5 Worst Video Games

by Taclys • Created 7 years ago • Modified 7 years ago
A lot of things can go wrong in a video game, and sometimes, only a couple things go right. This is the list of video games that I found to be terrible, unfun, boring, or just bad. I make it a point to avoid spending money on bad video games, but what are you gonna do? Also, ignoring NES and earlier examples of bad games, because that time period was very restricted and standards for gaming were still being laid out.

  • Reagan-Gorbachev, duel au sommet (2016)

    1. Reagan-Gorbachev, duel au sommet

    2016TV Movie
    7.4 (22)
    DirectorAntoine Dauer
Ok this isn't about whatever documentary IMBd thinks I'm talking about, this is about a very obscure indie shooter called Reagan Gorbachev. I was supplied a review code for this game a while back, and I was not kind. Visually bland and not utilizing it's strange premise, Reagan Gorbachev is a top-down shooter/puzzle where you control either Ronald Reagan or Mikhail Gorbachev to escape a terrorist base. Everything kills you in one hit and upon either death you restart the entire level. Enemy AI is very inconsistent, and weapon types spawn at random. Need to do a stealth level? Restart the level until a silent weapon spawns. Many levels have instant-kill traps that are not telegraphed, the co-op isn't particularly fun, and is overall a very shoddy Hotlime Miami wannabe. You probably haven't heard of it, so keep it that way.

  • Destiny (2014)

    2. Destiny

    2014TVideo Game
    7.7 (5.5K)
Years in the future, a group of space-born humans fight to remove the Earth of alien invaders.
    DirectorJason JonesStarsPeter DinklageBill NighyLauren Cohan
I'm going to try to contain my frothing rage for this game. While Destiny has been patched and added DLC which fixed some of the issues, I played for the launch month and it was flaming garbage. A visually beautiful but mechanically shallow shooter by Halo's developer Bungie, Destiny was an over-hyped mess of disappointment. Repetitive levels, repetitive enemies, and an exceptionally short campaign means that severe grinding is required. Teasing a weapon system like Borderlands or Diablo, Destiny drip-feeds mediocre weapon after mediocre weapon in a terrible encryption system that downgrades your weapons at random. The multiplayer PVP modes were a bit more traditional, and while understandable for balance, equalizing the damage from gun to gun really removes any reason to grind for those crazy exotic weapons. With content on the disc that was clearly partitioned off for DLC, Destiny is not only a disappointing mess, it's a dishonest and greedy beast.

  • Tom Clarke Hill in Sniper Elite 3 (2014)

    3. Sniper Elite 3

    2014MVideo Game
    7.0 (1K)
A Sniper Elite must destroy the Nazi organization and kill the Führer, Hitler.
    StarsTom Clarke HillKlemens KoehringDaniel Alexander
Perhaps I just didn't know what to expect when I picked up Sniper Elite 3. I expected to spend most of my time taking extraordinarily long shots and popping Nazi heads. Maybe I'm still extremely salty at IGN for rating this game above Wolfenstein and that I bought Sniper Elite 3 before Wolfenstein. Either way, Sniper Elite 3 is not the sniper game I would have wanted. Dated graphics, janky mechanics, and unsatisfying shooting leads to a mostly empty game. A worrying amount of time is spent waiting, waiting, waiting. Waiting for an airplane to fly overhead so the sound muffles my shot. Waiting for guards to walk by. It doesn't take long before the short campaign bloats into hours and hours, not of fun, but of bored waiting. The thrill of taking extremely long shots and hitting a distant target exists, but is few and far between. The majority of kills will be performed up close and personal with a knife or a pistol, to position yourself for the occasional sniper shot. The co-op makes the game more fun, if anything to laugh at the multitude of problems this game has.

  • Star Fox (1993)

    4. Star Fox

    1993E10+Video Game
    7.5 (875)
After being banished from planet Corneria, the evil scientist Andross declares war on the entire Lylat System. The commanding officer of Corneria's defence force, summons the elite mercenary team Star Fox to defeat Andross.
    DirectorKatsuya EguchiStarDan Owsen
Star Fox 64 is one of my favorite games, especially from the N64. Star Fox for the SNES? Not so much. Impressive graphics lead to a visually uncomfortable and difficult game, compounded by the D-Pad and not analog joystick that later consoles used. Flying and shooting is very awkward, and while the SNES is producing ground-breaking visuals for the time, those visuals were better utilized in solid polygon models instead of wireframes. I admire Star Fox on SNES for it's achievements, but playing it today is nearly impossible.

  • Mario Party 10 (2015)

    5. Mario Party 10

    2015EVideo Game
    6.0 (442)
Tenth installment in the series in which, like the previous one, all players travel across the board together in a car. Mario Party 10 also introduces two new modes called Bowser Party and Amiibo Party.
DirectorsKenji KikuchiShuichiro NishiyaStarsCharles MartinetSamantha KellyDeanna Mustard
A mess of bad ideas and worse mechanics, Mario Party 10 tarnishes the proud legacy of Mario Party games. Not nearly enough time will be spent on the mini-games that Mario Party is built on, and worrying number of those mini-games aren't fun or are unfair. Adding asymmetrical Bowser vs Mario mini-games is a clever idea, but balancing any of them is nearly impossible. The shocking lack of any online modes for a 2015 game hurt it severely, and combined with the usual unfairness and chaos that Mario Party brings, Mario Party 10 isn't worth the time.
