5 Reasons Sawyer Was the Real Hero of ‘Lost’
Image
It’s been almost 15 years since Lost’s series finale aired on ABC, but we’re still in awe of so many things the drama did — especially its focus on its characters and the unexpected and memorable ways in which they interacted and impacted each other’s lives. With such a massive ensemble cast, everyone had (and still has) their favorite island inhabitant; some might choose the good doctor and reluctant survivor leader Jack (Matthew Fox), while others might pick the brave and adventurous Kate (Evangeline Lilly), the resourceful and fiercely loyal Sayid (Naveen Andrews), or even the ultimate romantic Desmond (Henry Ian Cusick). They’re all solid choices, of course, but we’re big fans of Sawyer (Josh Holloway) a.k.a. James Ford. Before Josh Holloway’s Duster brings the actor back for a new swaggery and shaggy beau named Jim in a new J.J. Abrams show, we...

Critic’s Notebook: The Cancellation of ‘Clean Slate’ Marks the End of Freevee’s Creatively Impressive, Commercially Botched Half-Hour Brand
Image
When news broke on Friday afternoon that Amazon wouldn’t be making a second season of the comedy Clean Slate, media reaction hovered between two viable extremes: “Amazon Cancels Show We Never Knew Existed” and “Amazon Canceled Norman Lear’s Kinda-Final Show.”

I can understand both approaches. Despite the presence of stars Laverne Cox and George Wallace, Lear’s posthumous credit was the highest-profile thing Clean Slate had going for it, and despite all of those elements, I never heard anybody mention Clean Slate out in the wild. It was an invisible show in a landscape that too frequently renders all but the biggest titles invisible.

For me, though, the abrupt end of Clean Slate represented the end of a different, less-heralded era: that of Freevee’s half-hour development, one of the most creatively interesting and commercially botched pieces of brand-building in recent memory.

Freevee, the ad-supported branch of Amazon...

Simon Pegg Says a Fourth Star Trek Movie Is “Not Impossible”
Image
Actor and writer Simon Pegg still has hope for Star Trek 4. Speaking at Awesome Con, Pegg talked about how much he would love to return to the world of Star Trek. The popular sci-fi reboot began in 2009 with J.J. Abrams as the director and showed a new version of the classic crew by using an alternate universe.

Two more films followed, but fans have been waiting for a fourth movie ever since.

At the event, Pegg said, “I’d like us to do another movie. I would be happy to get back with those guys and do another movie, whatever the story is. I love my Enterprise crewmates; they’re the sweetest people. I was so proud of Zoe winning an Oscar this year.”

Pegg isn’t the only one ready to return. Chris Pine, who played Captain Kirk, also wants to come back. But everyone knows there’s a big challenge ahead.

Subhash K Jha Revisits 18 Years Of Aishwarya Rai’s Provoked
Image
Subhash K Jha refocuses the lens on the Aishwarya Rai drama, The Woman Who Walked Into Doors, the battered wife Paula keeps justifying her bruises by saying she, as a habit, walks into closed doors and hurts herself.

The battered wife Kiranjit in Jagmohan Mundhra’s Exposed jolting expose on domestic values never gets a chance to walk in or out of that closed London door where she lives with her brutal husband. She chooses her husband’s death over her own exit.

It’s amazing how the true-life Kiranjit Ahluwalia found freedom by setting her brutal husband on fire. In one of the film’s most sensitively delineated dialogues, Kiranjit says to her rather overly benign prison mates, “I’ve never felt freer in my life.”

What sort of trauma would it take for a woman to feel free in prison? Provoked answers the complicated question of domestic disharmony...

'Lost' Pilot Episode Originally Killed Off a Beloved Character
Image
It's hard to imagine that over 20 years have passed since audiences all around the world were first introduced to the diverse group of passengers of the ill-fated Flight 815 in the 2004 cultural phenomenon Lost, a mind-bending sci-fi supernatural series that focuses on the traumatized survivors as they find themselves stranded on a mysterious tropical island in the South Pacific. Touting a stacked ensemble cast led by Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly, Josh Holloway, and Naveen Andrews, the smash hit original has widely been regarded as one of the greatest television shows of all time, running for six spellbinding seasons.

Party of Five alum Matthew Fox famously headlined the sci-fi staple, portraying the brilliant-yet-haunted surgeon Jack Shephard, who swiftly emerges as the de facto leader of his fellow survivors and experiences an epic spiritual transformation throughout the course of the acclaimed series. However, it's hard to imagine anyone other than Fox as the capable Jack.

