Hollywood Squares officially returns in January and will bring a star-studded lineup of guests to entertain viewers and, hopefully, help out contestants.
The popular game show is a variation of tic-tac-toe and features celebrities called upon to help contestants answer questions for an “X” or “O” in their square.
Among those seated in the squares are talk show host Drew Barrymore and The Price Is Right host Drew Carey.
While CBS Mornings star and former NFL player Nate Burleson hosts the returning game show, Barrymore will be the center square throughout the episodes.
And it seems nobody is safe from receiving comedic jabs from various individuals around them.
In a hilarious new teaser for the show, Barrymore and Carey get roasted by fellow celebrity guests.
See Carey and Barrymore get roasted by their Hollywood Squares co-stars
In a new preview of the Hollywood Squares reboot, viewers see some humorous moments from the upcoming game show.

For 50 years, Saturday Night Live has invited the biggest names in movies, TV, music, comedy, sports, and more through its doors to host. And while everyone will debate who the Goat SNL host is, one story makes a pretty clear case for who should be considered the worst Saturday Night Live host of all time.
Not everyone who gets the spotlight in Studio 8H delivers. Sketch comedy is hard. Live sketch comedy in front of millions of people watching from home is even harder. But the general consensus is that if a host is game and willing to try different things, you can't ask much more of them. It's when things go the other way that a host goes from a bad fit to a disaster.
That sounds like the case when Steven Seagal hosted Saturday Night Live on April 20, 1991. If you weren't around to see the episode, just take...

Gravitas Ventures has acquired U.S. and Canadian rights to the religious horror film “Inhabitants” from Brick Lane Entertainment. Written and directed by Matt McClung (“The Mad Whale”), Gravitas plans to release the film on digital and video on demand in February 2025.
Cast members include Anna Jacoby-Heron (“Stranger Things”), Josh Andrés Rivera (“American Sports Story”), Ana Auther (“Shadow Brother Sunday”), Todd Robert Anderson (“Good Girls”) and Kevin Nealon (“Man with a Plan”). These days, it’s fairly common for Saturday Night Live cast members to appear in commercials, like how Colin Jost decided to shill for Amazon while rubbing his awesome life in all of our faces.
And it’s not all that weird to see Kenan Thompson taking an animatronic bear for a spin in a Thrifty rental car. Okay, it’s a little weird.
But there was a time when SNL-ers were actually forbidden from appearing in any ads while they were working on the show. Real ads, that is; spots for Colon Blow and Oops! I Crapped My Pants were obviously still cool.
As Dana Carvey recently revealed in an episode of the Fly on the Wall podcast, Lorne Michaels’ commercial ban meant that the Master of Disguise star missed out on launching one of the biggest campaigns in the history of advertising.

Most people would know if a coworker was pretending to have sex with them. But as we learned on this week’s Fly on the Wall podcast — and several other times over the years — Victoria Jackson is not like most people.
When Jackson and Dana Carvey were on the show together, the cast needed several ways to relieve tension, Carvey revealed. “So much tension,” agreed Jackson. One method was gathering in the office shared by Carvey and Kevin Nealon, reveling in impromptu dance parties to the strains of the Pretenders’ “Don’t Get Me Wrong.”
Jackson had another method of relieving all that stress, according to Carvey. “You and (Jon) Lovitz would always have — just in a PG-13 way — simulated sex.”
That was news to Jackson. “Oh, I didn’t know we were having sex, by the way.”

Given that Bill Clinton spent two terms as president in the 1990s, it was almost impossible for him not to be an SNL staple throughout the decade. In fact, Clinton provided so much material for the show over those years that he was played by two different cast members: Darrell Hammond and, of course, the late Phil Hartman. That said, of all the SNL sketches lampooning Clinton over that nearly 10-year period, one is continually cited above all the rest — his impromptu stop at a local McDonald’s as president-elect.
Once inside, he glad-hands with patrons while eating off their plates and explaining detailed policy measures. While most of the dialogue relates to issues very much from 1992, it’s still remarkably funny, mostly because of the spectacle of Clinton (portrayed here by Hartman) obnoxiously eating as he says all these wonky things.

