Sebastian Stan Confessed He Used to Lie All the Time to Get Movie Roles
Image
With Thunderbolts* in theaters and a few more roles on the way, Sebastian Stan has been killing it recently. Well, to be fair, he’s been killing the scene for quite some time now. Whether it’s Carter Baizen in Gossip Girl or Steve in Fresh, the actor has consistently proven his range on screen. Just look at A Different Man and The Apprentice – two completely different roles in the same year! And of course, we don’t even need to mention Bucky Barnes.

However, it looks like Sebastian Stan may not have been entirely transparent while auditioning for the plethora of characters he has played. As it turns out, he has lied a handful of times just to get ahead of the line. A little white lie never hurt anyone, right?

‘Andor’ Season 2: Tony Gilroy Gave George Lucas the Perfect Tribute That I’ve Been Waiting for 45 Years
Image
Tony Gilroy helped shape Andor, which recently concluded its run with an empathic season 2 finale. The series has been widely hailed as one of the best Star Wars projects in recent times and undoubtedly the best show produced by the saga since the departure of George Lucas.

Therefore, it is only fitting that Gilroy paid a tribute to one of Lucas’ original ideas from the first Star Wars movie. Gilroy’s revival of the idea is even more significant since Lucas himself retconned it almost 45 years ago. Here is the important idea that Tony Gilroy revived that the Star Wars franchise must relearn quickly.

Tony Gilroy revived a major George Lucas idea after 45 years in Andor season 2

After helping with the reshoots of 2016’s Rogue One, writer-director Tony Gilroy returned to the galaxy far, far away to helm the prequel series Andor. Starring Diego Luna in the titular role, the...

‘The King of Kings’ Hits One Last Milestone as Theatrical Run Starts to Slow
Image
There has rarely been a time as promising as now for faith-based movies. With The Chosen: Last Supper trilogy and other Dallas Jenkins properties proving biblical adventures are as popular as ever, it's true that the release of Seong-ho Jang's The King of Kings was perfectly timed. Massively surpassing many people's expectations as to what it could achieve, Jang's tale of Charles Dickens (Kenneth Branagh) and his young son's trip to the past as they witness the life of Jesus Christ, voiced by Oscar Isaac, has been an almighty hit, even hitting another major box office milestone despite its theatrical run slowing down.

In total, The King of Kings has now surpassed the $65 million mark globally, split between $59.1 million in domestic revenue and $6.8 million from overseas markets. Not only is this enough for it to overtake DreamWorks' big-budget animated financial failureThe Road to El Dorado domestically, it also...

One Batman: The Animated Series Episode Was First Pitched As A Movie
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

"Batman: The Animated Series" ran for 85 episodes on Fox Kids and maintained impressive quality control throughout. There are very few lumps of coal in this box of diamonds, but some "Batman" episodes do get mentioned again and again as the fan-favorites.

There's the Emmy-winning "Heart of Ice," which forever redefined Mr. Freeze. "Beware The Gray Ghost" featured a heart-melting guest appearance by Adam West as a washed-up film serial star who Bruce Wayne (Kevin Conroy) loved as a child. "Almost Got 'Im" features some of Gotham's worst sitting around a poker table, swapping stories about when they came closest to punching Batman's clock.

Similar to "Almost Got 'Im," the episode "Trial" features many heavy hitter Batman villains. They seize control of Arkham Asylum, capture the investigating Batman, and put him on trial for all the grief he's caused them.

Real Reason Al Pacino Called Star Wars His ‘First Big Mistake’
Image
Imagine a world where Han Solo had a little thick voice, and he carried a gun similar to a gangster with a leaned-in posture. Doesn’t look right, right? However, that would have been the character of Han Solo had Al Pacino not refused the script for Star Wars!

The actor, who talked about his regrets (which he prefers to call ‘mistakes’), talked about turning down the role of Han Solo in the Star Wars franchise, having life lessons learnt the hard way, and more in an interview.

