Betty intercepts instructions for General Ross warning about a possible Hulk sighting in Northern California. Betty decides to go there in an attempt to find the Hulk first. Unfortunately it is really the Wendigo a cursed Native American man forced to walk the world until he finds humility. The Hulk has a run in with the Wendigo, but is helped by a Jefferson Whitedeer. The Wendigo hunts Betty, but when Hulk attempts to save her General Ross arrives and after a scuffle ends up handcuffed to the Hulk. Hulk hears Betty's screams and goes off with Ross to save her. Ross and Hulk work together to track the Wendigo. Hulk fights Wendigo until the two of them fall off a cliff and Wendigo's spirit is released. General Ross reveals he will not give up the hunt for Hulk.

Bruce Banner goes to Washington, D.C., and visits his cousin Jennifer Walters. The two of them are attacked by robots sent by Dr. Doom. The robots kidnap an injured Jennifer and Doom threatens to kill her if the Hulk does not obey him. The Hulk turns back into Banner when Jennifer's condition worsens. Banner gives her a blood transfusion before Doom uses technology to transform him back into the Hulk. On Doom's instruction, the Hulk goes on a rampage against the U.S. military. Meanwhile, Banners blood turns Jennifer into the She-Hulk. She attacks Doom and frees the Hulk before he destroys the capital. Hulk and She-Hulk work together to defeat Dr. Doom. Meanwhile, the Leader dismisses Gargoyle who steals some of his data before he departs.

Bruce Banner has developed a powerful Gama Bomb, but just as it is about to be tested, a teenager named Rick Jones carelessly drives onto the testing ground. Banner manages to save Rick, but is bombarded by Gama rays himself thanks to a traitorous assistant. Although Banner survives the radiation, his body transforms into a giant green hulk as soon as he becomes angry.

With the Hulk apparently rampaging wild, the Red Hulk comes to the Avengers to request to join.

SHIELD is apparently attacked by the Hulk, but Banner is accounted for elsewhere at the same time while this Hulk is red in color.

Bruce Banner goes to California and attempts to contact Tony Stark. He is suffering from amnesia and attack Rick and Iron Man when they show up to help. Hulk regains his senses transforms to Bruce Banner. After a conversation with Jim Rhodes, Gabriel Jones and General Ross realize were Banner is hiding and send Hulkbusters to get him. Stark tries to help Banner purge the Hulk, but the Hulkbusters interfere despite the efforts of War Machine. Due to the interference, Banner transforms and Stark has to put on his special anti-Hulk armor. With Rick's help, the Hulk escapes.

Iron Man and Dr. Bruce Banner work together to recover one of the Mandarin's rings. Before they can do so, the Leader steals the ring because he believes that he can use it to undo the accident that created the Hulk.

Dr. Doom manipulates the unstoppable Hulk into fighting the Fantastic Four. Only the Thing's girlfriend Alicia can help.

The selfish Dr. Proto drains power from his colleague Bruce Banner's experiments to create a new life form. The organism, a yellow slime, soon begins to grow and proves to be unstoppable, possible even for the Hulk.

Hulk begrudgingly teams up with The Thing to take the fight to the Leader's doorstep when his arch nemesis puts the lives of the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. on the line.