Former Saturday Night Live cast member Melissa Villaseñor is opening up Owen Wilson’s time as guest host on the NBC late-night sketch show.

By 31-year-old comic Mitch Hedberg’s estimation, only about 10 percent of Americans knew who he was in 1999 — so what chance did he have to kill at a comedy festival in Kilkenny, Ireland? But he figured out a secret to making any audience laugh, he told Kevin Nealon at the time.
“I started to delete shit, is what it comes down to,” Hedberg revealed. “I have jokes that have maybe three — or four at the most — punchlines, but I started to make it come down. I figured out that one or two is the best. You know, the second punchline or the first punchline works better than the third and the fourth.”
While Hedberg had scored with a Comedy Central special in the U.S., he was an unknown in Ireland. An added degree of difficulty: Many of his punchlines were loaded with cultural references that were unlikely to make sense in another country.

When former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Dana Carvey returned to Studio 8H in Season 50 to portray United States President Joe Biden, he actually became the 10th person overall to wear the iconic white wig. Biden has been a fixture on NBC’s late night sketch series since 1991, when Kevin Nealon played the then-Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman in a single sketch that lampooned Clarence Thomas‘ Supreme Court confirmation hearings.
Nealon was followed, in order, by Jason Sudeikis, Woody Harrelson, John Mulaney, Jim Carrey, Alex Moffat, James Austin Johnson, Pete Davidson, Mikey Day, and now Carvey. So who’s the best Joe Biden impersonator in “SNL” history? Vote in our poll below and then defend your choice down in the comments section.

“Saturday Night Live” premiered October 11, 1975 on NBC with a group of fresh-faced cast members known as the “Not Ready For Prime-Time Players.” None of those original stars lasted for more than five seasons, but they all made their mark on the late night sketch series that is still going strong five decades later.
Over the past 50 seasons (and counting), who are “SNL’s” longest-running cast members ever? Kenan Thompson currently holds the record at a whopping 22 seasons. Saturday Night Live is 50 years old. The comedy series has shaped generations of viewers, and it will be dealt the difficult task of remaining relevant and biting while at the same time reflecting on the five decades that came before.
Part of the reason SNL has been able to maintain relevance, of course, is that it's constantly bringing in new talent. There are new writers and cast members nearly every season, and those who exit at the same time. With that in mind, we decided to break down the roster for season 50, so you know which comedians to expect and which to lament.

If you’re Jimmy Fallon or Horatio Sanz, Saturday Night Live screwups are a dime a dozen. But forget not being able to keep a straight face. When you’re doing live television, other things can — and do — go wrong, from uncontrollable animals to high-flying theatrics gone haywire.
Here are five times that SNL sketches went sideways — and there wasn’t a damn thing anyone could do about it…
1 Massive Head Wound Harry Play
When W.C. Fields said, “Never work with children or animals,” he was somehow predicting Massive Head Wound Harry, a sketch in which a dog decides to take comedy into its own paws.
The plan was always for the pooch to lick Harry’s unfortunate wound, but it wasn’t supposed to devour Dana Carvey’s head. The dog was so ravenous for the fake injury that Carvey got into a tug-of-war to keep it attached to his noggin.

Saturday Night Live is about to hit its 50th anniversary, so no better time to count down the 25 funniest stars!
Narrowing down the best actors in a show that's run for five decades and boasted nearly 150 cast members is a challenge, to say the least. SNL has had its ups and downs over the years, with some periods boasting fantastic, brilliant comedic talents and others so low that many believed the show would be canceled. It's still survived, all thanks to that revolving cast of actors capable of pulling off these skits every week.
Many have gone on to become huge stars in movies and television and even bigger comics. Yet their SNL tenures often showed them at their best, with some standing taller than others. It's hard to figure it out, but here's how the 25 funniest SNL cast members of all time fall out as a stunning reminder of the show's legacy.

