  • Tamer Riad

    253. Tamer Riad

    • Actor
    Killing the Badge (1999)
At the age of 5 while he was living in Cardiff, Wales, Tamer was asked to play the role of the King in his school play, Snow White an adaptation of the cartoon movie. Though he gave an outstanding performance, after saying his lines "we shall call her snow white" he was so nervous that he ran off the stage and it was an embarrassing moment for him though everyone took it as a moment of comedy. At the age of 7 he was back in the theatre in a more serious role in the famous production based on the Shakespeare play "Merchant Of Venice", though he very much wanted the role of Antonio he was asked to play the role of Shylock due to his typecasting even at such a young age. Despite his family's disapproval of the role due to cultural and religious conflicts, he never looked at it as anything more than a role in a play. That role is what earned him an award in the talent category at his school, as well as his first recognition as a talent artist in the field of drama and acting.

In 1985 he was living in Queens, New York while he attended Russell Sage Jr. High, he participated in the off Broadway play Sing as a dancer for the role of an insurance salesman, and again in 1986 in Forest Hills High School for the same production, this time as a Greasy Guy. However he never did care for the lighter side of theatre but more of the serious dramatic side. That same year he was asked to audition for the role of The Foreman in 12 Angry Men, though he didn't get the part he fell in love with the play itself and didn't really care but settled for the part of the Juror #12 and again he gave an outstanding performance.

In 1987 that following year he was asked to participate in a play that was very important to him due to his distant relationship with his father, it was the role of Biff Loman (Willie's Son) in the play Death Of A Salesman he insisted on playing Willie Loman and finally got the part. Though he began the play in New York, his family picked up and moved to Texas later that same year where he was happy to learn that he was asked to audition for the same play in 1988 and finally gave it his all.

His Last year in school he took part again and for the last time in a Gothics variation of the off-Broadway play Sing (1990) where he played a dancer again but this time he was cast as the role of a Monk another controversial role in his many plays. In 1991 he caught the attention of a casting director at a hotel was asked to play a part in his very first move The Trust based on the true story of William Marsh Rice the founder of Rice University. During which time he was approached by a local talent agent ironically for modeling jobs but of course as well as for roles in films. Without hesitation he signed on with his very first talent agency and began his acting and modeling career at the age of 20. He was still attending college meanwhile and changed his major from business drama. After so many productions he continued to work on his own after his contract was up and when he was in between talent agents.

In 1997 he again caught the attention of yet another casting director but this time it was from Playboy and was asked to portray a high class business man in one of their special edition issues. The very next year he was hand picked for the cover of a local magazine by the owner. There he realized his real sense of humor and decided to try for the Laff Stop a comedy club that said to him that he should go pro. in his career. Something he will pursue in the future.
    Died in Los Angeles, California.

  • Emilio Delgado

    257. Emilio Delgado

    • Actor
    • Soundtrack
    Sesame Street (1971–2022)
Emilio Delgado was an actor and singer, best known for his 44 years in the role of "Luis" on Sesame Street (produced from 1971 to 2015) that aired from 1972 to 2016. He was born in Calexico, California and spent part of his childhood living across the border in Mexicali, Mexico in a large extended family.

He started working at an early age in Mexicali shining shoes and working in his uncle's bicycle repair shop. As a U.S. citizen, he crossed the border daily into the United States to attend elementary school in Calexico, California, where he first began performing in school plays and musicals. He graduated from Glendale High School in Los Angeles, where his interest and passion for theater and music increased. After graduation he received a scholarship to study acting in Hollywood with Russian actress Eugenie Leontovich. He continued his theater studies at Glendale College and CalArts (California Institute of the Arts) while also performing as a folk singer, guitarist and singing traditional Spanish boleros with Mexican trios.

In 1968 Emilio began working as a professional actor in the Emmy Award winning PBS series Canción de la Raza (Song of The People) KCET-LA. In 1971, the producers of Sesame Street expanded their cast to include Latinos and cast Emilio as Luis. Landing the role of "Luis" was very meaningful to Emilio because it offered a positive portrayal of a Mexican American on television. He can claim the longest running part for a Mexican American actor in a continuing television series for his 44 years on Sesame Street.