Every Version Of Stephen King's The Long Walk That Didn't Get Made
Image
2025 is already shaping up to be yet another big year for Stephen King fans. With Osgood Perkins' "The Monkey" having come out back in February, the remaining months are paved with big screen adaptations of "The Life of Chuck" and "The Running Man," in addition to a television series based on "The Institute." In case that wasn't enough, it seems especially fitting that "The Long Walk, one of King's bleakest stories, is finally set to hit theaters in September from director Francis Lawrence and "Strange Darling" screenwriter Jt Mollner. Marathons will never be seen the same way again.

The harrowing premise of "The Long Walk" envisions a dystopian future in which a group of young boys volunteer for the titular event in which the winner gets to make a wish of their choosing from an ominous figure known as the Major (Mark Hamill). All they have to do is walk,...

The Long Walk | Trailer for Stephen King adaptation lands
Francis Lawrence in I Am Legend (2007)
Francis Lawrence’s take on Stephen King’s The Long Walk arrives this autumn. Here’s the trailer for the film.

Stephen King fans have been patiently waiting for an adaptation of his novella The Long Walk ever since The Shawshank Redemption director and frequent King collaborator Frank Darabont snapped up the rights years and years ago, with the intention of making it himself.

The film is slated to release in September of this year, with Cooper Hoffman, star of Licorice Pizza taking one of the film’s major parts, while David Jonsson...

‘The Long Walk’ Trailer: Mark Hamill Stars in the Stephen King Thriller
Image
The Long Walk, the first novel Stephen King wrote (but not published), will finally make its way to the big screen on September 12, 2025. Lionsgate just released the first official trailer and it’s brutal, in keeping with the book and film’s subject matter.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Stephen King spoke about the era in which he wrote the book. It was written at the peak of the Vietnam War, but King explained that he didn’t set out to write a political allegory. “You write from your times, so certainly, that was in my mind. But I never thought about it consciously,” said King. “I was writing a kind of a brutal thing. It was hopeless, and just what you write when you’re 19 years old, man. You’re full of beans and you’re full of cynicism, and that’s the way it was.”

The film stars Cooper Hoffman,...

The Real-Life Horrors That Inspired Stephen King's The Long Walk
Image
Prolific horror author Stephen King has written about some pretty nightmarish things over the course of his long career, but one of his earliest works is also among his most brutal. First published under his pseudonym, Richard Bachman, in 1979, "The Long Walk" is a deeply disturbing novel about a dystopian alternate U.S. that holds an annual walking contest with only one winner — the last person walking. "The Long Walk" was later collected in "The Bachman Books" and has since become appreciated as among the author's most impactful works, though it's been notoriously difficult to adapt into a movie or television series. There's been plenty of apt comparisons to Suzanne Collins's "The Hunger Games" novels and their film adaptations, but "The Long Walk" is its own unique and truly nasty beast with its origins in King's personal history.

Director Francis Lawrence, who's helmed every "Hunger Games" movie to date save for the 2012 original,...

The Long Walk Trailer: Mark Hamill Forces Teens To Walk Or Die In Stephen King Adaptation

Filmmaker Francis Lawrence knows a thing or two about gruelling dystopian dramas with kids forced into do-or-die situations – since he’s directed every Hunger Games sequel, plus The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes. Stretch your legs for The Long Walk, an adaptation of Stephen King’s novel (originally published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman), in which a group of teens venture off on – you guessed it – a long walk. If they can just keep going, riches await. But as soon as they stop, they die, and there can only be one victor. Watch the trailer:

The Hunger Games Director's Stephen King Dystopian Thriller Drops Intense First Trailer
Image
The task is simple: walk or die. That's the tagline for the new Stephen King movie, The Long Walk, which has just released its first intense and chilling trailer.

The Long Walk is notable for being the first novel that King ever wrote, having begun it in the mid-1960s during his freshman year at the University of Maine. Ultimately, Carrie ended up being his first published novel, while The Long Walk was eventually released in 1979, as one of King's Richard Bachman books. Based on the trailer, the movie looks to be a pretty faithful adaptation of the dystopian horror novel, although with one interesting difference: Mark Hamill's the Major states that the teenage boys will need to maintain a speed above three miles per hour to avoid receiving a warning, one mile per hour less than the book. Check out the official trailer for The Long Walk below.