Weekend Update is a sketch and parody newscast presented on Saturday Night Live. It is the brainchild of popular SNL cast member Chevy Chase and SNL writers Herb Sargent and Al Franken, which parodies current events.
The sketch is SNL's longest-running, premiering during the first broadcast of SNL on October 11, 1975. During Chase's run as a news anchor, he often began his bits talking exclusively on the phone to a mystery person, unaware that he was live on air. He used the catchphrase "I'm Chevy Chase...and you're not" and concluded his segment with "That's the news...good night, and have a pleasant tomorrow."
Over the years, many other notable names served as newscasters, including Jane Curtain, Dennis Miller, Kevin Nealon, Norm MacDonald, and Colin Quinn. Personally, I believe MacDonald, with his dry delivery, is the cream of the crop when it comes to Weekend Update anchors.

One secret benefit to anchoring Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live? Even though fans might not think of you as the star of the show, you’re probably going to log more screen time than any other cast member. Right, Colin Jost?
Gary Dell’Abate gets it. “The thing that you always had when you were on the show that everyone didn’t have — you knew you were going to be on every week because of Weekend Update,” the Howard Stern producer told Kevin Nealon this week. “And everybody didn’t know they were going to be on every week.”
Didn’t that make Nealon’s cast mates jealous? The atmosphere on Saturday Night Live can be cutthroat, Nealon admitted, but the competition is often hidden. “Nobody's coming right out where it’s obvious that they’re competitive and they’re doing things to try to undermine you.”

"I was just trying to take care of her." Vertical has revealed the trailer for an indie dramedy film titled Late Bloomers, marking the feature directorial debut of director Lisa Steen. This initially premiered at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival last year, and it played at the Sarasota, Seattle, Memphis, Philadelphia, Palm Springs Film Fests as well. Louise is a 28-year-old Brooklynite adrift in life, who now finds herself grappling with her identity as a musician. She ends up in the hospital after drunkenly breaking her hip. An encounter with a cranky elderly Polish woman who speaks no English that's in the same room as her in the physical therapy ward leads to a job caring for her. Neither likes it, but it's time to grow up. As they navigate their begrudging relationship, they confront the realities of aging, forcing Louise to consider her own journey into adulthood. Saturday Night Live skits have given us some of the funniest and most enjoyable movies of their eras. Ok, there aren’t many – we’re really mostly talking about The Blues Brothers, the Wayne’s World double feature and MacGruber – but what’s there is choice comedy. On the other side, we have crap like It’s Pat, The Ladies Man and Stuart Saves His Family, all proving that just because something works for five minutes doesn’t mean it can sustain 90. Take another recurring skit, Debbie Downer, for another example, who Rachel Dratch turned into a signature character in more than a half-dozen appearances. Thankfully such a movie never happened – something that Dratch is perfectly fine with.
Speaking with ComicBook.com, Rachel Dratch recognized that while the character stands as one of her greatest contributions to SNL, she just wouldn’t have the legs to make it on the big screen.

The key to understanding Conan O’Brien’s comedy is knowing that it comes from a point of kindness. Yes, I know in this age of comics punching down, this kind of compliment may leave you with a neon “Must Avoid!” sign flashing in your bleary eyes — but stay with me.
Here is an example. Early in the first episode of his new, four-episode Max travel show “Conan O’Brien Must Go,” Conan — who has earned the right to be referred to by his first name. See: Carson, Johnny — travels to Oslo, Norway. There, he pops in on Jarle, a Norwegian waif of a rapper that Conan had originally met on a segment of his “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” podcast. In the podcast video, Jarle’s hair was combed and he seemed coherent. Then Conan surprises him. Jarle comes to the door, and he’s maybe 110 pounds in a long sleeve T-shirt,...

The news is out about a potential Happy Gilmore 2, and Adam Sandler mentioned several actors he wants to cameo in the anticipated sequel.
They are The Price Is Right host Drew Carey and longtime journalist and TV personality Dan Patrick.
In the 1996 classic comedy, Sandler played the title character, a hockey player turned golfer. Christopher McDonald played his rival, Shooter McGavin, and let it slip last month that a sequel was in development.
Additional Happy Gilmore cast included Julie Bowen, Carl Weathers, Kevin Nealon, and professional golfer Lee Trevino.
A memorable appearance and line involved the late Bob Barker, who hosted The Price Is Right for 35 years.
Following the big sequel news leaked last month via McDonald, Sandler appeared on The Dan Patrick Show to discuss the movie’s status.

