Robin and Starfire are the main couple of "Teen Titans". Robin is the leader of the Teen Titans and Batman's former sidekick and Starfire is an alien princess from the planet, Tamaran.
Robin and Starfire first met when Starfire crashed landed on Earth after escaping from her Gordanian captors while at the same time, Robin had recently left Batman and moved to Jump City to become a solo hero. Robin and Starfire got off to a rocky start when they initially fought each other when Starfire began to destroy everything in her path until Robin realized she was only trying to remove her restraints. Robin calmly approached Starfire to help her remove them and afterwards, Starfire suddenly kissed Robin in order to learn and speak English. Robin began working together with Cyborg, Beast Boy and Raven to protect Starfire and the Earth from the Gordanians when they invaded. During this time, Robin and Starfire had a tense relationship and argued, blaming the other until they both apologized and soon their relationship quickly began to improve and soon their feelings began to change into something more. Following the Gordanians defeat, the Teen Titans were formed.
Since then, Robin and Starfire have been best friends, but also ever since the day they first met, they have both secretly harbored strong romantic feelings for each other, but are too scared to confess how they really feel. Despite the fact they keep their feelings hidden, everyone including, friends, teammates, allies and even a few enemies are fully well aware of their true feelings for each other and on rare occasions, will often tease the pair about their relationship. Robin and Starfire share the closest and strongest relationship out of all the Teen Titans, often serving as each other's partners in battle as well as confidants. Robin supports Starfire as she continues to adjust to life on Earth and helps her to understand the planet's customs while Starfire is always there for Robin, comforting him whenever he doubts or is too hard on himself. Robin and Starfire also care a great deal for each other's safety and are always the first to save the other whenever either of them are in danger and refuse to fight the other if forced.
Throughout the series, Robin and Starfire's relationship continues to grow significantly at various key points and their relationship also serves as one of the show's main storylines with every season having a single episode that solely focuses on their growing romantic relationship. Although they keep their true feelings hidden, Robin and Starfire become extremely jealous when others express a romantic interest in them, especially shown through Kitten and Blackfire, who both expressed an interest in Robin much to Starfire's jealousy or when Starfire was almost forced to marry an ugly alien creature, much to Robin's anger. Robin and Starfire's love grows stronger as they overcome these obstacles, but they both remain unable to admit how they really feel, despite their romance becoming more obvious to everyone around them. By the time the series was nearing its end, Robin and Starfire continued to hold a strong and stable relationship with their feelings for each other stronger than ever, but still had yet to act or express them.
Eventually in the series finale movie, "Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo", Robin and Starfire's romance finally gained closure when the Teen Titans traveled to Tokyo to locate a mysterious villain called Brushogun after an attack on Titans Tower. Shortly after arriving in Tokyo, the Titans had difficulty due to the language barrier and in order to help, Starfire acquired the ability to speak fluent Japanese by kissing a random stranger, much to everyone's shock, especially Robin who becomes jealous, upset and dejected over the kiss and the reason behind it. When the Titans later split up to enjoy Tokyo after calling off the search for Brushogun, Robin and Starfire go off to explore Tokyo together and slowly yet surely, Robin begins to loosen up and enjoy himself, especially after seeing how happy Starfire is.
Robin and Starfire later go to Tokyo Tower and during this time, they begin to discuss the kiss they shared when they first met, where Starfire explains on Tamaran kissing is merely a way to help learn and speak a language, but has come to understand it's more meaningful on Earth. Robin and Starfire finally begin to reveal and express their true feelings for each other and prepare to share their first official kiss until Robin starts to focus on Brushogun again. Robin declares to Starfire they can't be anything more than heroes and denies there is nothing more between them, leaving Starfire heartbroken and flies away in tears.
Starfire is later comforted by a young girl, who helps Starfire to overcome her depression and causes her to realize there has always been something more between her and Robin and despite his earlier objection, Robin is simply afraid to admit how he feels. With this newfound determination, Starfire prepares to go off to find Robin, only to learn about his arrest and sets out to reunite with the rest of the Titans to help clear his name, only to come under attack by more of Brushogun's minions. Starfire and Robin eventually reunite with each other when Starfire saves Robin from being captured by Commander Daizo and the Tokyo Troopers and retreat to a safe house. Robin and Starfire share a private moment and attempt to kiss again, but are interrupted by the arrival of the rest of the Titans.
Eventually, following the end of the epic final battle, Robin finally confesses his love for Starfire, apologizing for before and understands now there is more to life than being a hero. With their feelings finally revealed and no longer needing any further explanation, Starfire cuts off Robin's confession and they at long last finally share their first real official kiss in the rain as the rest of the Teen Titans watch from a distance, happy they are finally together after all this time. By the end of the movie, Robin and Starfire at long last finally become an official couple and are seen holding hands at the award ceremony, revealing their newly formed romantic relationship to the public.
