[Warning: The following story contains spoilers about Season 1 of “Fallout.”]
Aaron Moten was not exactly familiar with “Fallout,” the game, when “Fallout,” the TV show, came to him. “I think if I had seen a poster, if I had seen a photograph of the T-60 — the big power armor suit — I would’ve recognized it to be ‘Fallout,’ but yeah, totally new to me,” he tells Gold Derby (watch the exclusive video interview above). “The world, the deep dive, if you will.”
The actor did a deep dive into gamers and Twitch streamers to prep for his audition, but after landing the part of Maximus, he made a conscious choice not to play the game. “My job as an actor always feels like bringing a human element to something. I felt that if I jumped into the video game, I think I’d be overly concerned with other things happening on set than what I need to be concerned with,...

Though “Fallout” has not officially been renewed by Prime Video for a second season, executive producer Jonathan Nolan and co-showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner said they already have ideas ready to go for the next installment of the video game adaptation — including a couple of elements game fans will find incredibly exciting.
Nolan, who has experience crafting mythology-dense serialized storytelling across multiple seasons with HBO’s “Westworld,” said they’ve been talking about the future of “Fallout” since their earliest discussions while still focusing on making the best Season 1 they could.
“The challenge, especially with television, is in success, the hope that you get to go again. But I think the reality is your best strategy is to concentrate on making a terrific season and television and if there’s an opportunity to keep going, and there’s sufficient interest, then you get a chance to keep going,” Nolan...

It may be a mystery to famed director David Lynch that Patrick Stewart was an acclaimed actor when the latter showed up on the set of his 1984 adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune.
Well, sometimes directors have a clear vision of the ideal actor for a role, while other times, a happy accident can result in unexpected greatness. Such was the case with Lynch’s original 1984 Dune adaptation, in which he erroneously cast Patrick Stewart in a role that was meant for someone else.
Yes, Stewart, 83, inadvertently obtained the role of Gurney Halleck. In the process of replacing Aldo Ray at the eleventh hour, the director erroneously cast another Patrick Stewart.
David Lynch’s Dune 1984
Aside from being a financial disaster and receiving negative reviews, the film has developed a cult following over the years, and this intriguing casting mishap is just one of the many oddball tales surrounding its creation.

Walton Goggins, in a gruesome starring role in Prime Video’s apocalyptic sci-fi series Fallout, said he knew he knew he was in for “an intense experience” having to transform every day on set into The Ghoul, a post-human character with melting flesh, a cowboy persona and some semblance of his humanity still left.
But at Saturday’s Deadline Contenders Television panel, the perennial character actor — beaming in from overseas, where he is shooting The White Lotus — said the task of transformation proved to be “extremely anxiety provoking” at first. He had to figure out how to express himself under a thin layer of sweat-inducing facial prosthesis designed to make him look almost skeletal and how to be a walking, wisecracking horror show with a retainer in his mouth to simulate the absence of teeth.

Walton Goggins has been trending among fans on social media with his slick performance as the Ghoul in the first season of Amazon Prime Video’s Fallout. Anyone privy to his works like The Shield, Justified, and The Righteous Gemstones may agree that Goggins’ recognition comes a little late in his career. The Hateful Eight actor plays a disfigured post-apocalyptic character in Fallout. However, he teased his very different pre-apocalyptic form in an interview.

[Editor’s Note: The following article contains spoilers for Prime Video’s “Fallout,” including the finale.]
After eight episodes of flashbacks and intertwined perilous adventures, Prime Video’s “Fallout” reaches its climactic conclusion, with the door wide open to keep going. Set in the sprawling and fruitful world of Bethesda Softworks’ popular video game series, Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner’s dystopian drama brings Season 1 to a head in the final episode with a dizzying number of revelations.
Most of those twists come back to Vault-Tec, the organization behind nuclear fallout shelters like Lucy’s (Ella Purnell). Vault-Tec controls the vault population by assigning old executives as Overseers; Vault-Tec destroyed Shady Sands in order to maintain supremacy; Vault-Tec controls the Brotherhood of Steel; and most damning of all, Cooper’s past (Walton Goggins) reveals that Vault-Tec may have even dropped the first bomb.

