Four years after “Nine Perfect Strangers” first debuted in 2021, the Hulu series is back for another installment, with Nicole Kidman at the helm.

Masha returns in a wintry new locale for Season 2 with a new group of guests, played by Annie Murphy, Henry Golding and Christine Baranski, to name a few.

Masha is back, and she’s ready to continue her psychedelic experiments in Nine Perfect Strangers season 2. The premiere episode introduces us to the new characters, the nine strangers who are set to embark on an adventure they didn’t necessarily sign up for.
Caution: This post contains Spoilers for the Nine Perfect Strangers season 2 premiere.
We left Nine Perfect Strangers season 1 off with Masha in the wind, but she’s not escaping the legal troubles. She notes in a conference that she has multiple warrants out for her and other legal issues, and she’s also lying to everyone around her. She is still seeing her daughter Tatiana, and it’s no wonder she is still focused on experiments.
However, she gets an opportunity when a man named Martin comes to see her. They have spoken before, and he shares that “She” wants Marsha to set up her new work base in her place.

While Hulu series “Nine Perfect Strangers” used Liane Moriarty’s novel of the same name as the backbone of the Nicole Kidman-led series, Season 2 prompted the team — led by creator David E. Kelley — to go off-book as they crafted the second act of Nicole Kidman’s Masha Dmitrichenko.
Moriarty, who did not write a follow-up book to “Nine Perfect Strangers,” gave the team her blessing for a second installment of the series, which was renewed by Hulu for a Season 2 in June 2023, well after Season 1 first premiered in 2021. And since “Nine Perfect Strangers” first premiered nearly four years ago, EP Bruna Papandrea noted psilocybin (a.k.a. magic mushrooms) have been embraced tenfold, opening the door for countless stories unlocking past traumas.
“There’s no underlying material at all, no ongoing story,” Papandrea told TheWrap, noting that Season 2 picks up with Masha’s past controversies having been written about and publicized heavily.

The retreat is back and wilder than ever. Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers returns for a second season, with the first pair of new episodes dropping Wednesday (May 21) on the streamer. In it, an all-new batch of wellness-seeking strangers come together under Masha’s (Nicole Kidman) guidance — this time, in the wintry Zauberwald — and try to mend what’s broken in their lives. Like the first season of the show, which adapted Liane Moriarty‘s novel of the same name, the show boasts an all-star cast whose counterparts have intriguing individual and relationship struggles to grapple with. Before the Season 2 premiere for Nine Perfect Strangers, TV Insider caught up with the array of new all-stars to find out what fans should know about these newcomer characters. Annie Murphy‘s character is Imogen, and she arrives on a mission to patch things up with her estranged and aloof mother Victoria, portrayed by Christine Baranski.

Given the circumstances surrounding Donald Trump’s lawsuit against 60 Minutes and how the news division is apparently under pressure to temper its criticism of the current administration, it seems hard to believe that just a few years ago, a CBS-owned show all but declared war on the president.
In all six seasons of The Good Fight, creators Robert and Michelle King never passed up a chance to weave one of Trump’s many scandals into the narrative, from the infamous pee tape episode to accusations that he raped an underage girl.
The result was unmerciful but gloriously funny, especially when Christine Baranski’s liberal Diane Lockhart hallucinated news reports about Trump keeping a potbellied pig in the White House map room..

We could all use a little healing, and sometimes you have to use unconventional means to achieve serenity. That’s the philosophy of Masha Dmitrichenko (Nicole Kidman), a glamorous wellness guru who invites the wealthy and emotionally brittle to indulge in yoga, detoxes and micro-dosing, whether they like it or not. After the, uh, success of her previous retreat, she has moved shop to the Alps and invited a new group of seemingly unconnected strangers to the snow-covered mountains to receive her help.
Their consent to such treatment is, as always, optional.
Hulu had a major hit with “Nine Perfect Strangers,” becoming its most-watched original programming of all time upon its premiere. Of course, that meant a follow-up would be greenlit, even though it was initially intended as a miniseries. Fortunately, this is a concept that lends itself well to an anthology format: take a bunch of dramatic rich people,...

As a self-proclaimed president of the David E. Kelley fan club, I found the first season of Nine Perfect Strangers to be a stunning disappointment, especially considering the talent involved, both in front of and behind the camera. How many shows can boast a cast that includes Nicole Kidman, Michael Shannon, Melissa McCarthy, Regina Hall, and Luke Evans?
The result was a story that wandered aimlessly from character to character, plot point to plot point, and episode to episode, with no real purpose other than to showcase bizarre, head-scratching connections that felt more contrived than authentic. However, at the very least, the freshman outing was highly watchable—perfect for bingeing on Hulu.
I’m pleased to announce Nine Perfect Strangers’ second season is a much stronger effort. Kelley embraces his roots by emphasizing the bond between character development and eccentric storylines, which serves the season well. The individual mysteries concerning...

