Richard Gere refused to do nude scenes in 'Pretty Woman'.The movie's costume supervisor Dan Lester has revealed that the star didn't want his millionaire businessman Edward Lewis to bare all in a bathtub scene with prostitute Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts) in the hit 1990 flick.Lester told the Metro newspaper: "Julia's character was always fully developed but Richard's really wasn't. So he had a lot of input in changing things."I remember there was a bathtub scene and it started out with just Richard in the bath and they wanted him to be nude."And he's like, 'I'm not doing that'. He's like, 'This in this movie is not about that. I'm not going to do it. I'm going to be covered, whether it's bubbles or, you know, or the scene's going to take place outside. I'm not going to be naked in the bath'."And he got his way.

What makes a great plot twist? Perhaps the most important part of this plot device is the twist's ability to shock or surprise the viewer. On a narrative level, a plot twist often changes your perspective on the entire movie, particularly when it comes at the end. Many of the best plot twists pull the rug out from under you, re-contextualizing earlier events in the film and upending your understanding of what really happened.
Unsurprisingly, many of the most famous plot twists come from horror movies. But plot twists can resonate in myriad ways. Sometimes, they're gut punches, making what you've just watched more devastating. Other plot twists are mind-benders, prompting the viewer to try and put these new puzzle pieces together. Others are straight-up horrifying, revealing to the audience that the truth is even more upsetting than they previously thought.
Whatever context they emerge in, plot twists are one...

A show that focuses on the fairly conventional premise of a group of kids, a stern mom, and a bumbling dad doesn't necessarily have what it takes to become a smash hit. However, the stars certainly aligned for "Malcolm in the Middle." The show premiered in 2000 and ran for a solid seven seasons before concluding in May 2006. If you've never seen the show and only know the basic premise, it's easy to assume that the series simply rode the coattails of the 1990s sitcom high to success ... but as anyone familiar with the series can attest, you don't make it to season 7 without being a pretty watchable sitcom, which "Malcolm in the Middle" certainly was.
One of the show's secrets is casting. The pre-Walter White Bryan Cranston was so convincingly hilarious as the slapstick-happy father Hal that he nearly lost "Breaking Bad" over a certain "Malcolm in the Middle" scene.

Leadership changes in the fashion industry are far from new, but this week’s developments promise to impact Hollywood red carpets in a substantive way — perhaps even starting with the May 5 Met Gala. You have to wonder whether stars placed panicked calls to stylists on Thursday, when Donatella Versace announced she was stepping back from design duties to become the house’s brand ambassador, with former Miu Miu designer Dario Vitale taking over as creative director. (Fold in the fact that, minutes following Donatella’s announcement, the news broke that Demna is departing Balenciaga to become Gucci’s creative director, and it’s enough to make any star’s stylist break into a cold sweat.)
“Championing the next generation of designers has always been important to me,” Donatella said in a statement released Thursday. “It has been the greatest honor of my life to carry on my brother Gianni’s legacy.

Are there rules that must be followed at the Oscars? (Photo Credit – theacademy/Instagram)
Walking into the Oscars, one might assume that Hollywood’s most powerful and glamorous figures can do whatever they please.
After all, watching Kanye West and Bianca Censori’s antics at the Grammys, it’s easy to believe celebrities operate on a completely different set of rules. But, the truth is, even the biggest names, whether it’s Adrien Brody or Cynthia Erivo, have to follow strict guidelines, or they could find themselves in serious trouble.
The All-Important Wristbands
If a celebrity wants to step inside, they need a wristband. It doesn’t matter if their face is plastered on the posters outside, if one has no wristband, they wouldn’t be allowed entry. Sure, someone like Demi Moore could probably charm her way in, but technically, even the biggest stars are expected to follow this rule.

The night has set for Hollywood’s biggest event. Several Hollywood actors, directors, and artists have walked the red carpet to celebrate the best in the film industry. However, one notable figure is definitely absent from this year’s event: Will Smith, the actor whose infamous moment at the 2022 Oscars made history for all the wrong reasons.

