Only one person has held the record for appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in two different characters and that is Robert Downey Jr. Well, Jenna Ortega could be next.

The 1970s have certainly been a golden decade in terms of movies. From ingenious comedies to extravagant musicals, the 10-year period boasts a long list of cults. Among these, romances shine particularly brightly, offering narratives filled with passion and drama through unique stories that capture the nuances and complexities of human relationships.
However, not all these movies have happy endings. Many of the most romantic tales of the era embraced a different path from the traditional rom-com's cheerful conclusion, and they opted for more dramatic, often realistic resolutions, that would emphasize not just the beauty of love but also its complications and, sometimes, its fleeting nature. By focusing on the fragile beauty of relationships and the pain of separation or loss, these films portray love's impact on the human soul, even in its impermanence, making these stories profoundly memorable.

The tropes and character types associated with Western films work well within the framework of a thriller, resulting in some truly captivating movies. The actions of an outlaw or bounty hunter in several Westerns make for a thrilling chase that keeps audiences on their toes. In many of these films, the protagonist is neither good nor bad, blurring the lines for audiences and creating a more suspenseful viewing experience, as seen in Unforgiven with Clint Eastwood's William Munny.
Films like No Country for Old Men or The Proposition tell gritty, somewhat realistic stories, subverting the expectations of audiences greatly familiar with the genre's formula and tropes. These films typically incorporate aspects of other genres like horror and action to create a well-rounded and increasingly effective thrill for audiences. Though Westerns have always been associated with gunfights and rough protagonists, as the years have passed, more modern Westerns have told darker stories,...

Being an actor is not just about making sure your character comes across as convincing and authentic as possible, it is also about choosing the right role. Moreover, an actor must know the roles that they will fit into instead of trying to push boundaries. While pushing boundaries is a good thing, not every time leads to success and an actor must know when and when not to take the leap of faith.

Captain America: The First Avenger was an effective introduction for Steve Rogers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Three years later, Captain America: The Winter Soldier blew it out of the water and, for the most part, it's since overshadowed the 2011 blockbuster.
Cap's origin story is well worth revisiting, and the movie boasts an impressive cast which, alongside Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell, includes Sebastian Stan, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, and Stanley Tucci.
The latter recently spoke to Variety and reflected positively on his brief stint in the MCU where he played the heroic Dr. Abraham Erskine, the man who created the Super Soldier Serum. He also serves as a mentor, of sorts, to the young Steve.

The movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have occasionally wasted great actors, with many such individuals deserving another chance within the franchise. The MCU’s movie timeline has seen it grow from a handful of connected stories to the biggest and most successful franchise in modern cinema. Movies based on the characters and stories of Marvel Comics have never been more prevalent in pop culture consciousness, with an ever-growing number of characters being introduced on the big screen.
As the number of movies in the MCU has grown, so too has its list of cast members. Inevitably, some Marvel movie actors find themselves wasted in a role, either because it was too short-lived or because it didn’t play to their strengths as an actor. In many cases, the actors in question deserve another chance in Marvel movies, either being brought back in their previous role or being reintroduced in an entirely new one.

Or perhaps you're on a date in the heart of the city, feeling sparks and beginning to be hopeful about the romantic promise the next few hours might hold. Then, a few short hours later, the city around you has changed irrevocably. Where your thoughts were previously of everyday frivolities and dreams of the future, you're suddenly trapped in an up-to-the-minute nightmare. The future is no longer a glittering horizon that you're looking forward to exploring. Instead, you're frozen in a never-ending Now, a state of readiness and alertness which is both invigorating and draining you simultaneously. Your mind rushes to prioritize people, places, and the most mobile of things while your physical body is in a bubble of inertia. The Batman films of the 1980s and 1990s introduced a whole generation to a swathe of classic DC characters; unfortunately, others were completely squandered. Warner Bros.’ initial four Batman movies introduced several memorable portrayals, like Michael Keaton’s brooding Batman and Jack Nicholson’s devilish Joker. However, they also squandered numerous opportunities with fascinating characters. Whether sidelined, underwritten, or mishandled, these characters represent what could have been.
The 1980s and 90s Batman movies began with Tim Burton’s gothic, noir take in 1989, before the more horror-inspired Batman Returns. Joel Schumacher was hired to direct the third entry, Batman Forever, dropping the overt horror tones for gothic until Batman & Robin, which killed the franchise until Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins. The films were defined by their visual flair and larger-than-life characters. Yet, the limitations of the time – ranging from studio interference to overstuffed scripts – meant many characters didn’t get their due.