Nearly four years after the first season of Nine Perfect Strangers, Nicole Kidman’s mysterious guru Masha is back for a second season, with a whole new batch of visitors.
This time the show is set in the snowy Alps and Christine Baranski, Henry Golding, Murray Bartlett, Annie Murphy, Mark Strong, King Princess and Dolly de Leon are among those playing the wellness-seekers at Masha’s retreat.

There are some elements of "The Big Bang Theory" that have aged poorly, ranging from its characters' casual sexism to Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) being a general creep to women. However, the sitcom's commitment to maintaining scientific accuracy is really quite admirable -- which is the view of David Saltzberg, a physicist who worked as a consultant on the show.
Speaking to Wired back in 2011, Saltzberg noted that the "Big Bang Theory" writers had a strong track record for getting the science right, but he recalled an almost-blunder in season 3's "The Maternal Congruence" episode. This one sees Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) and Leonard's mother, Beverly Hofstadter (Christine Baranski), discuss the complex concept that is quantum brain dynamics theory, which created some headaches behind the scenes. As Saltzberg recalled:
"This theory is about how quantum mechanics is important for consciousness in the brain. It's a highly disputed theory. But...

Christine Baranski had fans laughing during her recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert as she dished on her Mamma Mia! co-stars- and one actor’s less-than-enthusiastic attitude toward dancing to Abba. Robyn McCall has done her final quest for justice. CBS has opted not to renew crime drama The Equalizer, starring and executive produced by Queen Latifah, for a sixth season. This was the last CBS scripted series or pilot awaiting to learn their fate ahead of the network’s 2025-26 schedule announcement on May 7.
There are no plans for The Equalizer, produced by Universal Television, part of Universal Studio Group, to be shopped, I hear. Sunday’s Season 5 finale now will serve as a series finale.
As Deadline previously reported, The Equalizer had been in consideration for what was expected to be a 13-episode sixth and final season. Odds were always 50-50 at best, but there had been promising signs. Since finances play a key role in any renewal conversations these days, I hear producers of The Equalizer had agreed to reduce the budget of the show to the levels CBS had asked for,...

We're almost halfway through the year, and 2025 still has a lot of interesting TV yet to give us. It's time for us to throw a trailer party.
First up, SyFy's sturdy sitcom Resident Alien is returning for a fourth season, with the hard-working Alan Tudyk back for another round as the extraterrestrial who killed a small town Colorado doctor and then took his face, and who then learned he kinda liked humans despite how awkward he was around them. I gotta give it up for any sitcom that lasts this long, especially one with so wild a premise.
The new season begins with Harry (Tudyk) having been replaced by another, more sinister alien, but based on the trailer above, it looks like that plotline gets resolved pretty quickly. There are other hijinks to get to. Resident Evil season 4 premieres on SyFy on June 6.

As TV fans, we always welcome a new month because that means there's new shows and seasons to tune into! There's quite a few exciting additions coming to streaming in May 2025, and a couple that we feel like may not be worth your time. So here's 4 best new shows to watch, as well as two to skip, in May 2025.
Shows to watch on streaming this monthPoker Face season 2 on Peacock
One of the most highly-anticipated shows of the month, and honestly the year, is definitely Poker Face season 2. We've waited a long time for the new season to arrive, and it's finally almost here this spring. The series just has such a unique take on the murder mystery genre, even though it's been done many times.
The fact that we travel on the road with Charlie (Natasha Lyonne), and each episode brings with a new case and new famous guest star keeps things interesting.

The beloved HBO series “The Gilded Age” is back for Season 3. The Emmy-nominated drama from “Downton Abbey” creator Julian Fellowes promises just as operatic of a season as its predecessors. HBO is promising more high-society unrest in season three of The Gilded Age.
The network has set a June 22 premiere date released a first teaser for the drama’s forthcoming season. The teaser shows Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon) sticking to her “too much is never enough” ethos and preparing to marry off her daughter, Gladys (Taissa Farmiga) — a prospect which, judging by Farmiga’s expression in a few shots in the minute-long clip, doesn’t excite Gladys very much.
Marian Brook (Louisa Jacobson), meanwhile, expresses an opposite view: “Some people want to marry for love. I know I do,” she says — to which her aunt Agnes (Christine Baranski) replies, “I don’t understand.” Watch the teaser below.

The first season of the drama was released all the way back in 2021, and we're so ready for more. Thankfully, it's coming soon and Hulu has released a trailer to give us an idea of what to expect!
Nine Perfect Strangers season 2 premieres Wednesday, May 21, 2025 with the first two episodes on Hulu. After that, one new installment will be released each week until the finale on Wednesday, July 2. Just like the first season, this one in the anthology story will be 8 episodes long. Now who's ready to check out that trailer? We shared it below!
What stands out most and has me super excited is the cast! Season 1 had some stellar stars, that's for sure. And this season is no different. There's some of my personal favorite actors too, which is always fun to see.
