The one responsible for the whole craze! This is the best horror film from "Hammer." Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee appear together properly for the first time.
A film that's nearly as good as the above. Peter Cushing is still THE Van Helsing.
Slightly slow in places but the film is both imaginative and atmospheric.
A highly memorable film, putting "Hammer" on the map.
Far too artificial-looking and this weakens the film considerably. Andrew Keir is outstanding as Professor Quatermass, the best one of the lot.
I enjoyed this follow-up, well paced and a great performance from Peter Cushing.
The uncensored version is a slight improvement but the plot is weak until the last 20 minutes.
Quite original and made at a time when the British film industry in general was in sharp decline. A rather troubled production throughout.
Pretty good but not enough Christopher Lee. The supporting cast are superb.
Some good bits but inferior to "Plague of the Zombies."
An interesting experiment.
Cushing and Lee carry this one between them but Richard Pasco is also good.
Some miscasting and with a leaden pace. Some highlights along the way.
On my top 10 "Hammer" horrors. Peter Cushing is brilliant as the Baker Street sleuth.
A pale imitation of the 1925 masterpiece.
Simply pitiful! A good thing Peter Cushing didn't bother with this one.
A big return to the former glory days!
A poor final film from Terence Fisher.
The story is leaden, the action is good.
This goes beyond the scrapping the bottom of the barrel. Appalling!
Rupert Davies takes the acting honours.
Bland, uneventful and poorly directed.
The success of this film might have led to further co-productions. A case of what might have been.
A marvellous film. The script is well above average and the casting is ideal.
The combination of vampires and Kung Fu is a surprisingly effective one.
Not too bad, has a certain level of intrigue but the plot can be difficult to follow.
A basic story is sometimes better. Cushing and Morell are excellent.
Too talky and not enough action. Peter Cushing is the best cast member.
A bloody nightmare to watch! So contrived after the opening 20 minutes.
Wisely, the yeti isn't shown too often. Although billed second, this is Peter Cushing's film all the way.
Rather lacking something but some scenes work. Bette Davis is creepy in the title role!
Nothing very creative but the small cast make the film work.
