The View hosts kicked off their segment in the usual way Tuesday, covering the latest major headlines with fiery exchanges. Only this time, the matter that captivated them the most in their first “Hot Topics” session was the reporting that Donald Trump fell asleep during the first day of his criminal trial in New York. To mark the occasion, the cohosts filed out onto the stage to the tune of Wham!’s “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go,” with Whoopi Goldberg explaining, “Yesterday was the first day of You Know Who’s hush money trial, and among the many reports coming out of the courtroom is that You Know Who could not keep his eyes open.” They then reviewed one of the many, many hilarious late-night host’s takes on the same story: Jon Stewart’s line from The Daily Show Monday night. “Imagine doing so many crimes that...

Whoopi Goldberg didn’t let a little play-off music stop her from finishing her impassioned thoughts on the state of current affairs in the United States on Monday’s episode of The View. The cohosts had some hotter-than-usual “Hot Topics” to start the show with — chiefly, the history-making beginning of the first criminal trial against Donald Trump in New York, who stands accused of crimes associated with a hush-money payment to an adult film star. The cohosts each presented their perspectives on the matter of Trump’s trial, largely agreeing that it is an “unprecedented” and “shameful” situation. They ran into some friction, however, when they got to the second segment of the discussion about New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu’s pledge to support Trump, even if he’s convicted on all of the dozens of crimes he is accused of in his four separate cases. Alyssa Farah Griffin, for one,...

Will The View return for Season 28 this fall, and if not, what will take its place? Many fans may ask that question after surprising news about The Talk.
When one talk show is canceled, fans wonder if their favorite one will be axed, too, and The View fans may wonder how it is doing and if it will be renewed.
The Talk, which seemed created to compete with The View, will end its run in December with Season 15.
CBS announced that The Talk, with Sheryl Underwood, Jerry O Connell, and Natalie Morales will finish up a shortened season in December 2024 and not return in January 2025, Deadline reports.
The View has not yet been renewed for Season 28, and that news may not come until later that summer, like last year. However, there are clues that the renewal will come soon.

Immediately after O.J. Simpson’s death from cancer made the news worldwide, Whoopi Goldberg took time out from the hot topics portion of The View to announce it for those tuning in.
She began the segment by saying, “News broke that O.J. Simpson passed away from cancer at 76.”
As previously reported by Monsters and Critics, O.J. passed away, and a statement from the family reads in part, ” On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer.”
O.J. is most famous for the “trial of the century,” as Sunny Hostin called it on The View.
He was acquitted of murdering Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, both of whom died on June 12, 1994, but was subsequently found liable for their deaths, according to ABC News.
The trial in which he was acquitted held special meaning for Sunny Hostin and was partly responsible for shaping her career.

Cameras on Thursday’s installment of The View began rolling live minutes after it was announced that the infamous O.J. Simpson had died at the age of 76, so the cohosts addressed the matter of his death first thing on the show. Top of mind for all of them, though, was his live-televised trial and ultimate acquittal for the murders of wife Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman. Whoopi Goldberg made the initial announcement, saying, “Just before we went on air today, news broke that O.J. Simpson has passed away at age 76. He was battling cancer. And he’s passed, so we didn’t want you to sort of not know, because we just got it, so we’re passing it on to you.” Sunny Hostin was the first to comment, revealing her personal and professional connections to the story: “Can I just say, who doesn’t remember the trial of the century?...

The View has seen its share of excitement lately with all the commotion from earthquakes and eclipses to show-interrupting audience members intent on disturbing the filming.
Last week, after a 4.8-magnitude earthquake hit the northeast, a late-emergency alarm sounded during the live taping of The View.

The View‘s “Hot Topics” segment got a bit personal for several of the cohosts, especially Sunny Hostin. In the episode, Hostin, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, and Alyssa Farah Griffin (note: Sara Haines was absen t Tuesday) talked about a viral video in which a woman contended that she was accused of not putting enough effort into her appearance by not wearing makeup. “I think that’s hard to tell [someone] because no one would ever ask a man why his face wasn’t made up, ever,” Goldberg said in reaction. “And to me, if I’m working on a pole, then you can talk to me about makeup. But if I’m working in a capacity where I have to talk to people and stuff, what does my face have to do with this? What does my makeup have to do with it?” Goldberg’s words were greeted with uproarious applause from the audience.

We needed to tell you that Sara’s out for a few days attending a funeral for a family friend. That’s why she’s not here. It got away from me, yeah.” On social media, viewers sent Haines notes of support, with one saying, “So sorry for your loss,” and another writing, “Aaaaawwww miss u @sarahaines and praying for u and the family.” TV Insider has reached out to Haines’ reps for comments and did not hear back at the time of publication.

As always, the opening music was a tribute to the occasion, as they walked onto the stage to the tune of The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights.” Then, they encouraged audiences to wear special eclipse-specific sunglasses to avoid being, well, blinded by the light. “You will not be blinded by the light unless you do something dumb like this,” Goldberg said, while pointing to a photo of then-President Donald Trump staring at the sky without his own eye protection. “Unless you know that the glasses you have are eclipse glasses, do not put them on to look at the sun.

Sajak has hosted some version of the syndicated game show since 1981; the show itself launched in 1975, but he took over the daytime version in 1981 and has hosted the nighttime version since 1983. He taped his final episode hosting on Friday. He announced in June 2023 that he was planning to step down as host.

