The Cannes Film Festival is underway, and while the Marché Du Film is as booming as ever with exciting packages of future films, there are plenty of titles playing in competition or in the Cannes sidebars that could make a big splash at the box office or the awards season race for the right buyer. Here are the 13 films we predicted ahead of the festival could find homes quickly. We’ll update the below list with all the acquisitions as they come in.

She could go home, or she could seek new adventures and continue her crime-solving spree. There will come a time where she will have to ask herself if she’s in it for the glory of being right or the benevolence of it all.

Kevin Costner has always been candid with his opinions regarding his films. An accomplished filmmaker himself, the 70-year-old knew it from the first reading that his critically acclaimed movie Field of Dreams would be a cinematic success.
Now, more than 36 years after its release, Field of Dreams boasts an enviable score on Rotten Tomatoes. The Phil Alden Robinson directorial has garnered a respectable score of 7.5 on IMDb as well.
While there is seldom a way to ensure a film’s success, Costner once revealed that he was sure of the film the moment he read the script. The mystical elements and dream sequences of Field of Dreams won over the Oscar winner, who once claimed that he felt like he was harboring a secret when he realized the film would be a hit.

Now that she’s away from the mob, Charlie (Natasha Lyonne) can finally build her life on her own. However, knowing Charlie, she finds herself roped into absurd schemes through no fault of her own. “The Taste of Human Blood” is one of those episodes, with plenty of absurdity hanging over it. Luckily, it’s got the TV vets and comedic actors to pull off the ridiculous premise with brilliant execution. Kumail Nanjiani and Gaby Hoffman lead a fun ensemble this time around.

Lynne Ramsey first turned heads in Cannes with her stunning 1999 feature debut Ratcatcher, about a 12-year-old boy growing up in poverty in the Glasgow housing projects. “For Worse” marks Amy Landecker’s first turn behind the camera in a narrative feature, and she wears multiple hats—as writer, director and lead actor—with deliberate economy. Story kicks off when Lauren, a recently divorced and sober Los Angeles mother, trades her real-estate routine for an experimental commercials acting class. That choice functions as the film’s inciting incident, setting her on a path that threads personal reinvention through ensemble comedy.
Landecker structures the screenplay around two key phases: the claustrophobic intimacy of acting exercises and the sprawling chaos of a Palm Springs wedding. Each sequence builds on the one before, so that the narrative feels like a tight spiral rather than a series of disconnected gags. Lauren’s arc hinges on three narrative questions: Can she reclaim desire after motherhood? Will her midlife vulnerabilities yield genuine connection? And can a woman of her age hold her own among twenty-somethings without sacrificing authenticity?...

Charlie Cale, the human truth detector, is back for more mysteries in Season 2 of “Poker Face,” which premiered on Peacock with three episodes on Thursday. Natasha Lyonne returns in her Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated role.
The series, from “Knives Out” director Rian Johnson, follows Charlie’s off-the-grid adventures as she tries to stay one step ahead of the mobsters who want her dead. In classic “Columbo” or “Murder, She Wrote,” style, a murder just happens to occur wherever she goes.
This season boasts a tremendous who’s who of guest stars, kicking off off with “Wicked” star Cynthia Erivo. We’ll also see Lyonne reunited with her “But I’m a Cheerleader” costar, Melanie Lynskey of “Yellowjackets.”

Sleuths, by and large, aren’t given the luxury of lying low. Worn-down beat detectives are always getting called to the next crime scene. Part-time investigators can’t resist a femme fatale’s desperate pleas (or ample pocketbook). But even when you set aside their professional obligations, puzzle-solvers usually don’t know what to do with themselves when the game is not yet afoot. Typically, gumshoes crack cases by compulsion.
Take Rian Johnson’s last “Knives Out” mystery: At the start of “Glass Onion,” Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) has grown frustrated by the pandemic’s stultifying effect on real-world brainteasers. With too much time off (and too much time moping in the tub), he thinks he’s going insane. He’s tried reading books, he’s tried playing games, he’s even enlisted help from a few similarly-minded peers (including Angela Lansbury and “Poker Face” star Natasha Lyonne). But nothing helps.

Poker Face is going big for the 2025 Emmys.
Gold Derby has confirmed that the Peacock comedy is submitting 14 different actors for the second season.
Natasha Lyonne, who plays human lie detector Charlie Cale, will be submitted in Best Comedy Actress. She was nominated in this category twice before: once for the show's first season in 2023 and in 2019 for Russian Doll. Lyonne has earned a total of five career Emmy nominations, including recognition for writing and producing Russian Doll and for her guest performance on Orange Is the New Black in 2014.
Speaking of guest stars, Poker Face is packed with them. As Lyonne's Charlie continues her cross-country journey — dodging mobsters in her trusty Plymouth Barracuda — she encounters mysteries at every stop. Along the way, she meets a host of intriguing characters brought to life by some very familiar faces.
Among them are three-time Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo, who plays quintuplets in the Season 2 premiere.

Recently nominated for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Limited Series by the Gotham TV Awards, “Adolescence” star Steven Graham is getting even further praise, and from “The Boss” himself. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast for a recent interview, rock and roll legend Bruce Springsteen offered his appreciation for Graham’s performance in the upcoming biopic “Deliver Us from Nowhere.”
“Stephen Graham plays my father, and he’s amazing,” said Springsteen. He added that he thinks “fans will enjoy it” and that it basically covers the time period during the early 1980s when he was “putting the ‘Nebraska’ record together and other things” he was dealing with at that time in his life and career. Though he has seen the film, he was wary to reveal further details as, much like his own career, he prefers it maintains its mystique.