After spending years (and years) in development hell, one of Stephen King's earliest and most brutal novels is finally coming to the big screen — and we have proof! Lionsgate has released the first trailer for "The Long Walk," which hits theaters this fall. While King isn't one to pull punches, this is one of his most unflinchingly brutal works, with young men walking to their deaths while the last one standing wins a prize in a post-apocalyptic, grim vision of the future. Check it out for yourself above.

"The Long Walk" is very much akin to King's "Hunger Games," albeit without any YA flair. This is nitty, gritty, and very much R-rated. It perhaps makes sense that Francis Lawrence, known best for his work on "The Hunger Games" movies, is in the director's chair for this one. Lionsgate isn't giving us much by way of the plot, with the...

Cooper Hoffman Tries Not to Trek to His Death in Stephen King’s Dystopian Adaptation ‘The Long Walk’ Trailer
Image
Cooper Hoffman is getting his thriller film debut thanks to two Hollywood staples, Stephen King and Francis Lawrence. “Licorice Pizza” breakout star Hoffman leads the long-awaited film adaptation of King’s first-written novel “The Long Walk,” which he published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. Lawrence of “The Hunger Games” fame directs the feature.

The film centers on a contest in a dystopian America where 100 young men have to walk without stopping; if they pause for too long to rest, they’re killed on the spot. David Jonsson, Garrett Wareing, Tut Nyuot, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang, Roman Griffin Davis, Jordan Gonzalez, Joshua Odjick, and Josh Hamilton play Hoffman’s fellow contestants. Judy Greer and Mark Hamill co-star.

Jt Mollner adapted King’s book, which was originally written in 1979. The film adaptation for “The Long Walk” has been in the works for more than 40 years: George Romero first tried to bring the...

Stephen King Has A Theory Why It Took So Long To Film The Long Walk
Image
The entertainment market is so full of great and not-so-great Stephen King movies that live-action versions of the massively prolific horror maestro's work will no doubt soon count as a subgenre of their own. There are numerous guilty pleasures or otherwise underrated King movies among them, and everyone has their own favorites -- including the writer himself, who has very clear opinions about which King adaptations are the best ones.

Now, another live action version is about to join the ever-expanding Stephen King section in the annals of cinema. "The Long Walk" is one of his older works, which he wrapped up way back in 1967. Published under King's Richard Bachman pseudonym in 1979, the story imagines a dystopian country where an annual, borderline impossible walking contest among representatives of the nation's youth grants its winner a boon from an ominous militant figure, The Major (played in the adaptation by Mark Hamill...

Andor Season 2 Uses The Force To Explain One Major Star Wars Mystery
Image
This post contains spoilers for "Andor."

There are a lot of differences between the burgeoning Rebellion seen throughout the earlier parts of "Andor" and the unified Rebel Alliance glimpsed at the end of 1977's "Star Wars: Episode IV -- A New Hope." Lots of that comes down to size, organization, and military might -- topics that "Andor" spends a great deal of time exploring. But there's another big difference, and it has to do with the Force.

In "A New Hope," the entire Rebellion has a religious undertone. When he sends Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and the other Rebel pilots off to face the Death Star, General Dodonna (Alex McCrindle) gives them the classic Jedi farewell, "May the Force be with you." Leia (Carrie Fisher) does the same at times while serving as one of the Alliance's primary leaders. And yet, in "Andor," that spiritual essence of the Rebellion...

Of the many Stephen King adaptations that are releasing this year on both the big and small screens, perhaps none is grittier than The Long Walk. Get a first look at The Long Walk with newly released images showcasing an unrecognizable Mark Hamill
Image
Last year, an adaptation of the Stephen King novel The Long Walk (which was, like The Running Man and Thinner, published under the pen name Richard Bachman) went into production, with director Francis Lawrence. An adaptation of The Long Walk has been trudging through development hell for decades. At one point, the rights were in the hands of Frank Darabont, who made the King adaptations The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and The Mist. Then the rights passed over to New Line Cinema, where Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark director André Øvredal was hired to direct the film from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt, whose credits include the two most recent Scream movies.