The ladies on The View must be ready for almost anything on their show, from comedian Joy Behar’s insensitive jokes to Whoopi Goldberg having to shut down people trying to disrupt filming.
This time, an act of nature caused a massive disruption to the live filming of The View.
A 4.8-magnitude earthquake hit New Jersey and New York, among other states, at 10:23 a.m. Et, as reported by USA Today.
The View films live most days at 11 a.m. Et. The ladies were all backstage preparing for the show during the earthquake.
The show began normally after the shake-up, but the calmness would not last long.
Just after the song, I Feel the Earth Move by Carole King played, things went haywire.

Donald Trump is not only the 45th President of America, but he’s also throwing his hat into the ring once again to try and become the 47th President of the U.S.
A very polarizing political figure, in addition to being the leader of the free world, he also has real-estate mogul to his resume, as well as actor, appearing in many movies over the years.
But, why has he had so many cameos in the past? During a Hollywood Reporter interview, actor Matt Damon stated that Trump had a special requirement for filmmakers who wanted to use any of his properties in their films, and that was apparently to give him a small movie role in the flick.
Most of these movie appearances have caught fans completely off guard. Below is the top “unexpected” movie cameos Donald Trump has made.

Update, with video: The View‘s Hot Topics took on a whole new meaning today when the co-hosts weighed in on the recent controversy over the claim of a TikTok user who insists that Saturday Night Live “has never hired a hot woman” as a cast member.
Introducing the discussion with an eye roll and a dismissive wave of her hand, Whoopi Goldberg otherwise refused to engage in the debate, tossing the discussion to co-host and stand-up comedian Joy Behar.
“First of all, it’s a comedy show not a beauty pageant,” Behar said. “It’s not for men to ogle women who are trying to get a laugh.”
Watch the segment below.
Behar then said that being overtly sexy can interfere with joke-telling. “No one’s going to laugh at what you say if they’re too busy looking at your boobs,” she said.

Mario Van Peebles has been tapped to direct “That’ll Be the Day,” the story of how Buddy Holly and other musicians of the late 1950s helped give birth to rock ‘n’ roll and influence the wider societal and cultural landscape, including the civil rights movement.
Music has been central to much of Van Peebles’ work, from his 1991 gangster movie “New Jack City” to his work on “Wu-Tang: An American Saga,” which he co-executive produced for Hulu. Van Peebles is currently writing a musical stage tribute to his father Melvin Van Peebles, to be performed at New York City’s Lincoln Center later this year.
“America’s tumultuous cultural melting pot has produced transcendent musical talent, including Buddy Holly, who was our first bad ass rock ’n’ roll nerd,” Van Peebles said in a statement.

On Tuesday’s edition of The View, the hosts dug into a wealth of hot-button issues, starting with Donald Trump‘s social media posting of an image showing President Joe Biden bound and lying horizontally on the back of a truck embellished with Trump flags. The image was roundly rebuked by the news media, which largely refused to show the image, and host Whoopi Goldberg opened the show by suggesting the former Potus needs a visit from the Secret Service. “You Know Who spent the most sacred weekend on the Catholic calendar posting rants about the judge in his New York fraud case, making false claims about the judge’s daughter, and reposting a violent image of President Biden that we are not going to show you here today,” Goldberg said. “These rants violate the court’s gag order, so why does he keep getting away with it? That image is so violent.

The seemingly doctored photo of the princess, along with her three kids, didn’t help ameliorate the situation and only added to the speculations. But it seems Middleton is apparently worried about the Duke of Sussex’s upcoming visit in May, who is expected to meet The Prince and Princess of Wales.

Rebel Wilson Was Known For Being Heavier In Hollywood
Rebel Wilson’s breakout acting role was as part of the Pitch Perfect franchise as Fat Amy. When that is the role you really become known for, that tells you something about her physical appearance at the time, as well as how viewers remember her most, even all these years later.
Just like other actors such as Melissa McCarthy and Jonah Hill, when you’re carrying a few extra pounds in Hollywood, you’re automatically lumped into comic relief roles. The sidekick to the good-looking leads, the Zach Galifianakis to Bradley Cooper in The Hangover films.

On The View this week, Joy Behar seemed to drop a spoiler about a huge movie role for Whoopi Goldberg. It came when the team interviewed Zoë Saldaña and Marco Perego about their movie, The Absence of Eden.

When the co-host talked about Whoopi, she might have been wrong to do that. Perhaps, as fans suspect, she should think about retiring and focusing on her writing and comedy show. This year’s races for Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress were over before they started. Robert Downey Jr. in “Oppenheimer” and Da’Vine Joy Randolph in “The Holdovers” took leads in the Gold Derby odds in their respective categories early in the season. They both went on to pick up Golden Globe, Critics Choice, BAFTA and SAG Awards. By the time the Oscars rolled around, there was a “near zero” chance of either of them losing.
In contrast, the lead acting contests provided considerably more suspense. Bradley Cooper in “Maestro,” Paul Giamatti in “The Holdovers” and Cillian Murphy in “Oppenheimer” were all looking strong at different point in the derby, before Murphy really exploded and ultimately won the Best Actor Oscar. Things on The View took a turn recently when Whoopi Goldberg had to shut everything down to deal with an unruly audience member.
Whoopi is not afraid to speak up about topics she thinks they should avoid or tell errant audience members to stop when breaking the rules.

“Sir. I have to stop you with your camera cause I can see you. Do me a favor; don’t pull it out again. I don’t appreciate that. Thank you.”
The other ladies were confused and scared. Joy Behar asked, “What was he doing?”
Sunny Hostin looked upset as Sara Haines whispered, “Recording.”
The New York Post reports that during a taping of The View, cellphones “are prohibited and are expected to be silenced or turned off during the live broadcast to avoid any interruptions.