Star Trek: Khan boldly goes where no Star Trek has gone before
Image
Star Trek was revolutionary for television when it first aired in 1966. It brought serious science fiction into the homes of millions with effects that—at the time—were remarkable for television. Of course, the budget and the available technology still presented limitations for what could be shown. Even today, there are limits to what Star Trek can show on screen.

Audio is a medium where these limits are simply not an issue. Over the past several years, we have seen a growing resurgence of audio dramas, after the radio drama format had all but died out in the mid-20th Century, after the advent of television. Although fans have made amateur Star Trek audio dramas earlier, the upcoming Star Trek: Khan is the first official audio addition to the series.

Unlike an audiobook, where the story is basically just told through words that are spoken, rather than written, an audio...

The expansion of the universe will explore the dramatic untold events that unfolded in the desolate world of Ceti Alpha V after Captain Kirk left Khan and his followers stranded there, paving the way for the iconic clash in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. The new audio series will be available for streaming on all major podcast platforms later this year.

History remembers Khan Noonien Singh as a villain, the product of a failed attempt to perfect humanity through genetic engineering whose quest to avenge himself on Admiral James T. Kirk led to unimaginable tragedy and loss. But the truth...

Star Trek: Khan news creates questions about the series
Image
Now that it’s been announced that Naveen Andrews will voice Khan Noonien Singh in the long-gestating Star Trek: Khan audio series, it’s time to delve a bit deeper into the news and the press release distributed to the media. There are numerous bits to explore.

First, we like the casting of Andrews. He’s a solid, experienced, and Emmy-nominated actor, best known for Lost, and has a distinctive voice. Though he was born in London, England, his parents are from India. Khan is Indian.

CBS Studios also revealed that Wrenn Schmidt will voice Marla McGivers, another character very familiar to fans of “Space Seed,” the episode upon which Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan was built. Schmidt recently played Margo Madison on For All Mankind and co-starred on the series Person of Interest, which Kelvin Timeline filmmaker J.J. Abrams-produced. She also co-starred with Brent Spiner, Star...

One of the most iconic Star Trek villains has just been recast for a new series
Image
From the moment CBS Studios first announced its Star Trek: Khan series, anticipation has been building around who exactly might be tapped to bring one of the greatest Star Trek villains to life next within the franchise. There has been a lot of anticipation and speculation about who might take on the role first originated by Ricardo Montalbán.

Many fans wondered if CBS Studios might perhaps bring back Benedict Cumberbatch to voice the character following his portrayal of Khan in Star Trek: Into Darkness. Cumberbatch delivered a chilling and brilliant performance in the role of the film’s key foil so it would have seemed natural for CBS Studios might look to bring him back into the fold via Star Trek: Khan. Many would have loved to see Cumberbatch return to the franchise, but doing so ultimately wasn’t in the cards, and understandably so as the goal is to...

'Lost's Worst Episode Saved the Show From an Even Worse Ending
Image
Almost 15 years since it ended, debates still rage about Lost’s final season, and in particular, its finale. For a sizable portion of the fanbase, “The End” felt nothing less than a waste of time that refused to answer the mysteries they’d spent six years investing in, and seemingly proved the writers made up as they went along. Others felt “The End” was a beautiful cap on an all-time great series, prioritizing the character arcs over the mysteries and bringing things to an emotionally satisfying close. Wherever you land, there’s one thing seemingly everyone can agree upon: it’s not Lost’s worst overall episode.

That dishonor goes to “Stranger in a Strange Land,” the ninth episode of Lost’s third season. Even by the standards of a season that saw dwindling ratings and slow plot progression (at least up until the incredible finale), this installment only incrementally...

5 gripping shows like From you need to binge-watch next
Image
After an incredible third installment, the hit sci-fi horror series From was renewed for a 10-episode fourth season in November 2024, and fans have been buzzing with excitement ever since. Everyone wants to know what new horrors await the residents of the nightmarish town, but unfortunately, we won't be seeing this beloved show return to our screens until sometime next year.

From season 4 was confirmed for a 2026 release when the renewal was announced. Production on the fourth season is slated to begin this year in Nova Scotia, where the previous three seasons were shot, but a filming start date has not been revealed. Also, given that this show heavily utilizes special effects, we can likely expect a longer post-production period. This is likely the reason why we won't be seeing From season 4 until next year. It's the lengthy filmmaking process. While this is extremely disappointing for fans, we're expecting the wait...

