On March 13, 1990, 13 paintings worth hundreds of millions of dollars were stolen from Boston's Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in a brazen heist that still remains unsolved. Any Day Now creates a fictitious backstory where a downtrodden pushover is forced to aid the robbery by a loquacious gangster and his goofy goons. We're supposed to take pity and root for the wet blanket protagonist as he's used like a doormat from start to finish. That doesn't happen because the black comedy is a stretch at best and the narrative has plot holes you could drive a truck through.
The cocky Marty Lyons (Paul Guilfoyle) sits in his prison cell, interrogated by a pair of angry cops who think he orchestrated the museum robbery. Marty sarcastically responds that he wishes he'd thought of it. The scene then flashes back to the hapless Steve (Taylor Gray) being chased into a restaurant. He doesn't get...

By the way it was written, Olatunde Osunsanmi's new TV movie "Star Trek: Section 31" stands almost entirely on its own. There are a few references to the "Star Trek" universe at large, but the script (by Craig Sweeny) is careful to explain them all closely. Case in point: the character of Quasi (Sam Richardson) is a Chameloid, a shape-shifting species not seen since Iman's character in "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country." Viewers, however, don't need to know anything about Iman or "Star Trek VI" to understand Quasi.
Ditto the character of Rachel Garrett (Kacey Rohl), the young Starfleet lieutenant. Trekkies know Rachel Garrett as the future captain of the Enterprise-c because we met her in an episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" called "Yesterday's Enterprise." The events of "Yesterday's Enterprise," however, aren't at all referenced in "Section 31." There is also a Deltan character named Melle...

Star Trek: Section 31 is an intergalactic sci-fi action-adventure that can be enjoyed by general audiences, but an understanding of the film's Star Trek connections will enhance the experience. Directed by Olatunde Osunsanme and written by Craig Sweeny, Star Trek: Section 31 premieres on Paramount+ on Friday, January 24. Section 31 is the first made-for-streaming Star Trek movie, and it marks the return of Michelle Yeoh as Emperor Philippa Georgiou from Star Trek: Discovery.
Section 31 is a Starfleet black ops division created in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Section 31 has since appeared in Star Trek: Enterprise and J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness. However, Section 31 was largely reimagined by Star Trek: Discovery. Less secretive but still insidious, Section 31 ended up creating Star Trek: Discovery season 2's villain, Control. Originally Section 31's threat assessment A.I., Control became sentient and tried to commit galactic genocide before it was stopped by the crews...

Laurence Fishburne left CSI: Crime Scene Investigation for a specific reason. The show, which premiered on CBS in 2000, was created by Anthony E. Zuiker and ran for 15 seasons, in the process spawning half a dozen spinoffs including CSI: Miami, which ran for 10 seasons, and CSI: NY, which ran for nine. The flagship show, which followed a Las Vegas Police Department crime scene investigation team, featured a rotating cast of stars over the years, which included William Petersen, Marg Helgenberger, Gary Dourdan, George Eads, Jorja Fox, Paul Guilfoyle, Eric Szmanda, Robert David Hall, Louise Lombard, and Elisabeth Shue.
Laurence Fishburne joined the CSI franchise in 2008, first appearing on the flagship show in season 9 as former medical doctor Raymond Langston and becoming a main cast member two episodes later, after the departure of Petersen's longtime character Gil Grissom, who had been a part of the series since the pilot. Michelle Yeoh's Paramount+ movie, Star Trek: Section 31, would be the perfect way for Star Trek to introduce a younger Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart). In Section 31, Yeoh reprises her role as Star Trek: Discovery's Emperor Philippa Georgiou. After the USS Discovery jumped to the 32nd century, Georgiou needed to return to a time when the Prime Universe and Mirror Universe were closer together. The Guardian of Forever (Paul Guilfoyle) sent Philippa Georgiou back to the early 24th century—also known as Star Trek's "Lost Era", between Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country and Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Few Star Trek projects have been set in the "Lost Era" before Star Trek: Section 31, but Star Trek: The Next Generation has occasionally referenced this elusive part of the Star Trek timeline. Star Trek: The Next Generation season 6, episode 14, "Tapestry", spends a significant amount of time in...

Timothy Olyphant may be best known for playing onscreen lawmen, but his next project will see him tackle a remake of a Norwegian action horror movie. Perhaps best known for playing Deadwoods Sheriff Seth Bullock, Olyphants career has also seen him embody other quick-shooting lawmen, such as Justifieds Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, and even The Mandalorians Cobb Vanth. More recently, however, Olyphant has also developed an affinity for playing cyborg characters. In addition to having voiced the Terminator in Netflixs Terminator Zero anime, he is also set to play a synthetic in Noah Hawleys forthcoming Alien: Earth series.
No stranger to working on action-oriented fare, Olyphant is also well acquainted with the horror genre. Not only did he star in and executive produce Netflixs popular horror sitcom The Santa Clarita Diet, but one of his earliest onscreen roles even saw him don the infamous Ghostface killers mask in 1997s Scream 2.

