December Picks: The Movies and TV You Can't Miss11 of 19
Avatar: The Way of Water | Movie Premieres in Theaters on Friday, Dec. 16
Plot: Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) lives with his newfound family formed on the planet of Pandora. Once a familiar threat returns to finish what was previously started, Jake must work with Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) and the army of the Na'vi race to protect their planet.
Our Take: No offense to all the great films that used 3D in the past 13 years, but James Cameron's long-long-awaited sequel may be the first theatrical release since 2009’s Avatar that you actually need to see in 3D. At 3 hours and 10 minutes, you’ll get your money’s worth, although Cameron has said the extended length was needed to focus on "relationship and emotion." The sequel was filmed back-to-back with Avatar 3, with a potential for more sequels, based on how the initial trilogy connects with audiences. — James