How the 2007 Writers' Strike Led to 'Lost's Best Season
Image
Despite its legendarily divisive ending, ABC's Losthas still gone down as one of the greatest TV series of all time, setting the standard for "mystery box" shows ever since. Across its six seasons, it boasts some of the most acclaimed and memorable moments in TV history, from its groundbreaking pilot to its infamous flash-forward twist at the end of Season 3. Fans of the series no doubt have different picks for the best season, whether it's Season 1's setup of the island's many mysteries, or Season 3, which opened up the world of the show in all kinds of fantastic ways.

While the show's storyline got weirder and harder to follow in later seasons, Season 4 just might be the series at its very best, an ideal fusion of its island intrigue, high-concept sci-fi, and character development. It features some of the series' biggest payoffs, both from a plot standpoint as well as an emotional one,...

5 excellent limited series like Apple Cider Vinegar also based on true stories
Image
If you’re a new fan of Apple Cider Vinegar, there are a few shows like it to check out on streaming!

Apple Cider Vinegar is the latest in what’s become a TV trend. This Netflix series is based on the true story of Belle Gibson (Kaitlyn Dever), an Australian wellness guru who became a sensation in the early 2010s. Gibson claimed that a special diet had allowed her to cure her terminal brain cancer, becoming a best-selling author and her own media empire.

Then came the truth that Belle never had cancer and lied about so much in her life. The series paints a fascinating picture of Belle’s rise and fall from the top and how and why she crafted this life of deception.

It’s a fascinating story, but it’s hardly the only show of its kind. There’s been a trend in shows about such scammers,...

The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh Cancelled at Prime Video After 1 Season

Prime Video is moving out of the Steel City, cancelling the comedy The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh after just one season, TVLine has confirmed.

The series — which was one of TVLine’s Hidden Gems You May Have Missed from last year’s TV — starred Naveen Andrews (Lost) and stand-up comic Sindhu Vee as the heads of the titular Pradeep family, whose move from India to the States leaves them in hot water with the authorities. “As told through hilarious (and often conflicting) flashbacks from an interrogation room, the Pradeeps quickly find themselves embroiled — romantically, personally, and professionally — with a polar-opposite neighborhood family,...

‘The Pradeeps Of Pittsburgh’ Canceled By Prime Video After One Season
Image
Exclusive: Prime Video has opted not to renew The Pradeeps Of Pittsburgh for a second season. The news comes more than three months after the eight-episode first season of the immigrant comedy, starring Naveen Andrews, Sindhu Vee, and Megan Hilty, was released on Amazon Freevee.

It is not entirely surprising because The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh, which drew comparisons to ABC’s Fresh Off the Boat, did not make much noise among viewers despite largely favorably reviews (75% on Rotten Tomatoes)

There were outside factors in play, too. The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh was one of several shows lost in the shuffle as the the free, ad-supported Freevee, which had a comedy identity thanks to shows like Jury Duty, was shut down a couple of weeks after The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh‘s launch. ‘Last Days’ Review: Justin Lin’s Superficial Portrait of a Missionary’s Tragic Demise
Image
In 2018, 26-year-old American evangelical missionary John Allen Chau went on the most dangerous mission of his life. He secretly journeyed to North Sentinel Island in the Bay of Bengal in an attempt to convert its small population to Christianity, despite their strident insistence on staying disconnected from the rest of the world. As he tried to make contact with the people of the island, he was killed by arrows. His body was never recovered.

Now, Justin Lin’s Last Days seeks out to provide a coherent characterization of the young evangelical. Chau (Sky Yang) is presented in this misaligned attempt at character-based drama as an over-eager obsessive who never knew how to exercise caution or stop proclaiming his passion for Jesus to the world. A passionate evangelical from a comfortable California suburb, he doesn’t appear to have ever had or wanted any other profession than carrying the gospel to...

Last Days (Sundance) Review: Fast Saga director Justin Lin returns to his indie roots with a controversial true story
Image
Plot: The true story of John Allen Chau (Sky Yang), a devout American Christian missionary who was killed while trying to contact an isolated tribe on North Sentinel Island in the Indian Ocean.

Review: Justin Lin is best known nowadays for his work on the Fast & Furious franchise. He is the man responsible for elevating what started out as a modestly budgeted, B-level series into the block-busting global behemoth it’s become. Yet, Lin began his career with a Sundance hit called Better Luck Tomorrow, which had an infamous Q&a (an audience member said it was irresponsible to make a movie with an Asian cast that didn’t have positive characters – prompting Roger Ebert to loudly proclaim them as condescending), and is a gem worth checking out if you haven’t seen it.

