There's no one in the world who loves a good rated R comedy like me, and admittedly, we've been starving for some good ones. One of them days was alright but nothing truly like Friendship. This movie had me laughing my ass off more times than I could count. One of my favorite parts of the movie was the directing style, this movie was shot like a thriller, and it made me laugh even more. And for those worried about if Tim Robinsons comedy could translate into a full size film, do not worry, his performance was spectacular. After watching Death Of A Unicorn I was worried that Paul Rudd lost his comedic touch, but this movie cleared that up for me, he's better than ever. This movie had moments that made me laugh till I couldn't breathe, moments so awkward I had to cover my face, it had it all! (P. S. Jack Dylan Grazer was BRILLIANT and stole every scene he was in)
After watching this movie I'm left with the question, how the hell was this movie not huge? The writing in this movie was insane, and one of the coolest concepts to a movie I've ever seen, with clever commentaries on the world we live in. This was also the directors literal DIRECTORIAL DEBUT. The direction in this movie was absolutely brilliant, and one of the best debuts I've ever seen. And then performances were stellar was well, John Boyega was shockingly good, and I kept having to remind myself that, that's Finn from star wars, but the one who stole the show was Jamie Foxx, good lord what a performance from him. He was so funny, so cool, his entire character was impossible to dislike. I personally believe he deserved at least an oscar nom for best supporting actor, but all in all this film was amazing, and you should definitely watch it.
This movie never ceases to amaze me. Lin-Manuel Miranda's direction is superb in this picture, it's pretty astounding how impactful he is behind the scenes when he didn't even write the music. Speaking of the music, the music in this movie is so amazing, 30/90 has gone platinum in my car, and Therapy has some of the best vibes in a musical song literally ever. But you cannot POSSIBLY talk about this film without talking about the absolute master class of a performance from Andrew Garfield. Garfield exhibits so much lively passion as Johnathan Larson and you can't help but want to watch him succeed. Even without the slap from Will Smith I do believe that Andrew Garfield deserved the oscar. This performance was a career defining moment for Garfield, and I hope he gets another chance to win the oscar that I know he deserves.
