Born to socialite Elizabeth Mary Hester "Bettine" (Moore) and William Taliaferro Close, a doctor who operated a clinic in the Belgian Congo and served as a personal physician to its dictator Mobutu Sese Seko. Both of them stem from upper-class families.
Her half-sister is actress Dina Merrill, herself connected to the upper-class.
I had also read somewhere a long time ago that she was a more distant relative to Princess Diana, but can't find any evidence of it anymore.
One of the reasons why "Fatal Attraction" is such an absurd and awful thriller.
One word: OVERRATED.
His acting technique consists of delivering his lines as quickly as possible while showing zero variation in facial expressions.
And he is a political activist, tirelessly fighting against evils such as elitism and nepotism.
No, wait...
Yet another bland offspring of a much better actor.
The "acting DNA" does not exist.
Unfunny over-actor. Father is a musician, not an actor.
Music DNA becomes acting DNA. If you'll believe it. Watching Cuba overact, I choose not to believe it.
Not a bonafide nepotist, but stems from the British upper-class, has a SIR in his family and went to Eton with Prince William.
Well, that certainly explains it! Or do you actually believe Eddie would have had even a slight shot at fame if he were son of the local butcher?
I am amazed that they try to sell this guy as a "hunk". I feel almost as if his career is a huge, elaborate prank.
The most horrible commercial-formula scripts Hollywood has ever given us, came from her.
She used to look semi-decent, but her acting is forced and unnatural.
And now she's even directing? Please tell me they didn't allow her to plan the first mission to Mars too.
I never liked Ingrid, so you can well imagine how crazy I am about her daughter, who is (even) less talented and less attractive.
Actress Ingrid Bergman and director Roberto Rossellini. With that kind of "pedigree" how could she fail to get into show-biz? "Hollywood Royalty", that's what corrupt journalists call it, trying to justify blatant elitism by using out-dated monarchist logic, a logic which liberals - of all people - should not be promoting or even hinting at. Yet they do: the liberal media preach racial and class equality yet they happily hype every Hollywood kid the studios decide should have a career. Because they are hypocrites, as are most of the show-biz elites that control the entertainment industry.
Just to illustrate how extreme elitism in America is i.e. how far its nepotistic tentacles reach in society, take for example Isabella's twin sister Isotta Rossellini who taught as a professor of Literature at Columbia, NYU, Princeton and Harvard universities.
Or does anybody actually believe she would have taught in such prestigious institutions if she had been Anonymous Rossellini? Of course not.
But hey, Harvard is famous for its liberalism, its activism, promoting EQUAL OPPORTUNITY and socialism , a class-less society. Yet they are just as bad as everyone else.
Elitism is EVERYWHERE, it rules society, don't let them tell you otherwise.
4th generation.
This is one of the most blatant proofs that nepotism has practically NOTHING to do with inherited talent, but is just a corrupt and often totally undeserved shortcut to an undeserved shiw-biz career - at least in most cases.
Daughter of bad actress Mariel Hemingway and Stephen Crisman as well as the niece of the late model and bad actress Margaux Hemingway. Communist author Ernest Hemingway is her great-grandfather. She has a younger sister named Langley Fox who is a model.
They gave her an Oscar just because her grandfather was a Marxist-leaning novelist. Her performance in that movie was nothing short of atrocious.
Woody Allen is an elitist. He constantly helps out his friends by casting their kids - or going by political affiliation.
Why didn't SHE get an Oscar too? She's no worse than her sister Mariel i.e. just as bad and just as unappealing.
Oh right... She wasn't cast in a Woody Allen movie...
Woody has such a bad sense of casting (screwed up often in this department) and absolutely zero aesthetic sense.
Born in L.A., part of a well-connected movie family.
Anyone surprised?
Virtue-signalling "feminist"... yeah, that is such a stretch from nepotism.
Starred in a bad sit-com and then made mediocre, commercial movies.
3rd generation.
Robotic acting completely devoid of nuance or understanding whom she is impersonating.
Hands down one of the nicest guys in show business, people who've met him uniformly agree that he is well-mannered and friendly to everyone.
But... Can he act?
A bit. And that's being generous.
4th generation.
John Drew Barrymore (father), actor
Jaid Barrymore (mother), actress
John-Blythe Barrymore (half-brother), actor
Diana Barrymore (aunt), actress
John Barrymore (grandfather), actor
Dolores Costello (grandmother), actress
Helene Costello, actress
Maurice Costello (great-grandfather), actor
Mae Costello (great-grandmother), actress
Ethel Barrymore (great-aunt), actress
Lionel Barrymore (great-uncle), actor
Sophia Loren (godmother), actress
Anna Strasberg (godmother), actress
Steven Spielberg (godfather), bad director/producer
Overrated director who used left-wing politics to further attract attention and get awards. He is a sly one: knows exactly how the system works and how to exploit it.