Exclusive: Tom Holland has made a deal to star in and produce The Partner, a drama based on the John Grisham 1997 bestseller that The Imitation Game’s Graham Moore is scripting for Universal.
The novel was written by Grisham at a time he was getting as much as $8 million for movie rights to compulsively readable thrillers that made strong vehicles for stars and directors. That included putting Matthew McConaughey, Sandra Bullock and Sam Jackson on fast tracks in A Time To Kill, along with Tom Cruise (The Firm), Matt Damon and Claire Danes (The Rainmaker), Tommy Lee Jones and Susan Sarandon (The Client), Denzel Washington and Julia Roberts (The Pelican Brief), and John Cusack, Gene Hackman and Rachel Weisz in The Runaway Jury.

Will Smith famously turned down the chance to don the iconic trench coat and sunglasses of Neo in The Matrix. The sci-fi film went on to become a cinematic gem with never-seen-before actions, groundbreaking visuals, and mind-bending storytelling. When Smith turned down the role, it went to Keanu Reeves who gave an unforgettable portrayal.

As he continues to find success with one of his ongoing movie series, a Will Smith franchise is finding renewed success on streaming. Since his breakout turn with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Smith has found widespread success both as a blockbuster actor and a prestige actor. This, in turn, has netted him four Oscar nominations and one win for Best Actor for King Richard, as well as seven Golden Globe nominations and one win for Best Actor for the same Venus and Serena Williams biopic.
When it comes to his blockbuster productions, Smith has been the face of both a variety of one-off titles and major franchises. Some of the more notable include Roland Emmerich's Independence Day, which helped cement him as a major box office name, 2004's I, Robot and 2007's I Am Legend adaptation. It was more than 18 months ago that we learned John Hillcoat will adapt Blood Meridian, perhaps our era’s quintessential piece of cinema-defying material. What’s eluded a list of auteurs from notable (Todd Field) to intriguing (Tommy Lee Jones) to Ymmv (Ridley Scott) to Dear God (James Franco) had now fallen to a director most, regardless their opinion on his films, would call a journeyman––a journeyman who also earned Cormac McCarthy’s blessing as executive producer and one-time screenwriting volunteer. The time since has seen its author’s passing and (notwithstanding John Logan joining as scribe) little else on Hillcoat’s project.
Credit goes to Alexander Sorondo, who’s penned a five-part investigation into McCarthy’s later years on his Substack big reader bad grades. Reading requires a $5 subscription that’s more than worth the price of admission––safe to say the reclusive novelist has rarely seemed so available.

No Country for Old Men is one of the landmark movies of the past 20 years, setting new standards for the Western genre and walking away with four Oscars, including Best Picture. However, No Country for Old Men's ending is somewhat surprising, when the two biggest character deaths in the movie both happen off-screen. Yet when it is widely agreed upon that the Coen brothers created a masterpiece for the modern age with this drama, there is certainly a reason for this creative decision.
No Country for Old Men examines themes of morality and pure evil in an evolving world when Sheriff Ed Tom Bell (Tommy Lee Jones), characterized as a man of a bygone era, attempts to track down Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) before he is killed by Anton Chigurh, the latter one of the most iconic movie villains of all time and the career-defining performance of Javier Bardem.

The cast and crew of Steven Spielberg's Lincoln rose to the occasion with stringent demands for historical accuracy from the lead actor, with plenty of accolades at the end of the day to show for their hard work. Starring the legendary Daniel Day-Lewis in the title role, Lincoln depicts President Abraham Lincoln's efforts to pass the 13th Amendment in the final days of the U.S. Civil War. Day-Lewis was not the only actor to be recognized for Lincoln, with both Sally Field and Tommy Lee Jones also being nominated for Oscars for their performances.
It is hardly a surprise that Day-Lewis would go on to become one of the best actors to portray a U.S. President, or that Spielberg's historical epic achieved such success, given the history of both Hollywood icons' careers. Space exploration movies have the power to grip audiences more than many other genres, because they speak to the deep human sense of wonder and trepidation. As the world gets more connected and less mysterious, outer space represents the few mysteries still remaining in our universe. The scale of the cosmos lends itself to stories of both optimism and despair, and space exploration movies can be science-fiction or more realistic dramas.
1902's A Trip to the Moon shows that space exploration has been a part of sci-fi cinema since the dawn of film. Although movies have gotten longer, more complex and more sophisticated since the time of Georges Méliès, the basic idea that space holds untapped riches and strange creatures is the same. The best space exploration movies can inspire a sense of awe and majesty, but they should also tell a grounded human story.

No one could have predicted then that he would become the president of the franchise, a position that he has held for over 15 years. He has become such an important part of the beloved series that he has very few credits outside of it; two, to be exact.

