Sometimes even the best television shows are victims of their own success, running longer than their natural story should at the expense of their overall quality. From will-they/won't-they romances fulfilled too quickly or the show trying to prolong its central conflicts and mysteries, popular shows try to artificially draw out their narratives to maintain audiences. This leaves even the most ardent fans of a given show acknowledging that there are lesser seasons missing the magic that made the series so successful. A perfect show knows when to call it quits before it overstays its welcome, but very few of them can take that hint.

Simply put, even many beloved shows just try to milk the last bit of success they can, even after enduring changes to their overarching plot or main cast. In doing so, the legacy of these prolonged series is a bit tarnished from their previous esteemed status.

Am I Racist?, the first theatrical release from Jeremy Boreing and Ben Shapiro’s The Daily Wire, had a phenomenal opening weekend grossing $4.75 million on 1,517 screens for the no. 4 spot at the domestic box office and one of the top documentary bows of the past decade.

Baywatch star Nicole Eggert has shared a video in which she shaves her head, as she continues to be treated for a “very rare form” of breast cancer.

The actress, who played Summer Quinn on Baywatch from 1992 to 1994, posted the video to Instagram earlier this week. As she took the blades to her hair, the Beastie Boys’ song Fight For Your Right provided the soundtrack. She started the process herself, and was helped by her daughter to finish off.

Eggert shared in January that she had been diagnosed with stage 2 cribriform carcinoma after suffering with pain in her left breast.

She accompanied the shaving video with the words:

Baywatch star Nicole Eggert announced that she has been diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer.

Eggert said something didn’t feel right recently when she observed rapid weight gain and pain in her left breast. The actress thought she was going through menopause. After having mammograms and biopsies in November, a pathology report confirmed that she had stage 2 cribriform carcinoma.

Eggert said she’ll have to go under the knife and is awaiting news as to when chemo and radiation will start.

She stated that she has anxieties about the cancer metastasizing. “I have panics where I’m like, just get this out of me,” she said. “You sit there and it’s in you and you’re like, every second that passes and it’s inside of me. It’s growing, and you’re just like, you just want it out.”

Her daughter, Keegan, 12, is giving her inspiration to get through the fight.

Jon M. Chu’s “Wicked” movies, starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, were just 10 days away from wrapping principal photography when most of the production was shut down due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Jonathan Bailey, who plays Fiyero in the big screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, was able to continue some shooting because he’s on an equity contract.

Even so, being notified that filming would be delayed was devastating, Bailey says.

Donald Trump is releasing a new book next month that’s comprised solely of letters the twice-impeached former president has received from celebrities over the years. And, if it sells well, Jimmy Fallon has an idea for the sequel: a compilation of all the times Trump was ordered to appear in court.

Fallon’s guess came during Thursday night’s monologue on “The Tonight Show,” as he marveled at the concept of the book in general, pointing out how weird it is to publish letters from so many people that have disavowed him at this point.

“It’s kind of strange. Trump’s bragging like, ‘Look at all the friends I used to have. It’s all in the book,'” Fallon mocked. “Yep, the first five letters are from celebrities, the rest are just fan mail from Scott Baio.”

Lance Kerwin, the former child actor who shot to fame in the late 1970s as the star of the sometimes controversial NBC teen drama series James at 15, died Tuesday of undetermined causes in San Clemente, CA. He was 62.

His death was announced by his daughter Savanah in a Facebook post today.

If Gov. Gavin Newsom is recalled next week, the entertainment industry will lose a valuable ally in Sacramento.

The industry’s top concern at the Capitol is the film and TV tax credit, which provides a 20-25% discount on eligible production spending in the state. In July, Newsom signed a two-year expansion of the program, bringing it to $420 million a year, and indicated he would support making that increase permanent.

With the exception of former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, the leading Republican candidates to replace Newsom all oppose the film incentive.

Radio host Larry Elder, who has led in the replacement polls since entering the race in July, has long been against giving tax credits to Hollywood. He sees the program as “hypocritical,” given Democrats’ support for higher corporate tax rates on other industries.

Actor Johnny Crawford, known for playing Chuck Connors’ son in ABC series “The Rifleman” from 1958-63, has died. He was 75.

“It is with great sadness and heaviness of heart that the Johnny Crawford Legacy team announce the passing of Johnny Crawford,” it was posted on the Johnny Crawford Legacy website. “He passed away peacefully this evening, April 29, 2021 with Charlotte, his wife, by his side.”

In “The Rifleman,” Crawford played Mark McCain, son of Civil War veteran Lucas McCain, played by Connors. He was nominated in the best supporting actor (continuing character) in a dramatic series category at the Primetime Emmys in 1959. He was 13 at the time.

In 2019, Crawford was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease before he contracted Covid-19 and then pneumonia.

Crawford was one of 24 Mouseketeers in the first season of ABC’s “The Mickey Mouse Club.” His early TV roles included “The Lone Ranger,” “Cavalcade of America” and “The Count of Monte Cristo.

Beloved actor Tim Curry is set to make a rare public appearance for a reunion of some of the cast from the 1975 musical sensation The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The reunion is taking place in aid of a fundraiser for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, in the United States, and will take place this coming Halloween.

Along with Tim Curry, the reunion will feature several other members of The Rocky Horror Picture Show cast, including original stars Barry Bostwick and Nell Campbell as well as Connie Britton, Wilmer Valderrama, Rosario Dawson, Lance Bass, Jason Alexander, Taylor Schilling, Jason George, and David Arquette. The fundraiser is being described as a musical event, and, according to a press release, Curry and the other performers from the hit horror musical will gather virtually for the livestream.

When the Wisconsin Democratic Party announced a cast reunion of Happy Days for this Sunday, all to raise money for the final sprint until election day, one member was noticeably absent: Scott Baio.

The Donald Trump supporter wrote on Twitter that the show was being used as a “political pawn.”

The result, though, was more attention for event, which in fundraising circles is just what is wanted in the final weeks of a presidential campaign, a time when donors are inundated with online appeals.

Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Seth Rogen, Bill Hader, Martha MacIssac, director Greg Mottola, producer Judd Apatow and co-writer Evan Goldberg are reuniting for a virtual script reading and fundraiser benefitting the Wisconsin Democratic Party.

The event will feature the actors’ commentary and conversation on the beloved 2007 high school comedy. Attendees must donate to the party to tune into the event.

The donation page explains the importance of winning Wisconsin, a vital swing state in the upcoming presidential election. “If Trump wins Wisconsin, his path to an electoral college win dramatically increases,” the announcement read. “Your donation will go toward stopping Trump from winning back the White House.”

Scott Baio, a vocal Trump supporter, expressed his disappointment over former “Happy Days” co-stars staging a reunion to raise money for the Wisconsin Democratic Party.

“What a shame to use a classic show like Happy Days about Americana to promote an anti-American socialist,” Baio tweeted.

Hollywood megaproducer Ron Howard, who co-starred as Richie Cunningham alongside Baio on the classic 80’s sitcom , announced the event via Twitter on Monday.

“The most important election of our lifetimes is right around the corner and Wisconsin is a must-win state. So I’m thrilled to announce a #HappyDaysReunion to support @WisDems on Oct 25,” Howard tweeted.

The director Alan Parker who brought us gangster comedies, oddball indies, multiple musicals, and prestige literary adaptations has died at 76 years of age of an undisclosed lengthy illness.
