Inuyasha and Kagome are the main couple of "Inuyasha". When Inuyasha and Kagome first met, they originally did not get along well with each other since Kagome greatly reminded Inuyasha of his former love, Kikyo due to their strong physical similarities. When the Shikon Jewel was shattered and it’s pieces scattered throughout all of Feudal Japan, Inuyasha and Kagome must work together in order to retrieve them before they fall into the wrong hands. During their time together, Inuyasha and Kagome soon begin to grow closer towards each other and it isn’t long until they realize they have fallen in love. However, Inuyasha and Kagome find themselves involved in a love triangle with the revived Kikyo. Inuyasha realizes that although he is in love with Kagome, he also comes to acknowledge he is still in love with Kikyo and thus cannot choose between them.

Although Inuyasha and Kagome aren’t officially a couple, they are still considered romantically together as many people observe and question their relationship as well as the love triangle. Aside from Kikyo, Inuyasha and Kagome face many other love rivals and while they still tend to fight and bicker, their love for each other remains and deepens throughout the course of the series. Eventually, in "Inuyasha: The Final Act", after Kikyo dies for the final time, Inuyasha finally moves on and realizes that Kagome is and always has been his one and only true love. However, following the defeat of Naraku, Inuyasha and Kagome are separated for 3 years until they are finally reunited and get married by the end of the series.
