In high school, he auditioned for drama school and was accepted at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Two of his classmates were Ewan McGregor and David Thewlis. His studies paid off when he won a role in Hanif Kureshi's film, London Kills Me (1991). He is best known for his role as that 'Sikh bloke' in The English Patient (1996) and as Sayid in the popular television series Lost (2004). - Naveen William Sidney Andrews was born on the 17th of January, 1969, in London, England. Naveen is the elder of two brothers, and has had an interest in acting since an early age. At the age of five, a teacher mentioned to Naveen's parents that he had expressed interest in being an actor. At the age of 16, Naveen was accepted at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama at the same time as Ewan McGregor and David Thewlis. Naveen's first role was in Hanif Kureshi's film, London Kills Me (1991). In 1993, Naveen was nominated by the Evening Standard Drama Awards as Most Promising Newcomer for his part in Wild West (1992). For the BBC's The Buddha of Suburbia (1993), he was nominated for best actor at the San Remo Film Festival.
This talented actor with the expressive eyes has continued to work steadily through out his career, and became more widely known for his role of Sayid Jarrah in the popular television series Lost (2004). Naveen has been nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his role and has earned much praise from critics.