Plot: Poker Face is a mystery-of-the-week series following Natasha Lyonne’s Charlie, who has an extraordinary ability to determine when someone is lying. She hits the road with her Plymouth Barracuda and with every stop encounters a new cast of characters and strange crimes she can’t help but solve.
Review: While Rian Johnson revived the whodunit on the big screen with Knives Out and the Netflix sequel Glass Onion, his charmingly retro small-screen series Poker Face has truly proven its worth in the tried-and-true genre. The overarching narrative of the first season was engaging, but the standalone mysteries boasting famous guest stars turned Poker Face into must-watch programming. Heists and war movies are two of the most popular genres in cinema history. So, what happens when you mix them together, and throw in Challengers star Josh O'Connor for good measure? You get The Mastermind, the new movie directed by Kelly Reichardt (First Cow). The film is set to make its debut at this year's Cannes Film Festival (which takes place from May 13 to 24), and the first look at the Vietnam War heist film has just been released.
Deadline recently released the first official look at Josh O'Connor and Alana Haim in The Mastermind. Kelly Reichardt wrote and directed the upcoming film, which follows an art thief looking to score big in the middle of the Vietnam War. Following its debut at Cannes, The Mastermind is being distributed by Mubi. Expect a limited theatrical release, before the movie lands on the Mubi streaming service. It will be a challenge to find a 2025 film that Josh O’Connor is not in. The “Challengers” breakout star is leading the third “Knives Out” feature (all we know is that he’s playing a priest), plus is starring alongside Paul Mescal in “The History Of Sound” and will be in Steven Spielberg’s next project about UFOs. First, though, O’Connor is starring in Kelly Reichardt’s latest, “The Mastermind.”
The film will debut in competition at Cannes. Oliver Hermanus’ “The History Of Sound” will also be in the main competition so O’Connor has two shots at being in a Palme d’Or winner this year.
For “The Mastermind,” O’Connor plays Jb Mooney, an unemployed carpenter who becomes an aspiring amateur art thief. The only issue is that Jb’s first big heist goes haywire, leading him to confront his life choices. The film is set in rural Massachusetts in the 1970s.

For Bruce Springsteen, the making of the upcoming biographical film Deliver Me From Nowhere — in which Jeremy Allen White portrays the legendary musician — was more than just a cinematic endeavor. It was an emotional journey.
The 20-time Grammy winner had high praise for White’s performance, calling it “tremendous.”
“Jeremy had his own process and really knew what he was doing and worked very hard to inhabit the character that he was playing. He is tremendous,” Springsteen said.
The movie, from director Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart), focuses on the recording of Springsteen’s 1982 album Nebraska and is based on Deliver Me From Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen's "Nebraska" by Warren Zanes.
During an FYC event on Monday for his documentary Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, the singer revealed what it was like to visit the Deliver Me From Nowhere set.

Among the lineup for the Cannes Film Festival’s 78th edition are some big names from Hollywood and global cinema. We already knew that Tom Cruise will light the fuse on Paramount/Skydance’s Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning on May 14 out of competition, while there was plenty of speculation that Scarlett Johansson would have a pair of movies on the Croisette. The latter has now been confirmed with Johansson’s directorial debut Eleanor the Great set for Un Certain Regard, and her acting reteam with Wes Anderson in his latest, The Phoenician Scheme, in Competition. Also confirmed is Ari Aster’s Eddington with Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal and Emma Stone.
Many more stars are potentially in store now that the bulk of the official selection has been revealed. Not everyone is confirmed to attend the Riviera shindig, but here’s a look at some of the possibilities.

If you’re not already obsessed with Poker Face, you’ve got time to catch up before Season 2 drops, and trust me, you’ll want to. The show follows Charlie Cale, played by the always iconic Natasha Lyonne, a human lie detector with zero filters, a messy past, and a habit of stumbling into murder scenes like it’s her full-time job. She’s not a cop, not a private eye, but just a woman on the run with a beat-up car, a killer sense of intuition, and the world’s worst luck when it comes to staying out of trouble.
Season 1 had major Columbo energy with a modern twist. Each episode was its own little mystery movie, with Charlie solving a fresh murder in a new town while dodging the rich and shady people trying to take her out.

Everybody's got a hungry heart for more of Jeremy Allen White playing Bruce Springsteen, and Disney is here to deliver at CinemaCon. During the Mouse House's two-hour presentation on Thursday, a new sizzle reel was shared exclusively to attendees that shed some more light on the upcoming biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere, about The Boss's journey to creating his stripped-down sixth album, Nebraska. Collider's Britta DeVore was seated at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for the presentation of the sneak peek and received a new look at The Bear star amid the pivotal moment in his musical career.
While we've already seen White dressed as the spitting image of the "Born in the U.S.A." singer, the reel goes much deeper.
Bruce is recording on his own at the start of the teaser, happy and content to be doing the work by himself before he’s pulled into the big game.

He came to spend the 1990s as a writer-for-hire churning out increasingly bland and impersonal kids’ movies—including...

Dan Stevens, the star of films like The Guest, Beauty and the Beast and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, recently appeared in the new political thriller series, Zero Day. Yes, Green is a fictional version of every loudmouth who makes money in today's digital landscape by criticizing political leaders and creating conspiracy theories out of nothing.
It's not exactly a secret that the character is inspired by a real cultural phenomenon, and Stevens fully agrees with that. In Netflix's Zero Day, the United States faces an unprecedented cyberattack. There are thousands of casualties, and the government forms a commission that will help in finding some answers to prevent another major attack. As former President George Mullen leads the...