To quote David Lynch's adaptation of "Dune": "A beginning is a very delicate time." There's no better way to sum up how a career in the arts can be made (or foiled) by someone landing the right project at the right time. It is indeed a very delicate process, and not just because it can hang upon all sorts of factors as to why or why not someone lands a gig. It also has to do with the impact of the end result. For instance, what if Kurt Russell had gotten cast in "Star Wars" instead of Harrison Ford? Would Han Solo still be as beloved and iconic? Would the film have been just as successful, or more so, or even less so?
All these factors go into the "what if?" thought exercise when it comes to the arts, and while the outcome is something we'll never know for sure,...

It’s no secret that politics is a game, but Power really takes things “there” and turns it into a full-contact sport. This isn't your average story about politicians, it delves further, looking at the people who make them, break them, and spin their flaws into votes. At the forefront of this narrative is Richard Gere who plays Pete St. John. He’s a silver-tongued campaign consultant who knows exactly how to sell a candidate. He ends up proving that when you spend your days playing puppet master for coin, the game can get murky real fast. With the late Gene Hackman, who passed away on February 26, as Wilfred Buckley and Denzel Washington’s Arnold Billing in the mix, things get messy in the best way possible.

In the mid-’90s, Kim Basinger was newly married to actor Alec Baldwin and had just given birth to their daughter, Ireland, when her William Morris agent sent her the script for “L.A. Confidential.” She was tired of playing the siren roles that had defined her — from a Bond girl in “Never Say Never Again” to a New York gallery owner in the erotic classic “9½ Weeks” to a barefoot Vicki Vale running through the streets of Gotham City in Tim Burton’s 1989 “Batman.”
“I said, ‘Well, I’m not interested in playing a whore. Not doing it. I’m a mom, so I’m not going to play that,’” she recalls.
But her agent persisted, and she agreed to take a 3 p.m. meeting with the late director Curtis Hanson at the Formosa in West Hollywood. The lot was empty, and she drove around mulling the parking spaces...

Many actors have a sliding doors moment in their career when they pass up a choice role in a soon-to-be iconic movie. For some, it isn't a huge deal. Denzel Washington, for example, already had two Oscar nominations and one win under his belt by the time he decided he didn't want to star in David Fincher's "Se7en." Sure, he later came to regret turning away one of the defining films of the '90s, but he was already an established star and would be just fine without it. That isn't always the case when an actor hasn't quite built up the body of work to go around rejecting great parts –- just take Henry Winkler and Danny Zuko in "Grease."
Winkler was virtual unknown when he won the chance to play Fonzie on "Happy Days." Arthur "The Fonz" Fonzarelli started out as a minor supporting character but quickly...

Season 2 of HBO’s The Last of Us comes out on April 13, 2025. Season 2 will follow the game so we can expect to be introduced to Abby Anderson and her story. With Kaitlyn Dever taking on the role, the series has the opportunity to expand on one key aspect of her backstory that was cut from Naughty Dog’s second game.
The first season was a big success we’re hyped for Season 2. | Image Credit: HBO
According to Laura Bailey, who voiced Abby in the game, there was a deleted flashback revealing Abby’s history with Wlf leader Isaac Dixon. The scene would’ve given us more context into their relationship and explained why he was so forgiving of her betrayal. Let’s hope it makes it to Season 2.
Abby’s story will be a big part of The Last of Us Season 2 And this cut content would add a lot of weight to it.

It’s enough to make any actor green with envy. From sharing stolen glances with Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire to going toe-to-toe with Richard Gere in Chicago, Zellweger has proven she can hold her own against the best. And let’s not forget her iconic turn as Bridget Jones, where she charmed audiences worldwide and cemented her status as a rom-com queen. The Fantastic Four: First Steps hopes to help the franchise climb to new heights after previous installments featuring Marvel's first family yielded mixed results at best. One star of the last Fantastic Four film hopes First Steps won't be a "bomb" like his widely derided 2015 effort.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter (via X), FANT4STIC star Miles Teller shared his thoughts on First Steps and what he expects to see from the superhero blockbuster. Teller, who portrayed Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic in the Josh Trank-helmed 2015 Fantastic Four reboot, has nothing but good things to say about First Steps after watching its recent teaser trailer and hopes it has much more success than his movie. “I don’t wish anybody to be a part of a bomb … I just wish them the best," Teller said. "I saw the little trailer and I thought it looked fantastic, I’m very excited for them.

