Kevin Bacon Returns To ‘Footloose’ High School On Film’s 40th Anniversary Following Student Campaign
It’s been 40 years since Footloose was released, and Kevin Bacon returned to the high school where the musical drama was filmed.
“Go Lions! Here we are on this beautiful, beautiful spot on this beautiful, beautiful day,” Bacon said, according to ABC4. “It’s been a long time – 40 years – that just blows my mind, you know. Things look a little different around here. I’d say the thing that looks the most different is me.”
Payson High School in Utah was one of the film locations of Footloose, and Bacon made an appearance on Saturday after the students campaigned for the actor to attend their prom.
“You were all just tireless. Unrelenting … You talked me into it,” Bacon said. “I think it’s great to see that kind of commitment to anything. I also think that it’s amazing the power that this movie has had to just kind of bring people together,...

Taylor Sheridan has had his hands full with two incredibly demanding shows. Both Yellowstone and the Mayor of Kingstown have some of the most talented actors and actresses. With the work and dedication that has gone into the making of the shows, there is no doubt that the fanbase is just as strong.
It takes a great amount of understanding to perfect shows and the characters within them, something that can be tampered with because of divided attention.
Taylor Sheridan created and acted in Yellowstone
To counter such a problem, there are many ways. Whether it goes to smaller levels such as focus exercises or simply vigorous practice. Sometimes, however, it can go so far as to leave one project for another.

After creating the critically acclaimed western series Yellowstone, Taylor Sheridan teamed up with actor Hugh Dillon to write his next big show, Mayor Of Kingstown, starring Jeremy Renner in the lead. After gaining a lot of success with fans and critics, the Paramount series has now been renewed for a 3rd season which will air in June 2024.

Dillon, who acted in Yellowstone as well as in this thriller drama, spoke extensively about his collaboration with Sheridan and how the Veronica Mars actor’s mentorship guided him to pursue his love for writing. He also addressed the casting choices made by his co-creator, especially with regard to one actor who perfectly fit the bill as a chilling antagonist.

Kevin Bacon, dancing away, in 4K? Footloose is coming to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in the UK, it’s been confirmed.
Paramount Pictures is wasting little time sorting new catalogue releases for the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format in 2024, with the news that the 1980s hit Footloose is heading to the format.
Already confirmed in America, a UK release has now been earmarked for February 12th 2024, and the film has gone up for order now. You can find it here.
Initially, it’s only available as a Steelbook release, although it’s expected that a regular 4K disc package isn’t far away. It’s the original film, incidentally, that’s getting the release, and not the remake.
Update: The regular, cheaper release is now confirmed for 13th May 2024. You can find it here.
Kevin Bacon, Lori Singer, Dianne Wiest and John Lithgow thus take the lead roles here, with Herbert Ross behind the camera.

Dianne Wiest has an impressionable filmography, one that perfectly displays her talent and range as an actress. Mayor of Kingstown happens to be only one of those many impressive films and shows she has worked in. However, that doesn’t mean in the slightest that she didn’t give anything and everything for the role.

Christopher Durang, one of American’s most acclaimed and accomplished playwrights whose works like Beyond Therapy, Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All For You and the Tony-winning Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike were as incisive as they were absurdly comic, died Tuesday night at his home in Pipersville, Pa., in Bucks County. He was 75.
His agent, Patrick Herold, confirmed that Durang died as a result complications of his 2016 diagnosis with logopenic primary progressive aphasia (Ppa), a form of Alzheimer’s disease that impedes the ability to process language. He remained out of the public spotlight since his condition was made public in 2022. In February, New York’s Dramatists Guild announced that the playwright would receive its 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award on May 6, placing Durang on a prestigious roster alongside such past awardees as John Guare, Stephen Sondheim and Arthur Miller.

This year’s races for Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress were over before they started. Robert Downey Jr. in “Oppenheimer” and Da’Vine Joy Randolph in “The Holdovers” took leads in the Gold Derby odds in their respective categories early in the season. They both went on to pick up Golden Globe, Critics Choice, BAFTA and SAG Awards. By the time the Oscars rolled around, there was a “near zero” chance of either of them losing.
In contrast, the lead acting contests provided considerably more suspense. Bradley Cooper in “Maestro,” Paul Giamatti in “The Holdovers” and Cillian Murphy in “Oppenheimer” were all looking strong at different point in the derby, before Murphy really exploded and ultimately won the Best Actor Oscar. And Lily Gladstone in “Killers of the Flower Moon” and Emma Stone in “Poor Things” kept trading the top spot in the Best Actress odds. Gladstone finally reclaimed...