Joel and Ethan Coen brought a touch of levity to their adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s relentlessly bleak 2003 novel No Country for Old Men, though it’s the type of nervous humor that’s born from relieving immense tension. It was the Coens’ first film since their leaden remake of The Ladykillers, and it marked an exceptional return to their Blood Simple roots, another crime saga in which money is almost as irresistible as bad choices are inevitable.
The Coens’ cynical streak finds its perfect complement in McCarthy’s gloomy tale of biblical-scale chaos in 1980 Texas, and yet the filmmakers nonetheless locate the black comedy hidden within the acclaimed author’s terse, punctuation-sparse prose. Brusque exchanges and austere violence are the story’s stock-in-trade, with both elements so downbeat and harsh that they occasionally veer close to absurdity, thereby providing the filmmaking siblings with opportunities to wryly alleviate the oppressive...

Exclusive: Rosario Dawson is headlining the supernatural horror thriller Unmerciful Good Fortune from Tirsa Hacksaw, a veteran A.C.E. film and TV editor who is making her feature directorial debut.
Project, which Dawson is producing, is adapted from award-winning playwright Edwin Sanchez’s show of the same name.
Dawson plays Maritza Cruz, a high-end celebrity attorney, pulled into a headline-making case involving Fatima, a cunning young waitress who is accused of serial poisoning and murdering 28 people. Fatima’s defense takes a darkly mysterious turn when she claims to have the psychic ability to see how someone will die when she touches them and reveals she is killing people to prevent a “fate worse than death.”
Other producers include Tom DeSanto, Corey Large, and Brian Kirchoff for Rising Tide Entertainment. The film is executive produced by Jordan Wilson and Hackshaw. Pia Patatian’s new production and sales company,...

For many years, Hollywood didn't really know what to do with Ryan Reynolds. He was tried as a romantic lead, but few of his romance films were enormous hits. He also stumbled as an intense horror icon; the remake of "The Amityville Horror" didn't do him any favors. Reynolds was celebrated as a comedic lead in films like "Waiting..." and "Van Wilder," but he could only play an immature buffoon for so long. Many know of his missteps as an action star, as films like "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and "Green Lantern" have been wildly lambasted by fans and even Reynolds himself. It wouldn't be until performances in films like "The Voices," "Pokémon Detective Pikachu," and of course, "Deadpool" that the destined-for-stardom star would finally become a force to be reckoned with. His 2024 film "Deadpool & Wolverine" (which he also produced and co-wrote) made over $1.3 billion.

While Toy Story 5 is due to release in 2026, it isn't the toy-centric sequel that most desperately needs a sequel; that title goes to Small Soldiers, the 1998 action comedy starring Kirsten Dunst and Alan Abernathy that has evolved into a cult classic in the last two decades. The Toy Story movies focus on the perspective of toys that come to life whenever humans aren't around, and while Small Soldiers also features toys that come to life, they have no compunction about showing just how alive they are. In fact, some of them come into direct conflict with humans.
In the Toy Story universe, all toys come to life, while in the Small Soldiers universe, a select few are brought to life by a malfunctioning military microchip. The action was driven by a star-studded voice cast led by Tommy Lee Jones and Frank Langella in addition to the up-and-coming Dunst, and...

Jenna Ortega rose to the ranks of A-listers, and she is now working with the biggest stars in the industry. In fact, her collaboration with Oscar awardee Tommy Lee Jones is proof that she has made it big in Hollywood. However, their movie together did not prove to be successful.
Credits: Tommy Lee Jones in Finestkind / Paramount+
What’s more upsetting is that they worked on this project called Finestkind with famed producer Taylor Sheridan. Chances are, you haven’t watched or heard about this movie until today. Or, if you’re familiar with this, it means you know it flopped critically.
Jenna Ortega and Tommy Lee Jones’ Finestkind Failed to Impress the Critics
Finestkind premiered on Paramount+ last year, and many critics aired their frustration over the film. The majority described it as a mess, but more importantly, they blamed director and writer Brian Helgeland for wasting such a stellar cast.

No Country for Old Men is the 2007 award-winning neo-Western by the Coen Brothers, based on the hit book by Cormac McCarthy, and both the movie and novel are populated with memorable characters. The movie follows a man named Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin), who stumbles upon a cartel's suitcase full of money and decides to run with it. That decision kicks off a chase through the American Southwest between him, Sheriff Ed Tom Bell (Tommy Lee Jones), and the terrifying Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem). All three men are tied by fate yet rarely meet throughout the film.
The movie was a major success, earning $171.6 million at the box office (via Box Office Mojo). No Country for Old Men is one of the Coens' best movies, nominated for eight Oscars, winning Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor for Bardem. Some props from Batman Forever have recently been put up for sale, and I can't help but be tempted by the DC Universe listing for The Riddler's costume. While Batman Forever was not the greatest of the live-action Batman films, it did something special in marrying the campy styles of the 1960s Adam West iteration with the dark, Gothic style of Tim Burton's Batman. With bright neon lights and rubber suits, director Joel Schumacher presented a genuinely unique look at the city of Gotham.
Batman's rogues galleries in Schumacher’s films were refreshingly strange adaptations, translated from some of the wackiest ideas from the comics. Using a scarred and theatrical version of Two-Face with Tommy Lee Jones contributed to a brash villain that celebrated his own duality. Nothing like the Paul Dano version of The Batman, Jim Carrey's Riddler went even bigger than Jones’ Two-Face, becoming...