Lin returns to the indie genre with all the tricks and style he learned directing...

‘Last Days’ Review: Most Faith-Based Movies Intend to Inspire, but Justin Lin’s Indie Return Cautions Fanatics
Image
Spoiler Alert: The following review contains spoilers.

You’ve seen it so often, you might roll your eyes, but in “Last Days,” it really happens: American missionary John Allen Chau could have died as he approached North Sentinel Island, had the Bible in his breast pocket not absorbed the blow of a hostile Sentinelese arrow. What was Chau doing halfway around the globe, trying to convert a tribe that had nearly zero contact with the outside world? That’s the mystery director Justin Lin attempts to solve with “Last Days,” prompting an unexpected return to Sundance more than two decades after “Better Luck Tomorrow” launched his career there.

In the interim, Lin has directed no fewer than five “Fast & Furious” movies, which makes this independent production a conspicuous downshift from exorbitantly budgeted studio fare. Chau’s story has been told multiple times, from the Outside magazine article that served...

‘Last Days’ Review: ‘Fast & Furious’ Franchise Director Justin Lin’s Return To Indie Filmmaking Blends His Personal Drive With Studio Sensibility -Sundance Film Festival
Image
Director Justin Lin was last at the Sundance Film Festival in 2002 with his breakout indie teen crime drama Better Luck Tomorrow. Twenty-three years later, he is back with yet another indie project, Last Days, and clearly hoping to rekindle the fire that got him attention in the first place. Since 2006’s Tokyo Drift, Lin has been the go-to guy for the Fast & Furious franchise with five of them, most recently Fast 9 in 2019, as well as the most recent big-screen film in another hugely popular franchise, 2016’s Star Trek: Beyond.

Now this veteran director, after a few stops and starts and financing woes, has managed to do a film on his own terms again. And the appeal of making it is obvious, not only because it focuses on a young Asian–American young man and his Chinese immigrant father, but because it definitely affords him the opportunity to tell a...

'Fast & Furious' Director Justin Lin Reveals Keanu Reeves' Involvement in 'Last Days'
Image
Justin Lin's latest movie, Last Days, makes its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival today in Park City, Utah, but if it hadn't been for Keanu Reeves, the Fast & Furious director might not be screening his film at all. Lin tackles the subject of John Allen Chau in the biographical drama, chronicling the events that led up to the young missionary attempting to make contact with a remote tribe living on an island in the Indian Ocean.

Speaking with The Wrap during the Sundance festivities, Lin shared with the outlet that there was a moment he wasn't sure Last Days was ever going to get made after financing for the project fell apart. That's often the case with independent productions, but in this situation, it was Keanu Reeves who came to the rescue not because he was looking for any sort of producing credit, but simply because he wanted to help.

How Keanu Reeves Helped Justin Lin Get ‘Last Days’ Indie Made: ‘We Have Angels Along the Way’ | Video

When director Justin Lin’s new indie feature “Last Days,” about 25-year-old missionary John Chau who was killed when he made contact with an isolated tribe, ran into financial woes, the filmmaker (also known for blockbusters in franchises like “Fast and Furious” and “Star Trek”) fortuitously got a call from Keanu Reeves.

Sitting with TheWrap’s Sundance Studio presented by World of Hyatt during the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, Lin shared that the film ran into trouble while getting off the ground. Reeves helped turn things around.

“It was this one moment where everything fell apart,” Lin said. “I think with all independent experiences you just don’t know. It’s a roller coaster. At that point, I thought it was all going to be done. We have angels along the way that come and really help us. In this case, I got a call from Keanu Reeves who heard that...

'Never Say Never:' Lost Writer Addresses Potential For Franchise Revival
Image
Lost became an instant hit when the series debuted on ABC in 2004. Over two decades later, one of the show's writers, Drew Goddard, addressed the possibility of revisiting the franchise.

Speaking to Variety, Goddard said that while there have been no official discussions about a revival, he will never rule out the possibility. "I loved working on that show so much, and I loved what we did," he explained. "I always feel strongly that I don't want to just do karaoke of the show I used to do. I'd only be interested if we felt like we could do something special and new within the construct of the show. And then some of it just comes down to time and appetite. So there's no plan for it today. But never say never."