In addition to Sesame Street, Emilio was cast by Joe Papp in 1972 to understudy Raul Julia in Two Gentlemen of Verona at the St. James Theatre on Broadway. Emilio starred in the lead role of Quixote Nuevo in four cities: CalShakes Berkeley, Hartford Stage, Huntington Theatre Boston & The Alley Theatre in Houston from June 13, 2018 to February 9, 2020; written by award winning playwright, Octavio Solis. Quixote Nuevo is a contemporary adaptation of the Cervantes classic, first premiering in 2018 at California Shakespeare Theater in Berkeley. Other theater credits include Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, INTAR Theatre, Round House Theatre in Bethesda, MD, Manhattan Theatre Source and King Claudius in the Asolo Repertory Theatre production of Hamlet: Prince of Cuba.

He appeared in several television classics and was a recurring cast member on the Lou Grant Show and appeared in Hawaii 5-0, Quincy, Police Story and co-starred in I Will Fight No More Forever. More recent television and film appearances include The Get Down, House of Cards, A Case of You, Law & Order, Criminal Intent, Law & Order: SVU, The Michael J. Fox Show and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and many other television and film appearances. In voice over work, you can hear his voice in The Bravest Knight, Red Dead Redemption II and Audible.

Emilio enjoyed the pleasure of being an occasional guest singer with the world popular band Pink Martini at venues such as Carnegie Hall, The Hollywood Bowl and made other guest appearances with the band in Portland, Seattle, and Montreal. He recorded 'Sing', a duet with China Forbes on the Pink Martini album Splendor in the Grass.

Awards he has received include, The Impact Award 2000 from the National Hispanic Media Coalition, The HOLA Ilka Award in 2005 and in 2009 he and the cast of Sesame Street were present to receive the Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award for Sesame Street's 40 years on the air. October 15, 2019 he was honored by New York's Mayor Bill de Blasio proclaiming October 15, 2019 as Emilio Delgado Day in New York City, taking place at Gracie Mansion in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.

He has contributed his time to organizations such as the United Farm Workers, Head Start, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, The 52nd Street Project, Project Sunshine, Mount Sinai Children's Hospital NYC and Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice in Princeton, NJ.

    • Scott Hall

      271. Scott Hall

      • Actor
      WCW Thunder (1998–2000)
Scott Hall was born into a military family on October 20, 1958. Due to the army life he grew up a traveler and spent his high school years at the All American High in Munich, Germany. When his family returned to the States he attended St Mary's College in Maryland, where he graduated with a degree in Pre Med, with hopes to become a children's doctor. By this time Scott was already training to be a wrestler. He made his ring debut in South Carolina in 1984, and was picked up by the now defunct AWA soon after.

Almost a decade later without hitting major success in the wrestling world, Scott signed with the WWF in 1992. Taking a character he had used previously in WCW, Scott expanded the Diamond Studd and turned him into a Cuban gangster, basing "The Bad Guy" Razor Ramon on the gangster movies he'd watched as a child.

After 3 successful years as Razor, and some great matches, including the Ladder Match against the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania 10 (since voted the best Wrestlemania match of all time), Scott signed with WCW, where he had some of the most controversial years of his career. His May 1996 appearance on the Turner Broadcasting Monday Nitro program breathed life into a dying wrestling market when he instigated the New World Order. After winning several tag team golds with his best friend Kevin Nash, and a couple of singles US championships, Scott received an injury to his neck during a match with Jeff Jarrett in February 2000, which kept him off TV. Scott was fired from WCW in October of 2000, allegedly due to drunken behavior on a German tour prior to his injury.

In March 2001, Scott began to tour with New Japan. He did so well that New Japan invited him back several times throughout 2001. He also did a couple of independent shows around Florida and Alabama. In January 2002, Scott signed a two year deal with the WWF to bring back the New World Order with Kevin Nash and Hollywood Hulk Hogan. They made their first appearance in February. Scott faced Stone Cold Steve Austin at Wrestlemania X-8 in March, taking the loss. Granted custody of his two children and with a part time wrestling career, Hall finally found the balance he needed to go out a star.