At the inaugural Academy Awards in 1929, native Pennsylvanian Janet Gaynor made history as the first American-born performer to win an Oscar by taking the Best Actress prize for her body of work in “7th Heaven,” “Street Angel,” and “Sunrise.” Over the subsequent 95 years, 215 more thespians originating from the United States won the academy’s favor, meaning the country has now produced 68.1% of all individual acting Oscar recipients. Considering the last decade alone, the rate of such winners is even higher, at 70.3%.
At this point, 96.8% of American-born acting Oscar victors have hailed from one of 34 actual states. Of those constituting the remainder, three originated from the federal District of Columbia, while four were born in the territory of Puerto Rico. New York (home to 49 winners) is the most common birth state among the entire group, followed by California (34), Illinois (13), Massachusetts (11), and Pennsylvania (11).

Among the various distinctions “Everything Everywhere All at Once” incurred by winning seven awards at the 95th Oscars was becoming the first film in a dozen years (and ninth overall) to conquer both supporting acting categories. This rare occurrence involved Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis preventing their respective “The Banshees of Inisherin” competitors from accomplishing the same goal, as the sets of featured nominees from “Belfast” and “The Power of the Dog” had both failed to do one year earlier. Now, two more pairs of cast mates – who happen to hail from the two highest-grossing live action movies of 2023 – are gunning for entry into this exclusive club.

Producer-director Mike Nichols and writer Elaine May had adapted the film from the French stage farce La Cage Aux Folles, moving the story of a gay couple who own a nightclub in Saint-Tropez to Miami, where Robin Williams and Nathan Lane, as Armand and Albert Goldman, become increasingly stressed out when Armand’s son, Val (Dan Futterman), comes to visit with his fiancée (Calista Flockhart) and her ultraconservative parents. The cast is rounded out by Hank Azaria as the Goldmans’ housekeeper, Christine Baranski as Val’s mother and Gene Hackman and Dianne Wiest as Republican Sen.

Mayor of Kingstown looks to continue its run into Season 3, with a new release update teasing when that new season could come to Paramount+.
Jeremy Renner and Dianne Wiest take the spotlight amongst the cast of Mayor of Kingstown, centered on a fictional town in the business of incarceration as the story highlights themes like systemic racism, corruption, and injustice.
While critics largely panned the first two seasons with average Rotten Tomatoes scores of 35% (Season 1) and 50% (Season 2), fans have been much more complimentary of the show's efforts as a thrilling drama even with its gloomy plot threads.

Piper Laurie, the three-time Oscar-nominated actress known for her performances in The Hustler and Carrie and for her outlandish two-character, two-gender turn on the original Twin Peaks, died Saturday morning in Los Angeles. She was 91.
Laurie had not been well for some time, her rep, Marion Rosenberg, told The Hollywood Reporter.
An Emmy winner who was nominated nine times during her career, Laurie spent three years as a child in a sanatorium, broke free from her original contract at Universal Pictures, once went 15 years without making a movie and starred in the original production — for live television — of Days of Wine and Roses.
In Learning to Live Out Loud, her frank 2011 memoir, she revealed that she lost her virginity to Ronald Reagan and that she had slept with Mel Gibson when she was twice his age. Laurie wrote the book because “my life had many secrets, and it was wearing,...

It was announced earlier this month that Mayor of Kingstown would be renewed for a third season, but Deadline reports that one of the series’ main stars will not be returning. According to their sources, Dianne Wiest won’t be back for Mayor of Kingstown season 3.
The series follows the McLusky family – power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan, where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Dianne Wiest plays Mariam McLusky in Mayor of Kingstown, who is the matriarch of the McLusky family. The outlet reports that there have been rumblings that Wiest might be leaving the series for several months, with her exit said to be “story-driven.” I haven’t watched the series for myself, but those who do likely know how Wiest will be written out, given the events of the season 2 finale.
The scripts for season 3 of the series were written before the WGA strike began,...