Matthew has a cute story about how he was a tennis coach (even a semi-talented aspiring tennis pro) in Hollywood before "accidentally" being discovered.
The story doesn't mention his nepotistic connections, so you decide how accurate it is.
Hollywood studios have been infamous for fabricating their actors' biographies ever since the Golden Age. Anyone as familiar with the history of American cinema as I am will know what I am talking about.
Her mother was a secretary at Dior and former model, who had previously dated Aga Khan IV, while Kensit's father was a close associate of both the Kray Twins and the Richardson Gang, earning himself the nickname "Jimmy the Dip", and was involved in the Great Train Robbery.
Nice, huh?
Gangster / fashion model kid GOTTA have music AND acting genes, right?
Here is how journalists help perpetuate the hype, making nepotism appear normal and natural, a quote from an extremely dumb internet text:
"Elle got the best of both worlds—striking good looks that favor her mother and wild-child performance antics that scream "comedian's kid"... Elle seems to have inherited the confidence and swagger necessary to make it in the entertainment industry. She probably caught the bug early."
1. The "confidence" comes from knowing that you can fail as a nepotist time and time again yet get more chances, whereas a non-nepotist doesn't have that luxury.
2. And she didn't "catch the acting bug". It's an attention-seeker's bug, a greed bug. Everyone wants to be famous these days, and nobody has it easier in that venture than celeb kids.
3. So she inherited her comedic streak from Rob Schneider?
Rather than get the best person for a role - out of thousands of aspiring/available actors - producers simply hire the Chucky serial's main star's daughter; on his own insistence. Which is a kind of blatant abuse of power.
And therein lies the problem: when the casting is done through nepotism, it shows a lack of interest in the filmic end-product. The sole interest is employment for one's kids, spouse or mistress, i.e. money for one's own clan. It is an almost tribal approach.
Sure, the Chucky movie series is moronic, but this sort of thing happens for far more "serious" filmic ventures.
Stems from an upper-upper class background, with various Sirs and Lords. Basically, any kid born into such a family can have a shot at fame. They just need to pick their poison: modeling, movies, art or music. Voila: wish fulfilled! It's that simple.
Sometimes journalism too, because anyone can be a "journalist" nowadays. The less extrovert, narcissist, attention-seeking upper-class kids could pick that instead of show-biz. But entertainment and the arts remains their favourite - because these people are generally speaking brought up in an environment that build their egos to extreme levels since childhood. Hence they feel entitled - and they in fact are.
I'll never forgive her for ruining "Possible World". Would have been a perfect movie with another actress in the role.
Granddaughter of Elvis Presley... who was SUCH a great actor.
He is one of the better nepotists, a very good choice for heavies, and much more charismatic and interesting than his VASTLY overrated try-hard brother Sean.
Please don't tell me what a brilliant actor he is, I can't hear it anymore. Certainly he is better than most on this list, but that's not saying much. He simply has the wrong face for most of the roles he got. Not to mention uncharismatic, especially in his younger days. His brother is much better.
Utterly unlikable face, he looks like a... no, better not.
3rd generation.
Son of Sean Penn.
"Hollywood royalty" - which is what corrupt, obsequious entertainment "journalists" call them.
Forced weirdness acting style. Boring and mediocre.
Son of actor Bruce Glover and actress and dancer Marion Elizabeth Lillian Betty Krachey.
Trust Ridley Scott to cast the wrong actresses in key roles over and over. He's doing this on purpose, right?
That awful Alien prequel was even worse because of this dull actress.
At least I can't accuse her of being worse than her mother Meryl Streep, because that's impossible.
Uncle is Mike Capuano, 10-term Democratic Congressman.
Chris always irritated me with his "bravado" acting style. Kirk Douglas could do that and get away with: Chris can't.
Constance and Joan Bennett are his aunts.
3rd generation.
This means that Robert Downey is a 4th generation nepotist, and certainly the only 4th gen nepotist of any worth, hence why he isn't on the list, though overrated somewhat.
Daughter of Richard Bennett and Adrienne Morrison, actors.
Granddaughter of a wealthy Spanish/English man.
Aunt of Morton Downey Jr whose son is Robert Downey.
"A chance encounter with Samuel Goldwyn" started off her career, says her IMDb bio. A coincidence, huh? Really...
One of her daughters is in movies too, still active, but her career isn't noteworthy hence isn't included on this list. If I included EVERY nepotist regardless of how few roles they had (not counting cameos and uncredited) this list would be twice as long, if not more.
Did Robert Downey give him this name before or after going to prison?