Ralph Fiennes is an incredibly gifted actor, and his performance as Amon Göth in Schindler's List is unquestionably the best portrayal of a war movie villain. Steven Spielberg's project is widely regarded as one of the greatest movies of all time, and the 1993 motion picture is highly respected for how accurately Schindler's List's characters compare to real-life figures. Considering the film's enduring position in cinematic history, Ralph Fiennes' loss at the 1994 Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor remains a glaring injustice.
Tasked with overseeing the Kraków-Płaszów concentration camp, Amon Göth was a high-profile SS officer. A sadistic embodiment of evil, the actor's harrowing portrayal imbues Göth with chilling authenticity. However, despite being recognized and acclaimed for his haunting performance, Fiennes did not receive the recognition many felt he deserved at the 1994 Academy Awards ceremony. 30 years on, this decision only feels more ill-judged.

It can’t be denied that as far as the old-time action heroes go, Steven Seagal doesn’t get much respect these days. A whole lot has been written about Steven Seagal’s behaviour off-screen (much of it by us), and I’m not going to rehash it all here, but suffice it to say there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of goodwill left over for the former ponytailed action hero. While many would say he’s become a parody of himself in recent years, one shouldn’t forget that, at the start of his career, Seagal was ultra-popular. His Aikido moves, plus his tall, almost lanky figure and quiet demeanour made him unique among action heroes of the day. And, if you look at his filmography, his first five movies are really good as far as action flicks of the era go. Everything else? Well, not so much,...

Clint Eastwood is one of the biggest Hollywood stars of his generation, but that doesnt mean he can take on every single role thats offered to him. The actors career has stretched over seven decades, comprising a huge amount of different genres and styles, as hes continually tried new things and tried to keep up with the changing face of the industry. The reason Eastwoods career has been filled with so many great movies and lasted for so many years is his ability to change his signature style at the drop of a hat, which has kept him relevant.
Another reason that Eastwood has found such huge success is his ability to know exactly which roles are right for him, and which could be better tackled by a different actor. In his prime, the actor was starring in multiple different movies each year, but he wasnt just accepting any script...

Though the Marvel Cinematic Universe has achieved massive success, some of its actors also appeared in other terrible comic book movies. You know that fake commercial in Tropic Thunder where Tugg Speedman and the Scorcher franchise keep coming back again… again… and again? That’s pretty much the Terminator franchise by 2019. Where over and over again it respawns and says “I’ll be back… but this time it’ll be different. It’ll be a re-imagining! Accompanied by another trilogy. No, this time we’re back with the old cast! And it’ll be like before!” It’s like Jim Carrey yelling at Matthew Broderick in The Cable Guy “I can fix it! I can make it cool again, Stephen!” But will they? For some! Not for all. This is the story of what happened to Terminator: Dark Fate. The film that may have killed the Terminator movie franchise for good.
When Terminator Genisys performed poorly at the domestic box office, Skydance Productions (which suspiciously sounds like Skynet) was left with a choice.

No Country For Old Men is commonly regarded as a modern classic, yet the No Country for Old Men ending proved to be divisive due to its final scene. No Country For Old Men is a highly faithful adaptation of author Cormac McCarthys novel, which follows a man named Llewelyn Moss who steals a bag of drug money before finding himself pursued by the seemingly ethereal hitman Anton Chigurh. The story also involves the jaded Sheriff Bell, who hopes to save Moss and stop the trail of destruction Chigurh leaves in his bloodthirsty wake.

Christopher Nolans Interstellar is one of the best sci-fi movies of the 2010s, and though others tried to repeat its success, theres only one other space movie that truly feels like a spiritual successor to it. Was The Rock not initially cast in Fast & Furious? (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Did you ever wonder what Fast & Furious might’ve looked like without The Rock? Neither did we… until Vin Diesel dropped this wild nugget during a 2017 Facebook Q&a. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson wasn’t always meant to be the bulldozer of justice, Luke Hobbs. Nope, the role was written for Tommy Lee Jones! Diesel spilled the tea: “There was a girl named Jen (maybe Jan?) Kelly who said, ‘I would love to see you guys work together on-screen.’ So, we initially gave a role written for Tommy Lee Jones, but we gave it to Dwayne, and he shined in it.”
So, let’s rewind. Tommy Lee Jones, the action movie vet known for The Fugitive and Under Siege, was supposed to be the big bad in the Fast & Furious universe. Instead, they handed that part over to Johnson,...
