The strangeness of the English language in such erratic cadence felt almost intolerable at first, but once I got used to it, I realized I thoroughly enjoyed this very anime-style English-language revenge TV show. The 10-part show is set in a boarding school where we don’t see a single teacher the entire time, where high schoolers gamble for a spot on a leaderboard.