Right now, Apple TV+ has some of the best original series in the streaming space, and one of its most recent hits is the thriller series Prime Target. In the series, The White Lotus and One Day breakout Leo Woodall stars as a math genius who finds himself at the center of a dangerous global conspiracy when his research on prime numbers puts a target on his back.
While the show hasn't attained the overwhelming watercooler status of its streamer mate Severance, Prime Target has ranked just below the twisty sci-fi thinker on Apple TV+'s most popular shows leaderboard. It's received mixed reception for its slower pace, but Prime Target has still been one of the more engaging and interesting new series of 2025 so far.
If you're enjoying the series, which nears its season-ending episode in March 2025, you're probably wanting to add more shows just like it to your watch list.

At the Goya Awards in Spain, Richard Gere was given a lifetime achievement award. While accepting the award, he took a moment to criticize President Donald Trump, calling him a “bully and a thug.”
Gere shared his concerns about the state of the world, saying that people are becoming more divided and that many leaders, including Trump, are not inspiring the way they should. His comments were met with loud applause from the audience.
[I see] this very foolish tribalism is starting to take over, where we think we’re all separate from each other. We have, unfortunately, elected officials that don’t inspire us in the way we want to be inspired. We are in a very dark place in America where we have a bully and a thug who is the president of the United States.
Gere added that the problems he’s noticed in the U.S. are happening everywhere.

We have, unfortunately, elected officials that don’t inspire us in the way we want to be inspired,” he said. “We are in a very dark place in America where we have a bully and a thug who is the president of the United States,” he continued, pausing to allow the majority of the crowd to applaud loudly.

Hollywood is full of wild rumors, but this one might just make you rethink your celeb crush. Turns out, one of the industry’s most gorgeous leading ladies allegedly isn’t a big fan of showers. Yep, while most A-listers are out here dropping insane amounts on skincare and spa treatments, Julia Roberts is apparently keeping it natural, like, really natural.

Whether it’s an eco-conscious move or just straight-up questionable hygiene, fans aren’t sure what to think.

America’s sweetheart, Julia Roberts, might not be as sweet-smelling as we thought. The Pretty Woman star once revealed to Oprah in 2008, she doesn’t use deodorant. Surprising, eh? This from the woman who captivated hearts (and Richard Gere) in the ’90s hit.

Is Will Ferrell too sexy for his cowbell? Too sexy for his elf costume? Too sexy for his streaking? He doesn’t think so! When it was announced that John Krasinski had been named People’s Sexiest Man Alive, we all kind of either thought, “Oh, yeah, sure,” or, “That’s still a thing?!” But Will Ferrell was a little more miffed — at least jokingly so — that he was never even considered.
As he revealed on Today (via People themselves), Will Ferrell said his campaign on that show led to zero support, adding that he doesn’t “get” the sex appeal of John Krasinski. But he’s going to work the same butt we saw in Old School off so he can at least have a decent shot this year. “I think I may need to do a preemptive photoshoot…pay for some billboards around LA and New York. Fighting back tears and fresh from receiving the first of two standing ovations, Jennifer Lopez told a Sundance Film Festival audience on Sunday night that starring in Bill Condon’s movie musical Kiss of the Spider Woman made a lifelong dream come true. But it wasn’t for lack of trying.
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet ahead of the world premiere at Park City’s Eccles Center Theatre, the superstar entertainer revealed that she had auditioned for some of Hollywood’s best known modern movie musicals, only to get passed over.
“I remember auditioning for Evita, I remember auditioning for Chicago and for Nine — getting very close on Nine,” said Lopez, outfitted for the premiere in a very method ensemble, a glittering spiderweb gown by designer Valdrin Sahiti. “There was a lot of things that I had always hoped that I could do and just wasn’t the right time.

Subhash K Jha revisits Nikhil Advani’s Salaam-e-Ishq, which was released 18 years ago!
To be able to direct a film starring, hold your breath, Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Vidya Balan, John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Akshaye Khanna, Govinda, etc etc for a sophomore director must have seemed like an ache-walk.
Recalls Nikhil, “It was a cakewalk. Every actor went out of the way to accommodate my film. Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra were there for me, and they were not only in their segment. Govinda was like a dream. He was on the sets on the dot and embarrassingly apologetic if he was a few minutes late.”
In fact, initially, the second-time director – who made his debut with Kal Ho Naa Ho – was petrified about how to handle the vast cast. “No actor gave me any grief. To watch these actors before the camera was an amazing experience. I...

