For several reasons Alec Trevelyan is my favorite Bond Villain. First off, being an ex-00 agent he is truly Bond's equal. A threat to Bond both mentally and physically. His relationship/dynamic with Bond was also unconventional in comparison to the other villains. Them being old friends, with them being close enough that Alec actually considered asking Bond to join him in his scheme. I also found his backstory to be intriguing. Though he does have some greedy intentions (as almost every Bond villain does) he has understandable motivations for wanting revenge against MI6. Because of their betraying his parents, which started a chain reaction that led to their deaths.
One of the best villains, but from one of the weakest Bond films. Which is quite a shame considering how great Christopher Lee's performance and Scaramanga as a character are. Who will disagree with the fact that Christopher Lee is probably the greatest villain actor ever. He's got the right presence and voice. And has firmly placed himself in film history as several villains inlcuding Count Dracula from the Hammer Dracula films, Count de Rochefort from the Richard Lester THREE MUSKETEERS films, Saruman from Peter Jackson's LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, and Count Dooku from the STAR WARS Prequel Trilogy among others.