Production is officially underway on the thriller The Trip, which is coming from 87North, XYZ Films, and director Jorma Taccone (MacGruber and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping) – and Deadline reveals that Taccone has assembled a cool cast for the film. The line-up includes Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother), Samara Weaving (Ready or Not), Timothy Olyphant (Justified), Juliette Lewis (From Dusk Till Dawn), Paul Guilfoyle (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation), and retired mixed martial artist Keith Jardine (Godless).

In 2021, Tommy Wirkola delivered a delightfully deranged and bloody comedic thriller in The Trip. Now, Variety reports that a remake is in the works with an impressive cast lined up.
Jason Segel, Samara Weaving, Timothy Olyphant, and Juliette Lewis are set to star in The Trip, directed by Lonely Island member Jorma Taccone (Pop Star: Never Stop Stopping).
In The Trip, “a dysfunctional couple (Segel and Weaving) who head to a remote cabin to supposedly reconnect, but each has secret plans to kill the other.” What the logline leaves out is that the couple’s plans to commit murder get derailed by the arrival of actual killers, and violent mayhem ensues.
Paul Guilfoyle (LA Confidential) and former UFC star Keith Jardine (Inherent Vice) have also joined the cast, likely rounding out the murderers that converge in The Trip.

A big question lingering from Star Trek: Discovery has been answered ahead of Star Trek: Section 31's premiere. The first Star Trek movie made for streaming on Paramount+, Section 31 premieres on Friday, January 24, 2025. Star Trek: Section 31 is headlined by Academy Award-winner Michelle Yeoh, who returns in her iconic role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou from Star Trek: Discovery.
Emperor Georgiou was last seen in Star Trek: Discovery season 3, where she was sent to an unknown time and place by the Guardian of Forever (Paul Guilfoyle). Georgiou, who hails from the Mirror Universe, was dying from the combination of time travel and crossing universes. The Guardian of Forever sent Georgiou to a time when Star Trek's Prime Universe and Mirror Universe were more closely aligned. Star Trek: Section 31 reveals Georgiou landed in the early 24th century "lost era" before Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Brad Anderson’s Session 9 has been one of my favorite psychological horror films ever since I caught a theatrical screening of it at a 24 hour horror marathon in 2001, so it’s cool to hear that horror and dark fantasy author Christian Francis – who has previously written novelizations of the films Wishmaster, Titan Find/Creature, and Vamp – is giving Anderson‘s cult classic the novelization treatment, with Echo Horror Publications planning to send the book out into the world on October 4th – just in time for Halloween season reading!
Starring David Caruso, Peter Mullan, Paul Guilfoyle, Josh Lucas, Stephen Gevedon, and Brendan Sexton III, Session 9 features one of the most epic F-bombs in cinema history and tells the following story: Grand, imposing… abandoned and deteriorating, the Danvers State Mental Hospital, closed down for 15 years is about to receive 5 new visitors. Donning protective gear, the men of the Hazmat Elimination Co.

There are a lot of warm, gripping, and beautiful moments in the recent movie Arthur the King, and while Mark Wahlberg gives a very visceral performance, it's undoubtedly the titular dog who steals the show. The canine actor is named Ukai, and in a new featurette (which you can watch above), we go behind the scenes with the incredible and adorable puppy behind the inspiring hit with Wahlberg and Simu Liu.

When CBS announced it was canceling CSI: Vegas, it didn’t warn the showrunners. This means that fans won’t be happy when watching the season finale, knowing the show is ending. One of the show’s stars said “major cliffhangers” are in the finale that will never be resolved.
Here is what fans can expect from the CSI: Vegas finale.