Why ABC Canceled Once Upon A Time In Wonderland After One Season
Image
For all the blood, sweat, and manpower that ABC poured into finding a successor to "Lost" (a show that shaped the course of television in the early 21st century), I'd bet dollars to donuts the network never wagered it would take the shape of "Once Upon a Time."

Conceived by "Lost" alumni and "Tron: Legacy" writers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, "Once Upon a Time" casts "House, M.D." veteran Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan, a seemingly unremarkable bail bond agent who, just like any hero's journey protagonist worth their salt, discovers there's far more to her world (and destiny) than she ever realized. The show itself combines jigsaw puzzle-style storytelling with well-known fairy tale characters -- especially the Disneyfied versions, which was possible thanks to ABC being owned by the Mouse House -- to create a dense lore and elaborate mythos that rivals anything J.J. Abrams or Damon Lindelof could ever hope to dream of.

Ella Purnell's Army Of The Dead Character Explained — It's Not Her Only Zack Snyder Project
Image
Before she was the toast of Hollywood, Ella Purnell had a starring role in Zack Snyder's 2021, Army of the Dead, and it's not the only time she's worked with the director. Army of the Dead is one of the Zack Snyder projects that feels a little bit lost to time. That's probably because it was released on Netflix in May 2021, smack-dab in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, not exactly when audiences were searching for a movie about a viral outbreak that destroys society and turns the afflicted into shambling, quarantined monsters.

It's a serviceable zombie action flick but feels a little half-baked in a few too many ways. Perhaps that's why audiences haven't attached themselves to it the same way Snyder fanboys have to movies like Justice League, Watchmen, and 300. Whatever issues the movie has, the cast isn't one of them. Ella Purnell, in particular, is a standout,...

One Lost Hero Almost Solved All The Island's Problems in Season 2

Quick Links Sayid Jarrah Almost Shot Ben Linus, but Ana Lucia Stopped Him Michael Emerson's Character Was Likely Supposed to Die on Lost

As much as fans love the castaways on Lost, celebrating its 20th anniversary, they also loved its villains. Particularly, Michael Emerson's turn as Ben Linus, leader of the "Others," was the character they loved to hate. Eventually, Ben went on a redemption arc, but in a Season 2 episode of Lost, Sayid Jarrah (Naveen Andrews) almost avoided all that trouble by shooting him. Ironically, the character almost dying was a sign he was going to stick around.

Just like Jack Shephard, John Locke and so many others, Ben Linus was just a pawn in the larger cosmic game being played on the island. Given the importance of individual choices, however, removing Benjamin Linus from the board could've changed the game considerably. As later seasons showed, there was...

Lost Secretly Spoiled Sayid's Fate in the Season 3 Finale
Image
Quick Links Sayid Was Ready to Die to Help the Castaways Escape In Season 3 After Being Fatally Shot, Sayid Jarrah Got a Second Chance at Life

A clever way television writers like to showcase they have a plan for their story is to foreshadow future events with seemingly throwaway lines. In Lost Season 3, Naveen Andrews's Sayid Jarrah does exactly this when he offers to give his life to save the castaways. Three seasons later, and under different circumstances, he makes that sacrifice. At the time, it may have been a tension-creating line for audiences to fear for Sayid's safety, but by the finale it proved to be prescient.

From the earliest episodes of Lost, Sayid Jarrah was a character who never seemed poised for full redemption or a happy ending. Along with being a technologically proficient communications officer, he served as a torturer for both US intelligence and the Republican Guard.

“Do Patti , Flawed But Engaging Take On Domestic Violence” – A Subhash K Jha Review
Image
When after watching Jagmohan Mundhra’s Provoked at a special private screening with Aishwarya Rai in 2006, I had turned to her to ask how she looked so convincing as a victim of domestic violence, she had smiled wanly and replied, “Because I’ve been through this.”

The guy she was dating her had pushed her down the stairs once, just like Saumya Sood’s husband in Do Patti, a crackling hissing free-falling thriller-styled fire-and-ice drama about twin sisters who resolve to take the lout in their own hands when the law fails.

I don’t wants to give away too much of Kannika Dhillon’s nimbly written script. Suffice it to say, Do Patti has its highs(the skygliding scenes help) and lows. While the “twist” in the climax is like blowing smoke rings with an extinguished cigarette , the rest of the film has its inspired interludes, especially in the...