Walton Goggins is no stranger to meaty roles he can make his own, and now the Emmy-nominated “Justified” actor is sinking his teeth into Amazon’s highly anticipated “Fallout,” an adaptation of the popular video game from “Westworld” duo Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. In the darkly funny post-apocalyptic series, which is now streaming on Prime Video, Goggins pulls double duty as The Ghoul, a disfigured, centuries-old immortal cowboy who’s been stripped of all his humanity, and Cooper Howard, the Hollywood actor he was before the bombs fell. But while Goggins often steals the show — a welcome habit at this point — it’s Ella Purnell’s Lucy who anchors the narrative. Raised in the underground fallout shelters known as Vaults, Lucy travels to the irradiated surface to search for her missing father (Kyle MacLachlan), and she’s shocked to discover a hyper-violent wasteland largely at odds with her inherently optimistic disposition,...

Fallout is one of the most iconic franchises when it comes to showing a post-apocalyptic world. Through eight episodes, we follow Lucy (Ella Purnell), Maximus (Aaron Moten), and The Ghoul/Cooper Howard (Walton Goggins) as they uncover the mysteries of Vault-Tec and the Wastelanders who attacked Vault 33 at the start of the season. While they initially set out on their own quests, their paths all converge by the end, as a MacGuffin hunt turns into something much bigger that will affect the future of the Fallout series for years to come.

In keeping with CinemaCon tradition, Disney this afternoon treated attendees to the first 35 minutes of its latest Pixar movie; this year being Inside Out 2.
The sequel to the 2015 pic brings viewers back into the mind of the now-teenage Riley (Kensington Tallman) as her emotions try to keep up with her new feelings. And while Pixar has gotten the short end of the stick during the pandemic with its movies Soul, Luca and Turning Red being sent to Disney+ and Lightyear shunned by Toy Story purists, Inside Out 2 had the Colosseum in stitches.
It was punctuated by the humor of Amy Poehler and Lewis Black, along with Maya Hawke’s scene-stealing turn as the antagonist Anxiety, who takes over the soul of young teen Riley from the feelings of Joy, Anger, Sadness and Fear. Let’s also not forget about Envy (Ayo Edebiri), who is in cahoots with Anxiety for the spirit of Riley.

This post contains spoilers for Prime Video's "Fallout."
A ravaged post-apocalyptic wasteland, like the one in the "Fallout" video game franchise, is like a minefield waiting to explode. Treacherous terrains, radioactive water bodies, aggressive wastelanders, and mutated insects are just some of the dangers that await any explorer, and "Fallout" relies on one in-game mechanic to immerse players into its dynamic open worlds. A Pip-Boy, short for Personal Information Processor, acts as a diegetic tool in every "Fallout" title, where everything from inventory management to a specialized targeting combat system (known as V.A.T.S) is embedded within this portable wrist computer. Although Pip-Boys were originally issued to vault dwellers, their usage spread to the surface, where several Free State inhabitants relied on them for survival and navigation. Although the mechanics of the Pip-Boy are easy to understand within the confines of the "Fallout" games, how do these...

Lucy (Ella Purnell) has only been outside the relative safety of her vault for a few hours before the young, wide-eyed school teacher — who specializes in American History “with a focus on ethics!” — is attacked by a cockroach the size of an adult corgi. Technically, she’s spared the hand-to-leg combat thanks to an actual dog (a German Shepherd), who jumps out of the shadows, chomps down on the mutant insect, and makes a meal of the squealing, writhing creature. But the interaction is nonetheless indication of her predicament. Lucy, who’s lived her entire life in an underground society dictated by laws, common goals, and good manners, isn’t prepared to be out in this anarchic desert wasteland. Her bright blue jumpsuit may shield her from the radiation, but it won’t protect her from the parasites ready to pounce as soon as she lets down her guard.
So Lucy has a choice,...