The crime scene investigations in Las Vegas are over at CBS. Following reports that CSI: Vegas was in serious danger of getting canceled, the bad news has now been confirmed, as CBS has axed the CSI sequel series after three seasons.
Per Deadline, CSI: Vegas was one of two shows to get axed on Friday. So Help Me Todd has also been canceled, and this news comes as a bit of a shock, as it had been a solid ratings performer alongside CSI: Vegas. However, compared with the other shows on CBS, they were still the least-watched drama shows on the network for the Spring 2024 season. With so many other CBS shows getting renewed, and with new shows like NCIS: Origins, Watson, and the Matlock reboot debuting in the fall, the axe had to fall somewhere, sealing the fate of CSI: Vegas and So Help Me Todd. Both “So Help Me Todd” and “CSI: Vegas” have been canceled at CBS, Variety has learned.
“So Help Me Todd” is currently airing its second season at the broadcaster, while “CSI: Vegas” is airing its third. Both shows are scheduled to air their season finales in May, which will now serve as series finales.
The two shows were some of the few CBS shows awaiting words on their fates for next season. The only other CBS shows with pending renewal statuses are “The Equalizer” and “NCIS: Hawai’i.” They are both solid performers, with “So Help Me Todd” averaging 7.7 million viewers an episode in multiplatform Live+35 and “CSI: Vegas” averaging 7.6 million. According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, CBS simply did not have enough room on the schedule to bring them back.
In addition to its many previously announced renewals, CBS already has a number of new shows set to debut next season.

Emperor Georgiou may be recruiting young legacy characters from different Star Trek eras for Section 31. The multi-era Section 31 theory is possible, with the potential for familiar characters to join the division played by new actors. Section 31 could change legacy characters like Rachel Garrett by providing stronger characterization and new stories.
Could Star Trek: Section 31 be about Emperor Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh) uniting legacy characters from across the Star Trek franchise? Section 31 was set up in Star Trek: Discovery season 3 when Emperor Georgiou left Discovery's 32nd century for a personal mission, courtesy of the Guardian of Forever (Paul Guilfoyle). The only clue the Guardian gave regarding Georgiou's destination was that the Mirror Universe of Georgiou's origin and the Prime Universe were "still aligned", to alleviate Georgiou's debilitating symptoms arising from being in both the wrong time and the wrong universe. This suggested Section 31 takes place in an earlier point in the Star Trek timeline.

The "lost era" between Star Trek VI and Tng holds major historical events that shape the franchise's future. Michelle Yeoh's Section 31 movie explores this politically fractious time with Emperor Georgiou's mission in the 24th century. Key events like the Tomed Incident, the Cardassian Occupation of Bajor, and the Khitomer Massacre impact future Trek characters.
Michelle Yeoh's Section 31 movie will take place in Star Trek's "lost era", expanding on the limited knowledge that fans have of this tantalizing time period. The confirmation that Kacey Rohl will play a young Rachel Garrett in Star Trek: Section 31 confirms that the latest mission for Emperor Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh) will take place in the early 24th century. This extensive period in the Star Trek timeline takes place between the end of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country and the start of Star Trek: The Next Generation, during which some major historical events took place.

When TV fanatics hear "Chicago," their minds probably go to the hit network franchise that includes Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and more. The co-creator of said franchise, Michael Brandt, has a new project that has just been released — but this time, it's up on the big screen. Arthur the King is adapted from famed adventure racer Mikael Lindnord's acclaimed book about his life-changing experience 10 years ago when the eponymous furry friend entered his world. Arthur the King is a wholesome, tear-jerking adventure film that showcases the unbreakable bond between a racer and his furry companion. Don't be fooled by the cheesy trailer; while it certainly relies on melodramatic 'dog movie' tropes, it's not as cheesy as it could be. While not groundbreaking, the movie provides a feel-good experience perfect for families and fans of canine companions on the big screen.

Mark Wahlberg is back with “Arthur the King.” And the typical Wahlberg experience has been suitably augmented by a very sweet ingredient: the addition of an adorable dog (the titular Arthur). Put your paws together everyone.
Based on the best-selling memoir “Arthur – The Dog Who Crossed the Jungle to Find a Home” by Mikael Lindnord, it details a group of mountain climbers who, on a competition, meet the little dog, who ends up being a key member of the team. Wahlberg plays a character based on Lindnord, the elite Swedish athlete who gave meatballs to a starving stray dog that ended up changing his life. (Lindnord ended up writing another book about how rescue dogs save our lives.)
Action, adventure, a very cute dog. What more could you want? Exactly. Here’s how to watch “Arthur the King” right now and where to expect it on streaming.

Mark Wahlberg is not just a Hollywood superstar; he is a real-life hero. We know how dedicated he is to his profession and, of course, fitness. Not only that but despite sustaining an unbearably painful injury, he is a kind colleague who saved hundreds of jobs for the cast and crew of his upcoming flick.
With Simon Cellan Jones directing, the 52-year-old actor is gearing up for Arthur the King, his next adventure movie. During filming a particularly difficult scene, Wahlberg—who is renowned for his solid work ethic and dedication to his roles—suffered a serious injury. Most actors would have called it quits, but not the Boogie Nights actor.
Indeed, he could not bear to think of disappointing his crew or the other cast members, so he endured the unbearable pain in order to see the project through to the end.
