In my opinion, Fritz Lang is one of the top five European film directors of all time. His movies are ones of vision and imagination. He made his name whilst making films in Germany, including masterpieces "Dr. Mabuse the Gambler," "Metropolis," "Spiones," and "M." Following the rise of the Third Reich, Lang immediately fled the country and settled in America. Here, the director would produce further classic movies, which were enhanced by his distinctive European style of filmmaking. Like a number of others in his field, Fritz Lang had a reputation for being a rather difficult man to work for.