The much anticipated Prime Video series adaptation of the popular RPG video game series Fallout is finally here and I am so happy to bring you the good news that it’s great. While I am not familiar with the video game, I can say this about the series it’s unique, visually satisfying, and has a good enough story to keep you interested.
Fallout is a dystopian post-apocalyptic series created by Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet. The Prime Video series shows us the aftermath of a nuclear war that decimated the Earth. 219 years later, we follow the story of a young woman Lucy who ventures out of her ideal life as a vault dweller to save her kidnapped father and comes face to face with a dangerous world outside of the vaults.

This post contains spoilers for Prime Video's "Fallout."
The ingenuity of the "Fallout" video games extends beyond their post-apocalyptic worldbuilding and snazzy combat mechanics — they are role-playing experiences that feel intuitive, bizarre, and challenging all at once. To capture these medium-specific idiosyncrasies in a television adaptation of a beloved franchise is a tall order, and Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan's "Fallout" understands what it means to inhabit such a broken, retrofuturist society. The end of the first season of "Fallout" is also the beginning, as it promises a new world and sets the stage for chaos and order, with the sway of the pendulum suspended until darker truths emerge. For franchise enthusiasts, it is a familiar story reinvented in meaningful, riveting ways. For newcomers, it is an intriguing post-apocalyptic setting that oscillates between gleeful sarcasm and heartbreaking pathos.

Walton Goggins is well-known for playing unusual characters and nailing them. His latest role as the noseless Ghoul adds another feather to his cap. Goggins plays the character of Cooper Howard, who is originally a Hollywood cowboy-for-hire. He is transformed into a centuries-old mutant known as The Ghoul by a nuclear apocalypse. The Ghoul is seemingly undying in Fallout.

Fockers who? Meet “The Zweiflers” instead: Brand new winners of Canneseries.
Created and showrun by David Hadda, the show picked up multiple awards at the French TV fest on Wednesday, including best series and music. Selected as a Variety Hot Pick earlier this month, “it’s destined to be billed as a Jewish ‘Succession’ set in contemporary Germany, with all the baggage that can bring to the table, Variety wrote.
That being said, its creator had another dysfunctional family on his mind.
“My biggest influence was ‘The Sopranos’ and I always said I wanted to do a Jewish ‘Sopranos’! The idea was to change the narrative from the victims’ perspective in Germany to a Jewish patriarch and Holocaust survivor who had lost everything – and everyone, and then came back to rebuild his life. That was empowering for me,” said Hadda.

This Fallout review contains no spoilers.
Prime Video’s TV adaptation of Fallout does something the games in the legendary franchise never have—put storytelling above all else. The show does lovingly recreate the nuclear Wasteland in a way that stays faithful to the series, but the story is all-new and unexpectedly thought-provoking. The TV characters are far more complex than their video game counterparts as well, though to be fair they do have the advantage of not having to stand unnaturally still while looking straight into the camera whenever they have something to say.
One of our main protagonists is Cooper Howard (the great Walton Goggins), a washed-up Western star who we meet in cowboy garb twirling his lasso at a kids’ birthday party in ‘50s Los Angeles to make ends meet. He’s taken his daughter to work, and suddenly to her horror, she sees a mushroom cloud...

Plot: Based on one of the greatest video game series of all time, Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind — and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird and highly violent universe waiting for them.

I was hooked, and in the decades since, I have waited patiently for someone to deliver a worthy adaptation. As video...

Many hardcore gamers were worried about the Fallout adaptation. It didn’t help that the first season of Halo was an unmitigated disaster. However, I am here to tell you that Fallout is big, bold, and badass. Simply put, Fallout makes anything The Boys have done look like child’s play.
Led by a totally rad and wicked performance from Walter Goggins, Fallout has everything you could want in a series. The new Prime Video series has some intense and hair-raising action, a well-rounded and intriguing mystery, and a dark sense of humor that is unparalleled in today’s standard television fare.