There are a lot of movies considered to be classics that simply can’t be presented in the same way today. While it might not be number one on the list, no one would be surprised if Garry Marshall’s 1990 rom-com, Pretty Woman, would be up there in the Top 10. Starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, the film is a little bit (maybe a lotta bit) out of touch with the world 35 years in the future, but it’s still a classic that deserves to get a few views during the most romantic month of all. Right now, audiences in the mood for a little not-so-politically correct romance can head over to Max where Pretty Woman is streaming and celebrate Valentine’s Day with an iconic duo.

[This article contains major spoilers from the season finale of The Agency, “Overtaken by Events.”]
The season one finale of The Agency ends with Michael Fassbender’s Martian in nearly the same emotional space as he was when the show began: longing to be reunited with Dr. Samia Zahir (Jodie Turner-Smith), the Sudanese anthropology professor he fell in love with while stationed as a CIA operative in Ethiopia.
However, their inability to be together is no longer just a matter of distance and duty to one’s country, as it once was when Martian ended their relationship upon returning to his post in London to resume life under the cover of Paul Lewis. It’s now one of life and death, as Martian’s failed attempt to recruit Samia to the CIA has not only put her life in danger but also his own when he agrees to become a double agent for the U.K.’s Secret Intelligence Service...

When people discuss the best movie performers of all time, there are a select few names that are typically thrown out for the Mount Rushmore of actors. For the Academy Award-loving crowd, the easiest answers are Meryl Streep, Daniel Day-Lewis, Denzel Washington, Marlon Brando, and Katherine and Audrey Hepburn, among others. The blockbuster lovers of the world will throw out equally valid names like Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Sigourney Weaver, and Harrison Ford. While these names are the ones most commonly thrown out by the general populace, genre movie lovers have their own subset of legends that they look up to and admire.

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “The Agency” Season 1, Episode 10, “Overtaken By Events.”]
The finale of “The Agency,” Showtime’s espionage thriller from writers John-Henry and Jez Buttersworth, opens on Michael Fassbender concealing his face. The man they call Martian is revving up his motorcycle, so he pushes down his black helmet and slides the visor shut over his eyes. In the moment, it’s a practical matter, but later, when he’s struck by a passing car and thrown from his bike, the habitual safety choice becomes another stark reminder of what’s at stake for our lovelorn spy: If he wants to survive, he has to hide his identity. Always. Without fail.
Throughout the 10-episode first season of “The Agency,” adapted from the 2015 French series “Le Bureau des Legendes,” Martian has to mask his true intentions in order to get what he wants. Sometimes, it’s for work, like when he’s trying to...

What do Kim Novak, Jim Carrey, John Turturro, and the late Donald Sutherland all have in common? Well, aside from being acclaimed actors, these stars have never (we repeat: never) been nominated for an Academy Award. And that crime is now being celebrated by the annual anti-awards season festival, hosted by the Museum of the Moving Image.
The beloved museum announced its third iteration of the popular “Snubbed” screening series, which reexamines films that have been overlooked by the Academy. The 2025 theme is centered on actors and titled “Snubbed Forever: Great Actors, No Nominations.” The program will run February 1 through March 9, and feature 21 films starring actors who have never been nominated for an Oscar.
Highlights include Kim Novak in the enduring “Vertigo,” John Turturro and John Goodman in “Barton Fink,” Rita Hayworth in “The Lady from Shanghai,” Jim Carrey in “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” and Danny DeVito in “Batman Returns.

Dexter fans have a lot to look forward to this year, as not only is Dexter: Origins in the midst of its run on Showtime with Paramount+, but Dexter: Resurrection will also premiere in June. To top it all off, the sequel series has just landed one of the biggest names ever to appear in the Dexter universe: Uma Thurman.
Per Deadline, Thurman has signed on to appear as a series regular in Dexter: Resurrection, joining the returning Michael C. Hall as the titular serial killer, David Zayas as Angel Batista, James Remar as Harry Morgan, and Jack Alcott as Dexter's son, Harrison. Thurman is undoubtedly a global superstar, and certainly brings a lot of star power to the series. She's perhaps most remembered for her supporting role in Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction, and for starring in the director's martial arts action films Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2. Her...

