Abu Dhabi, Dec 3 (Ians) A spirited bowling display from Deccan Gladiators ousted Team Abu Dhabi by five runs in the Eliminator match of the Abu Dhabi T10 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium here.

Deccan Gladiators had posted only 94 for 6 in 10 overs but restricted Team Abu Dhabi to 89 for 8 in an edge-of-the-seat thriller.

Josh Little broke the middle order of Team Abu Dhabi with two wickets and he was well backed by Sultan Ahmed, Zahir Khan, Tabraiz Shamsi and Zahoor Khan, all of whom took two wickets each. Zahoor Khan who bowled the last over gave away only 11 runs when Abu Dhabi needed 17 runs to win from the last over.

Defending champions Deccan Gladiators thus qualified to play in the second qualifier against Samp Army in Qualifier 2, which will decide who will play against New York Strikers in the final on Sunday.

Team Abu Dhabi won the toss and was elected to the field.

Abu Dhabi, Sep 27 (Ians) Ahead of the sixth season of the Abu Dhabi T10, which tees off at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on November 23, eight franchises have finalised their squads, with the tournament seeing the addition of two new franchises — New York Strikers and Morrisville Samp Army.

The final of the tournament will be played on December 4.

Defending champions Deccan Gladiators, who have Nicholas Pooran as their icon player, have signed on some serious talent in Andre Russell, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, David Wiese, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Luke Wood, Odean Smith, Josh Little, Will Smeed, Zahir Khan, Curtis Campher, Zahoor Khan, Adeel Malik, Sultan Ahmed, Jason Roy and Taskin Ahmed.

Dubai, Sep 17 (Ians) Leg-spinner turned batter C.P. Rizwaan will lead the 15-member UAE team in the Icc Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 Australia, the Emirates Cricket Board announced here on Saturday.

Vriitya Aravind will be his deputy in the mega sporting spectacle, scheduled to take place from October 16-November 13.

The selection committee chairman, Dr. Tayeb Kamali, said, “Qualifying to play against top national teams of the world at the Icc Men’s T20 World Cup marks a milestone with UAE Cricket’s growing strengths in the T20 format. Abu Dhabi, Dec 25 (Ians) Veteran leg-spinner Pravin Tambe, right-arm medium fast bowler Ishan Malhotra and leg-spinner Prashant Gupta are the three Indians who will be playing in the fourth edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 slated to be played from January 28 to February 6 next year at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.

In August, Tambe had become the first Indian to play in the Caribbean Premier League (Cpl) where he played with Trinbago Knight Riders (Tkr). The 48-year-old had made his Ipl debut at the age of 41 in 2013. He has so far played 33 matches in all Ipl editions picking up 28 wickets.

Spinner Ishan, picked by Arabians, played one match for the Deccan Chargers against Delhi Daredevils during Ipl 2011.

Gupta, picked by Team Abu Dhabi, played domestic cricket for Uttar Pradesh and Railways from 2008 to 2019.

Mumbai, Sep 23: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan Monday met veteran actor Dilip Kumar, who is steadily recovering after a heart attack, in Lilavati Hospital here.

"Mr. Bachchan came to meet Dilip Kumar today around 7 p.m. they chatted for around half and hour. As far as Dilip Kumar's health is concerned he is absolutely fine and he now desperately wants to go back home," Udaya Tara Nayar, Dilip Kumar's close family friend, told Ians.

Udaya Tara also shared a picture in which Bachchan posed with Dilip Kumar, 90, along with Saira Banu and her brother Sultan Ahmed.