The big and small screens are stuffed full of post-apocalyptic adventures, yet despite that cluttered landscape, few shows and films stick out to offer something unique for viewers. However, in “Fallout” for Prime Video, a thrilling adaptation of the beloved video game series, creators Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner present an off-kilter and fascinating look at humanity in the 23rd century.
“Fallout” begins at the end. The eight-episode series opens in picturesque America sometime in the future. It has reverted to the texture of a glossier post-racial 1955. Cooper Howard (Walton Goggins), an actor known for starring in Westerns, is the entertainment at a children’s party for an affluent family. As he packs his belongings, his young daughter Janey (Teagan Meredith) points outward toward the Los Angeles skyline just as a nuclear bomb explodes on the horizon. After a particularly harrowing setback to his mission in The Fallout, the new series from Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy (Westworld), a bounty hunter known as The Ghoul (Walton Goggins) makes the executive decision to change course entirely. Although his less experienced traveling companion/prisoner protests, The Ghoul knows better. “The wasteland’s got its own golden rule,” he snarls. “Thou shalt get sidetracked by bullshit every time.”
That most of Prime Video’s Fallout consists of getting sidetracked by bullshit is simultaneously one of its main charms and one of its most frustrating flaws. At its liveliest, the sci-fi adventure captures the fun of simply getting to explore a strange new world, meeting colorful characters and going down mysterious rabbit holes. But the lack of urgency also means its eight hours take an awfully long time to get where it’s going.

A stark wooden cross stands in a moonlit cemetery in the opening episode of Fallout, Amazon’s eccentric and capacious adaptation of the video game series. From each arm hangs an IV bag that feeds a yellow liquid into a grave. There lies the body of Cooper Howard (Walton Goggins), an erstwhile cowboy who struck gold as a western film star before being blacklisted for alleged communist affiliations. Cooper lived in a distinctively retro-futurist United States. In this alternate universe, the 2070s were marked by escalating war between America and China and seemingly stuck in the 1950s, with black-and-white TVs and classic cars—plus robots that helped apron-clad homemakers around the house. Then the bombs fell, in a bout of mutually assured destruction that eradicated almost all life on Earth.
More than 200 years after the nuclear calamity, a trio of wary mercenaries dig up Cooper’s tomb and find a coffin chained shut.

Since 1997, the Fallout franchise of video games has captivated hordes of RPG fans with its original setting, political edginess, and that gloriously nostalgic yet contextually bleak soundtrack. So how do you translate all of that into a high-budget, high-octane streaming series that welcomes newbies to this hyper-specific world and atmosphere, and comes from the creators of Westworld, no less?
Well for starters, it helps to cast Walton Goggins.

A few days ago, Legendary Entertainment revealed that Denis Villeneuve has started with the development work for Dune 3, aka Dune Messiah. The sequel, Dune 2, received a great response from the audience worldwide. The sci-fi fantasy film is based on Frank Herbert’s Dune movies. It stars Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Florence Pugh, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Austin Butler and others.
In Denis Villeneuve’s Dune movies, Timothee Chalamet plays Paul Atreides. When the movie was announced a few years ago, everyone was worried that it would be a good watch. In 1984, David Lynch also made a movie based on Frank’s novel. However, the film performed poorly at the box office, and even the audience wasn’t happy with Lynch’s adaptation.

David Lynch and Mark Frost’s iconic “Twin Peaks” surreal series had to be pulled back down to earth by network executives, especially when it came to providing a resolution for the central mystery.
The beloved series aired on ABC from April 1990 to June 1991; the show was later resurrected by Showtime with 2017’s “Twin Peaks: The Return.” Prequel film “Fire Walk With Me” centered around the events prior to “Twin Peaks,” which opens with high school character Laura Palmer’s murder.
According to co-creator Frost, ABC threatened to “stop sending us money” for production if Season 2 did not provide some resolution to Laura Palmer’s killing. Frost told Variety that Lynch would ideally have preferred for the mystery to “go on forever.”
“We literally had a gun to our head from the network,” Frost said. “As I recall, they were just going to stop sending us money if we didn’t deliver this.