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Dexter: New Blood.
It may have been almost four years now since Michael C. Hall's Dexter Morgan was both figuratively and literally put on ice during the dramatic climax of Dexter: New Blood, but the crime solving serial killer and his namesake franchise have scarcely been more alive. With Paramount+ and Showtime prequel series Dexter: Original Sin already proving a hit with fans and critics alike, production is already underway on Dexter: Resurrections, a present day sequel series set after New Blood's trigger happy ending. And in a major casting coup, none other than Beatrix Kiddo herself, Uma Thurman, has joined the show as a series regular.

There’s a scene in “The Devil Wears Prada” where Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly is fighting to keep her top fashion magazine job. Over coffee in Paris, Priestly slips a piece of paper to her boss containing the names of “designers, photographers, editors, writers, models — all of whom found by me, nurtured by me and have promised me they will follow me whenever and if ever I choose to leave.” Naturally, the boss reconsidered and Priestly won the day.

Paul Schrader is sounding off in support of using ChatGPT to come up with ideas for films. In a recent Facebook post, the “Taxi Driver” writer and “First Reformed” director said he asked the AI platform to generate plots for movies by famous filmmakers, including himself, and was impressed by the results.
“I’M Stunned,” Schrader wrote. “I just asked chatgpt for ‘an idea for Paul Schrader film.’ Then Paul Thomas Anderson. Then Quentin Tarantino. Then Harmony Korine. Then Ingmar Bergman. Then Rossellini. Lang. Scorsese. Murnau. Capra. Ford. Speilberg [sic]. Lynch. Every idea chatgpt came up with (in a few seconds) was good. And original. And fleshed out. Why should writers sit around for months searching for a good idea when AI can provide one in seconds?”
The post prompted plenty of backlash from Schrader’s followers, with responses including: “Paul is everything ok?,” “I think Paul has been hacked” and “Jesus Paul…...

Warning: This article contains Spoilers for The Agency episode 8I have to preface this review by saying that, while I am aware that The Agency is based on a successful French TV series, Le Bureau des Légendes, I have never watched the original. As such, while some watching Michael Fassbender's new spy series could more or less know where things are headed, I'm in the dark as to what the original series showcased in its first season finale and subsequent seasons. I preferred it that way to be able to judge The Agency on its own, and episode 9 has set up a finale I can't wait for.
The Agency is a 2024 espionage thriller following covert CIA agent Martian, who is recalled to London Station, disrupting his undercover life. As a former romance rekindles, Martian's career and true identity are jeopardized, leading him into a high-stakes world of international intrigue and deception.

Julia Roberts is one of the most influential and iconic actresses to have ever gotten success in Hollywood. An Oscar-winner for Erin Brockovich, Roberts is also seen as the one actress who single-handedly bridged the gap between the salaries of male and female actors.

Among the all-time great years for cinema, few can boast the murderer's row of titles that 1982 can. From John Carpenter's cult classic horror masterpiece The Thing to Ridley Scott's Bladerunner, Martin Scorsese's The King of Comedy, and Steven Spielberg's E.T. the Extraterrestrial, there is no shortage of titles that are not only great but remarkably influential. Alongside those monolithic classics, a little $7.5 million romance flick released to rapturous praise and Oscar nominations, even being hailed as one of the year's best films and earning a memorable reference in The Simpsons. That film is An Officer and a Gentleman, directed by Taylor Hackford and starring Richard Gere and Debra Winger. Now, the charming classic is available to stream on Paramount+ to start the New Year with a bit of love and drama.

Warning: This article contains Spoilers for The Agency episode 8I continue to be impressed by how much I am enjoying The Agency after a slower first batch of episodes. The start of the season was important to set up a few mysteries that would be unraveled throughout its freshman outing. While I predicted how some of those storylines would turn out, most of them have panned out in quite surprising ways. The show's psychological games are exciting to watch and Michael Fassbender consistently delivers excellent performances as Martian — one of my favorite characters of his — as his life continues to change before his eyes.
The Agency is a 2024 espionage thriller following covert CIA agent Martian, who is recalled to London Station, disrupting his undercover life. As a former romance rekindles, Martian's career and true identity are jeopardized, leading him into a high-stakes world of international intrigue and deception.