3rd-generation nepotism, yet again.
Nevertheless, the acting career didn't pan out for some reason, he stopped it.
Not funny.
At all.
Except when she goes out into the streets to protest pollution then tells a journalist she refuses to NOT travel first class to help cut down on pollution.
No joke. Some celebs are at their funniest when there is no intention to be funny.
She feels entitled to pollute, but is greatly offended when the "commoners" travel.
We call that hypocrisy and entitlement.
Overactor with good looks but supremely annoying.
Who could he possible have inherited the "acting gene" from? James Brolin is a mediocre actor, bland and boring.
Not a horrible actor, but so uncharismatic that his range of roles is limited to just one type.
One of the many nepotists who are kids of famous magazine publishers or television tycoons.
I knew she was one, the moment I saw her face. At least 90% of them are instantly recognizable. The aura of non-talent surrounds them like a cloud.
There are other Coppolas scattered on this list. Nick Cage and Jason Schwartzman, for example. They are not all huddled in this bunch.
Yet another addition to the huge Coppola clan. One of them makes a few great movies, and instantly they spread all over the industry like a huge octopus.
Son of Jack Schwartzman & Talia Shire.
Younger brother of Jason Schwartzman.
Cousin of Marc Coppola, Christopher Coppola, Nicolas Cage, Sofia Coppola and Roman Coppola.
Nephew of Francis Ford Coppola.
Grandson of composer Carmine Coppola and Italia Coppola.
Half-brother of John Schwartzman, Stephanie Schwartzman, & Matt Shire.
Great-grandson of Francesco Pennino.
That's pretty much half of Hollywood...?
He has become somewhat of a meme of bad overacting, with a plethora of comedians mocking his acting style.
In fact, he either completely overacts or underacts as if he has zero interest in the role. He never seems to get it right.
Admittedly, I consider him a so-bad-he's-good type of actor, so I don't mind his success that much. But he definitely gets WAY too many roles.
It's amazing that Francis Ford Coppola would risk sinking an entire movie by casting his sister. And then later his daughter.
Bland and uninteresting. Easily the worst thing about "Godfather". And "Rocky".
Who'd ever argue that he can't be talented: Nicholas Cage isn't a great actor???
How dare you...
Is currently being heavily hyped by Hollywood's studio system.
Ever wondered why he sticks out like a sore thumb in the otherwise great Trainspotting cast?
Well, now you know. Totally without charisma, bland and uninteresting.
His great-grandfather was a pioneering English film enthusiast who published The Kinematograph Weekly. An industrialist and printing entrepreneur, he established a number of technical and trade journals. A freemason, he was mayor of St Pancras in 1908, and founded the printing and publishing company E. T. Heron and Co Ltd.
He was absolutely horrible in "Dracula Untold", an over-actor.
Chrstopher Stone and Dee Wallace.
Is being currently mega-hyped by the studios.
Spiderman?
Really?
This guy?
Thank God I have zero interest in dumb superhero movies. The way they are cast these days they must be more horrible than even they have any right to be.
Daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke.
3rd generation nepotist from both sides.
OK actor but so bland and uninteresting. And always the same facial expression.
He is a second cousin twice-removed of writer Tennessee Williams on his father's side. Hawke's maternal grandfather, Howard Lemuel Green, served five terms in the Texas Legislature (1957–67), served as the elected Tarrant County Judge in Texas from 1967 to 1975, and was also a minor-league baseball commissioner.
He calls himself a feminist, which implies he is a liberal, almost certainly. But what I'd like to know is how he can promote class equality when he is one of MANY profiteers of class elitism - and he NEVER addresses it i.e. pretends it's not there, pretends his career is purely a result of his "talents" and "hard work".
Nepotism is a form of corruption hence it is immoral (and in certain companies/organizations illegal too), and whoever benefits from it so greatly loses the moral right to "champion" equality or any similar left-wing causes. It's hypocritical to promote "working class opportunity" yet benefit from this kind of elitist behaviour AND help your offspring benefit from it too. This kind of ongoing generational corruption is the polar opposite of "equal opportunity" activism.
I hate to repeat myself but - he's bland.
One of this list's main themes is blandness, so my overuse of this word comes with the territory.
Stellan Skarsgard's greed(?) for expanding the clan's bank accounts is immense, or is it simply that he can't say no the pleading of his kids to be "famous"?
Slightly more charmismatic than Colin Hanks, but that's not saying much.
I saw some scenes from that ridiculous Johnny Cash bio, and honestly thought it was a comedy making fun of the country legend.
A horrible actor in certain movies, such as "Gladiator", prone to overacting, with an overblown reputation only nepotism can give. He does however have a little more charisma than most on this list.