Last month, Francis Lawrence, Mark Hamill and star David Jonsson were all present for the Lionsgate panel at CinemaCon. A trailer was shown that our own Chris Bumbray (who was in attendance) called “insanely intense.

It has beaten Den of Thieves: Panterra and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith 20th Anniversary re-release to achieve this notable at this year’s highest-grosser list. One of the franchise’s biggest fans is actress Kaley Cuoco, best known for her role in the sitcom The Big Bang Theory. New Biblical Movie Crosses Major Global Box Office Milestone On 2025 Chart
Image
While they are not always popular in the mainstream, faith-based movies have the potential to do well at the box office. Some of these titles are overtly religious, such as the 2024 Alan Ritchson drama Ordinary Angels. Other titles that get looped in the faith-based subcategory are less overtly God-infused but still resonate with Christian messaging. One such success is Sound of Freedom, a 2023 movie about a government agent who attempts to rescue children from child traffickers. Sound of Freedom made a remarkable $250.5 million at the worldwide box office.

2025 has already been strong for Christian-centric works. Episodes of the Biblical series The Chosen: Last Supper were released in theaters and performed remarkably well, given that they were also slated to hit the small screen. These episodes ended up making just shy of $25 million worldwide, makingThe Chosen the no. 30 highest-grossing title at the 2025 box office. Now, another faith-based title is succeeding at the box office,...

How May the 4th Became Known as Star Wars Day and How It’s Being Celebrated
Image
It didn’t begin a long time ago or in a galaxy far far away, but every May 4 it feels like images, memes and promotional deals involving Star Wars have an inescapable gravity.

May 4 — or May the 4th, as fans say — has evolved over the years into Star Wars Day, an informal holiday celebrating the space epic and its surrounding franchise.

What is Star Wars Day?

Star Wars Day was created by fans as a sly nod to one of the films’ most popular catchphrases, “May the force be with you.” Get it? Good, now May the 4th be with you, too.

It’s not an official holiday but has become so well-known that even former President Joe Biden marked it last year when Star Wars actor Mark Hamill dropped by the White House a day beforehand. This year, the Trump administration marked the occasion with a Star Wars-themed meme.

White House Releases Yet Another AI-Generated Image Of Trump — This Time As A Jacked Sith Lord
Image
The White House seems to be continuing its affinity for artificial intelligence-generated imagery depicting Donald Trump in bizarre and deifying themes, from a falsified photo of him as a would-be pope to now a hunk-ified Sith lord from Star Wars (none of these words are in the Bible).

“Happy May the 4th to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics who are fighting so hard to to bring Sith Lords, Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners, & well known Ms-13 Gang Members, back into our Galaxy. You’re not the Rebellion—you’re the Empire. May the 4th be with you,” the official account captioned the photo — featuring Trump wielding a lightsaber in front of dual eagles and American flags — on X.

Naturally, the photo generated a flurry of mixed responses, with some commenters pointing to the irony of the usage of a red lightsaber, a weapon in the original Star Wars franchise...

‘The King of Kings’ Is Poised Overtake One of DreamWorks’ Biggest Global Box Office Bombs
Image
Considering how well Christian-themed movies have done in recent months, Mel Gibson may be relieved about the box office prospects of his planned sequel to The Passion of the Christ. The animated film The King of Kings exceeded all expectations in its box office run, which was timed around the Easter holidays. It has emerged as the highest-grossing Korean production in domestic box office history — yes, it's a Korean production — while earning over four times its reported budget at the global box office.

With $57 million domestically and over $6 million from overseas markets, The King of Kings has generated nearly $64 million worldwide so far. Produced on a reported budget of $15 million, the religious-themed film is around $1 million shy of passing the lifetime global haul of The Road to El Dorado, a big-budget DreamWorks animated film that tanked upon release in the year 2000, but has developed a cult following. In fact, The King of Kings...