Naveen Andrews Says ‘Relentlessly Optimistic’ Role Drew Him to Star in Amazon’s ‘Pradeeps of Pittsburgh’
Image
Naveen Andrews, who is widely known starring in dramatic roles, said playing Mahesh Pradeep in Prime Video’s new sitcom “The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh” was “uncharted territory.”

“You discover there’s a certain kind of freedom, and it’s good to be challenged, which is why I did it in the first place,” Andrews told TheWrap in response to how the comedy series may have given him any new acting skills to add to his tool belt. “It’s good to go into uncharted territory, and hopefully a challenge to the extent where you’ve got to come through, something good might happen.”

Before “The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh,” was a man of drama, starring in heavier, grittier programs like Hulu’s “The Dropout,” ABC’s “Once Upon a Time” and his most popular role as Sayid Jarrah in “Lost.”

In addition to the show’s comedy foundation, it was also...

‘Pradeeps of Pittsburgh’ Creator Reveals That His Dead Rabbits on the Doorstep Plot Happened in Real Life
Image
“The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh” creator and showrunner Vijal Patel said the dead rabbits that were placed on the Pradeeps’ doorstep and hunting trips with white Christian neighbors were all real-life events he’s been able to find humor in. In fact, it was those challenges that ultimately motivated him to create the Prime Video series in the first place.

“Dead rabbits, white hunting neighbors who are very Christian who brought us on hunting trips, or like, ‘Hey, let’s go hunting.’ I’m like, ‘I don’t f–ing hunt,’ [and they’re like,] ‘But it’ll be fun, like bro time,'” Patel shared with TheWrap in a press junket interview for the show, which premiered Thursday.

The hunting trip takes place in Episode 5: “Interrogation Log #5.” As Patel explained, “These challenges, the fact that everybody saw it as something horrible, and to me, sometimes it was kind of funny, or some kind...

The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh Stars Talk Subversive Family Comedy & Working With Naveen Andrews
Image
The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh offers a unique take on the family sitcom with Rashomon-style serialized storytelling and a delightful disregard for the "rules" of traditional sitcoms. The series follows the Pradeep family, Indian immigrants seeking a new life in America. However, when their neighbors' house is mysteriously burned to the ground, a pair of federal agents show up and interrogate everyone involved in an effort to discover the truth, no matter how hilarious that truth may be.

While Lost star Naveen Andrews plays Mahesh, the patriarch of the Pradeep family, the true power, as usual, rests in the wife's hands. To this end, Sindhu Vee plays Sudha Pradeep; a brain surgeon in India, she's frustrated that she can't get her medical license in America, which puts stress on her marriage to Mahesh. Meanwhile, Sahana Srinivasan plays Bhanu, the eldest of the three Pradeep children. Bhanu, a boy-crazy teen eager to...

The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh Stars Talk Teacher Crushes And Brotherly Pranks
Image
The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh, created by Vijal Patel, offers a fresh take on the family sitcom. Thanks to its unique, Rashomon-style storytelling and the creative freedom provided by Amazon Studios, the series feels fresh and edgy while remaining (more or less) family-friendly. The show follows an Indian family who move to America in search of a better life, but when their neighbors' house gets burned down under mysterious circumstances, a pair of federal agents (Romy Rosemont and Pete Holmes) conduct a series of interrogations with the family in an effort to discover the truth.

The Pradeep family consists of two parents (Lost star Naveen Andrews and Sindhu Vee), one daughter (Sahana Srinivasan), and two sons, Kamal and Vinod, played by Arjun Sriram and Ashwin Sakthivel, respectively. Kamal is the socially-awkward teen with a nigh-debilitating crush on his English teacher and Vinod is the irrepressibly adorable precocious youngest child who loves aboslutely everything about America,...

Naveen Andrews and Ethan Suplee Discuss Male Bonding in The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh
Image
The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh follows an Indian family who packs up their lives and moves to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Loosely inspired by the real-life experiences of show creator Vijal Patel, The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh adds a unique serialized mystery twist. The show is told mainly in flashbacks, with the Pradeep family and their neighbors being interviewed by federal agents investigating a community-shaking arson crime.

The patriarch of the Pradeep clan, Mahesh, is played by Naveen Andrews, best known for his roles in The English Patient and the hit ABC drama Lost. Meanwhile, the neighbor family is led by Jimbo, played by My Name Is Earl and Mallrats veteran Ethan Suplee. While ostensibly the heads of their households, they serve at the convenience of their more powerful and headstrong wives, played by Sindhu Vee and Megan Hilty, respectively.