Lorne Michaels is an expert at celebrating the legacy of “Saturday Night Live.” The show’s creator has produced variety specials for the NBC program’s 15th anniversary, 25th anniversary and 40th anniversary, so the upcoming 50th season should have a highly entertaining spectacle. Nothing less than a three-hour event would be expected, but how else should “SNL” celebrate the golden anniversary season, which would begin in the autumn of 2024 and continue through May, 2025?
Here is our exciting, fun suggestion for a way to go above and beyond for the live special. Over the course of a 20-22 episode season, NBC would certainly have almost every episode featuring the current cast along with hot guest hosts and musical guests. However, for the other five episodes spread out over several months, devote an entire 90 minutes to each previous decade. Invite back the biggest cast members from a decade along with well-known guest hosts and music stars.

Richard Lewis, the wild, eccentric, ultra-neurotic stand-up comedian and comic actor who most recently served as a semi-regular alongside Larry David on “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” is dead. He was 76. Lewis suffered a fatal heart attack Tuesday night less than a year after announcing in April 2023 that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and was retiring from performing stand-up comedy. Lewis’ death was confirmed by his publicist Jeff Abraham, who noted, “His wife, Joyce Lapinsky, thanks everyone for the love, friendship and support and asks everyone for privacy at this time.”
He appeared this month on the 12th and final season of “Curb” after begging off of the show in its 11th season while recovering from a series of surgeries. But he wound up shooting a scene in an episode that year, anyway.

Richard Lewis, a stand-up comic who achieved fame in the 1980s by turning his neuroses into comedy gold and later experienced a renaissance in recent years thanks to Curb Your Enthusiasm, died on Tuesday at the age of 76. The cause of death was a heart attack, his publicist, Jeff Abraham, confirmed to Rolling Stone.
Last April, Lewis revealed that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. “I’m under a doctor’s care, and everything is cool,” he said at the time. “I love my wife, I love my little puppy dog,...

In 2021, Lewis announced he would not appear in Season 11 of “Curb” in order to recover from three surgeries. He surprised viewers by returning to set for one Season 11 episode, telling Variety at the time, “When I walked in and they applauded, I felt like a million bucks. Larry doesn’t like to hug, and he hugged me and told me how happy he was after we shot our scene.”

In 2017, Kevin Nealon and his friend Matthew Modine were huffing and puffing their way up a steep grade in Temescal Canyon, a tranquil trail that’s a kind of unofficial backyard for many industry figures on L.A.’s Westside. Their breathless conversation amused Nealon, so he whipped out his iPhone and started recording. Among the oaks and sycamores, with birdsong in the background, Nealon asked Modine, who first rose to prominence in Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket in 1987, which acting roles he had turned down in his career. “He goes, ‘Oh, man. Back to the Future, the Michael J. Fox part. Big, the Tom Hanks part. Wall Street, the Charlie Sheen part.’ I said, ‘You idiot.’ He laughed.” Nealon posted some clips from their conversation on his Twitter feed, and the videos started taking off.

Fox Nation wants to get in on the streaming comedy boom that has largely been fomented by Netflix.
The Fox News streaming outlet plans to turn January into a comedy-themed month, one that is led by two stand-up concerts featuring Fox’s own talent as well as a new series about the history of drinking hosted by Dan Aykroyd and other alumni from “Saturday Night Live.”

There was a very emotional moment at the very end of this weekend’s Saturday Night Live.
As guest host of the night Jason Momoa signed off from Saturday’s episode (November 18), Weekend Update co-anchor Colin Jost held up a sign that said “We love you Dana and Paula.”
The sweet message was meant for SNL alum Dana Carvey and wife Paula Zwagerman, after the couple’s oldest son, Dex Carvey, died earlier this week from an accidental drug overdose at 32.

Dana spent seven seasons on the SNL cast from 1986 to 1993, especially known for his impressions of George H.W. Bush and Ross Perot, as well as original characters like Church Lady, Hans (to Kevin Nealon‘s Franz) and Garth alongside Mike Myers in “Wayne’s World” sketches. He also won five consecutive Emmy nominations while on the show.

Kudrow has been finding steady work in the film industry after Friends’ series finale. Her filmography shows she’s been quite a busy actor both on the big and small screens over the years.
